If i could give less then 1 star then I would. Was told someone would be at my house between 8am and 1pm. Noone showed up so I rang their number and was told the plumber rang in sick today, nobody contacted me to tell me this. I was then told that instead of the $120 call out fee it would now be $280 even though it is not my fault that noone showed up and I was not contacted. No offer for any resolution except you must pay $280 now. Not worried about the money, I will now go and pay another plumber that money that values customers and will contact their client. I would not recommend Service Today to anyone read more

Can't comment on the actual quality of service as we didn't get to that point. I didn't need same day, so booked for next day, which was rescheduled by the company as no one was available. I've now cancelled the booking after no one was available for the next scheduled appointment (plumber called in sick the day before a public holiday). Will find a different service. read more

Incredibly poor service. Inferior products and they installed the wrong items. Sales man is a con artist and the pricing is at least 100 percent dearer than other services. This place is one step above a scam and buyer beware. You will regret dealing with them. read more

Called them out for a split air conditioner, they charged $149 to tell us the compressor was gone even though the fault showing up was a fan motor and quoted a VIP price $7000 for new one. We got a second quote and got it fixed for $700. read more

Had a small piece of copper pipe replaced on my hot water service, it took the plumber about 20 minutes to complete the job and I was charged $833.22. I have been ringing their office to speak with management who were going to ring me back, I have rang 3 times and 2 days about this and todate no response has been received. read more

called Service Today. I got them from a local paper with the smiley face ad of a young man. Didn't know that it was an ad from a large company. My washing machine was tripping the main switch so I had to verify if it was an electrical or washer fault. Turned out to be my washing machine. he checked the plug and main switch board, less than 30 minutes work= $ 382.00 Gross overcharging! quoted me $500 dollars to install new washing machine which took the delivery guy 2 minutes to unscrew the tap and rescrew the tap of the new machine. Total rip off company. mine is one of many complaints regarding thei pricing. Never use them again and spread the word! read more

