Looking for Asian food in the Roma Norte area, we came across Sesame. They served Pan-Asian cuisines and caught our interest. Easy to make reservation online. The inside is cozy with low lighting. Their menu offer a variety of Asian cuisines from Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai, etc. We picked a few items to share: - Vietnamese-style beef carpaccio: a good citrus flavor in the sauce, topped with cashew. Overall good as an appetizer to start off with. - Shanxi noodles with tamarind and coconut chicken: this was our least favorite. The sauce in the noodles was very salty. I couldn't eat it after the first bite. - Tobiko rice: it had shrimp, roasted corn, spicy yuzu mayo, and tobiko. Pretty solid and nicely balance. - Sesame octopus: I like the mashed potatoes that came with it. Octopus had a lot of flavors and good texture. - Saigon style red snapper: wok fried red snapper. Crispy and the seasoning was good on the snapper. Pretty good with a nice citrus red cabbage salad that came with it. - "Chilango" (5 pan fried dumplings): their Mexico-city style dumplings. It had beef confit in the fillings. This was alright. Would prefer for it to be more crispy on the outside. We also tried their ice thai tea, beer, lemonade, and jasmine tea, however did not like the drinks. It felt a bit water-downed and too light. Service was friendly and quick. We didn't have dinner reservations planned for Sunday and didn't realize how many places close early. Thankfully, Sesame was open, and the menu was enticing enough for us to book a last-minute table and head over. It's a cute, Asian-style restaurant in Roma Norte. We were greeted right away and told to sit anywhere since it wasn't too busy. I ordered the pork belly bao buns from their popular choices menu and the squid as my entrée. There's just something about pork in Mexico- it's exponentially juicier and more flavorful. Yes, every bite was basically fat... but the best kind of fat. One bao is the perfect appetizer portion. The squid was pretty good too, though I learned that I'm not a fan of bonito flakes. They looked cool, as they were flaky and moving on top of the squid, but the flavor was a bit too fishy for me. While in Mexico City, I'm not sure if one can ever get enough of all the Mexican cuisine offerings, from the most elevated to the street tacos--all delicious! But on this day, we were craving Asian food, so we Ubered over to Sesame. The first question, inside or out was a no-brainer, because although it is winter, the weather was quite pleasant. So we took advantage and sat outside on the beautiful street, our table with a direct view of the famous Panderia Rosetta. Our server was very attentive, actually, everyone was kind and attentive and the experience was quaint, low key, and beautiful. We had a few dishes that my lifetime eating partner truly enjoyed, but the highlights for me were the Bailey's infused martini and that brownie dessert!! In my next life as a food critic, I'm going to know what the hell the brownie was surrounded by. All I know is whatever it was, plus the brownie, plus the chai ice cream.....sent me into foodgasms--that naughty zone where your endorphins are on 10, all is well in the world, you think you know God just a little more, and you don't want anyone to speak to you. Chill vibe, eclectic menu, and good cocktails. It's in Roma Norte, which means the hipster-fu is strong with this one. That said, the food is, as with quite a few of the places around, quite good, and worth the visit. The drinks, however, are what what make the place. Stopped in for a some apps. Got the boa buns - pork belly and and short rib. Both had similar flavor profiles, I'd pick the pork belly as the favorite. Also got the samosas which were good as well. If your looking a quick spot, Asian fusion, in a Cute spot, plenty of outdoor seating this is your spot. I only peaked inside and looked like they had a few tables inside as well. This meal was disappointing. Maybe I had too high of standards coming from New York and being used to good Asian food but everything we tried was a flop. Tried two dishes with pork (the ribs and the bun) and both were overcooked or honestly just wrong. My partner and I agreed that it was probably one of the worst meals we've shared together. If you're not used to good Asian food this place may work but otherwise don't waste your time, go get something else instead. read more

Short and sweet, the pork belly bao was tasty but a bit too much sauce made it lean on the sweet side. The pad Thai was good and it had all the flavors you would expect but the flavors were very intense. My girlfriend had the lettuce wrap and loved it. The edamame, if you're expecting traditional boiled and salted this is not it. It's tossed in a tangy slightly sweet sauce that's ADDICTING. Highly recommend that. read more

Avoid this place. Went last Sunday with my kids and ordered the Short Rib. Fortunately my kids didn't try it. Apparently it was rotten l, and I ended with food intoxication, total dehydration and in the hospital for a night. I wrote a message to them by email and Facebook (the latter they clearly read) and they didn't even care to reply. Clearly this cheap place doesn't care for quality control. I so wish I read the reviews on Yelp before coming here. I ended up getting really sick shortly after having dinner. I should have been more cautious after noticing that none of my dishes were served hot, but instead were just above room temp. Not sure if it was the calamari, dumplings or shrimp that did it. Luckily I brought natural remedies with me on this trip just in case if food poisoning. This helped prevent my situation from being as bad as the previous reviewer that got food poisoning as well. read more