This is the email I sent to Service Today. Dont ask me to contact you, we have been back and fourth for 3 weeks. You rip off the elderly and you cant be trusted. Don't reply to this because it will be all lies. I am writing about some work my friend's mother received and ask you to evaluate whether the amounts charged justify the work undertaken. Initial call out was for a bird that had flown in through the flue of a heater. By the time the servicemen arrived the Bird was out. The job was to ensure a Bird didn't fly down again. Not perform Brain surgery. Invoice 00450177 Total time on site 1 1/2 hours. When I 1st heard about the charge I was looking forward to seeing the new pergola that your company had built, but alas I was proven wrong as there was no pergola, only a hole in the ceiling. The description on the invoice had hardly any materials so I can't see how you could charge $3096.90 for roughly 1 hour's work (allowing for the tap reconstruction that was still to occur in the 1 1/2 hour timeframe). Julie (your client's daughter) was told she was very lucky that your staff are so well trained or it could've taken 5 hours for any normal person (an absolutely ridiculous statement). At $3096 per hour, a re-mortgage of the house would've needed to occur to ensure a bird never mistook the heater flue for a new home (it was only a bird not a kangaroo) so luckily your company's training ensured Gloria only needed to sell her car to pay your bill. I have a Barrister friend that only charges $700 a hour. Maybe he should start blocking up flues instead. For one hour charge plus materials at the most the charge should've been $300 not $3000 Tap reconstruction A washer was replaced on a tap. Charged $252. Come on, you replaced the washer only. You were already there. No travelling. I have no problem in having a plumber pulling the tap apart and proving that the full tap service wasn't done. He was doing this job for all of 5 minutes. You can get a full car service done cheaper than this. I find it all very interesting that the amount came to exactly $4000. Gloria could only get out 2 lots of $2000 so this seems very convenient. What you have charged an elderly lady is outrageous no matter what way you look at, including for works you haven't even done. I mean getting a deposit for a tin of paint is a bit rich. You have been given numerous opportunities to repay the money, instead Julie was offered an amount of money ($280.15) that was nothing but a slap in the face and then was threatened if she reviewed your company. You won't provide a detailed invoice with the material used and further more you are now adding in other items such as plastering and rubbish removal that you said was goodwill because you charged $3400 for 1 1/2 hours work. Sought quote for the capping of a copper gas pipe. I normally do my own plumbing, but won't touch gas - if it was a water pipe I estimate a maxium of 10 minutes work. Quote was $350.00. I laughed and said no, but still had to pay the initial callout fee. To add insult to injury, the tradie (although polite and punctual) spent most of the time trying to sell me a VIP membership to Service Today. Should have known better but the greywater drain was blocked for over two weeks and there was no time to be taken off from work. Work always gets in the way of life. :) So the Saturday morning I have called Service Today and in case you are wondering, this was the good part of the story. In a few hours a technician showed up. As it later turned out, he has brought some of this equipment but left his social skills behind. No matter, I thought. He is not here for amusing conversations. But then he proceed by using the wrong equipment, the one I've said will not do the job and also attacking it from the wrong end of the pipe. And of course about 30 minutes later he also lost a crucial nozzle from his high pressure pipe which was the signal for him that it was time to go home to that comfy armachair and the cold beer waiting in the fridge. But not before I have paid $526.33 for his efforts. Being small in stature, who was I to argue with a large tradie ? Outcame the credit card and he was on his way. Not a moment too soon judging from his attitude, if you ask me. The following day, I have called another plumber who cleared the blockage using the right equipment this time. It only cost almost as much as the bill I have paid to Service Today. Since I belive in the Force and Balance in the Universe, I have contacted Service Today. No joy as I was informed that the service call was merely an ATTEMPT and not a guaranteed outcome. That is all my $526.33 entitled me for according to Alan who works there. So I have said, let me put this into another perspective: What if Alan goes into his favourite restaurant and is presented with an empty plate and a bill that is to be paid in full. When he expresses his dismay, he's told that the chef has made an ATTEMPT to cook his meal and that is all there is to it. Naturally, while he as a customer sitting at the table, it was the chef who decided on the equipment and method that was used. It was also the chef who decided what constituted a reasonable effort. On top of all this, he was not presented with any information when entering the restaurant as to what were the conditions to his visit. Can you see where I'm coming from ? So let me tell you that when you call Service Today, DO NOT EXPECT any guarantee in exchange for your money. Quite possibly your money will be flushed down the drain. And the quote itself was more than $630 just to get a basic outside tap installed right next to the existing plumbing. $49 call out fee and a service guy 'identifying the issue and providing a quote for any repairs' was replaced by $420 to look at the gas line on arrival, and then various upselling attempts: $517 for 'vip' status, replacement of a heating system with no discernable fault, and on declining, an offer to pay another $100 for someone to come look at it. I did wonder about the low call out fee, but did not expect to be hit with $420 before anything at all was done. I can look out for myself but I can see those more vulnerable being completely bamboozled and conned by this outfit. Shameful practices. read more

Very disappointed! Paid $459.26 for nothing! Called service today for the water heater not lighting last week. The plumber came and told it might be the thermocouple so we agreed to change it. After he replaced the thermocouple, the water heater was still not working and he told us to change other parts which would cost more than $600 or buy a new one, so we had to decide not to go ahead with him. The plumber charged us $358 for the job and left a still not working water heater with us! read more

The plumber that turned up, was prompt, friendly and helpful. The service was good, but the price was terrible. We had a leaking mixer tap and I foolishly decided to try to install some isolation valves to stop it leaking until we could call a plumber. The valves leaked (clearly I'm not a good plumber) and I removed one of them, while the other was stuck. We called Service Today and paid a $280 after hours call out fee (fair enough, it was after hours), but were then quoted for "replacing a burst pipe" at around $600 (actual work: install isolation valves, no material cost as we had them already) and replacing the mixer tap at around $500 (including the hardware) and that's where our satisfaction ended. The only work required above simply replacing the mixer tap was unscrewing one isolation valve, which took the plumber a couple of minutes. He did then install the valves correctly, which took him another ten minutes or so, and replaced the mixer tap, another 30 or 40 minutes, and cut us a deal on the prices, but in total our charges for a mixer tap (hardware cost ~$100) and one hour of labour were $1158 ($280 call out + $528 "replacing a burst pipe" + $350 replacing the mixer tap). If you drop the call out fee and assume $100 for a mixer tap, that's an incredible hourly rate of $778. It would have been steep at half the price, but that's a clear ripoff. read more
