I have been to many counselors over the years and she was by far one of the best. She was clear and concise and helpful for the issues I was dealing with. I was able to work through problems verbally and she was able to give practical advice to me that were very easy to enact in my everyday life. She transferred me to NP Rhonda Browning, who is the best practitioner I could hope for, with her extensive knowledge of both psychiatric illness and the role played by hormones in that. (She is both a psychiatric and an OB/GYN nurse practitioner.) I have a chronic mental illness for which I will probably take medication for the rest of my life, and I will never willingly change to another provider. Family Focus is VERY CLEAR that they are private-pay only and do not file insurance. That was made clear to me even in the crisis I was having when I originally became a client. I am willing to pay out of pocket for the care I receive here. As far as charging for missed appointments, nearly EVERY mental health practitioner does the same. Don't give too much credence to the negative reviews by people who don't understand how their insurance coverage works.

There is no concern of the parents time or the child's time out of school. I went against my better judgement and tried to go back again and they did it to me again!! So here I am. Had to jump through hoops to get off work. Waited weeks for this appt only for them to cancel the appt 3 hours before we are to be there. Of course I will now have to wait weeks to find another provider. If you don't have a mental health issue you will have one after dealing with the crazy policies of this place!! Not only am I glad that I decided to take that leap, but I am THANKFUL I found Dr Warner. My first appointment was a series of questions while i sat and answered them all, Dr Warner assessed me. From my fidgeting, to flighty responses, hair twirling, switching of right to left crossed legs. He listened to my responses, asked more questions then explained to me in GREAT detail of why I was unable to get a grasp of my own mental health. He educated me on how the brain works in response to certain situations (while giving me examples so that I could fully understand) I was dealing with at that moment. I probably asked too many questions, but, he never once rushed me, or dismissed how I felt. he was upfront, honest, raw even. To me that's important. To have a Psychiatrist who is 100% completely transparent, while explaining my diagnosis, educating me in regards to how it works, what medications treat my diagnosis and what he planned on doing moving forward with my treatment plan. I honestly left his office more confident than when I went in. Pretty impressive. Also the staff, Trina and Maggi. BRAVO Ladies... exceptional, compassionate, on point all while making this internal "horror story" I had built up in my head the most effortless process ever. You girls are AMAZING! Thank you all for everything. This is truly going to change my life in ways most won't ever understand. Also one one thing, I want to chime in on the 1 review, in the new patient packet they have you fill out, there is an entire section you must initial and sign off on stating you understand that Dr Warner does NOT fill out any disabilty paperwork at all, what so ever - I mean you have to initial next to the statement showing you understand and acknowledg. Leaving a bad review for a Doctor who is truly an amazing Dr , for something you messed up and dropped the ball on is wrong. ppl if you are gonna review a business make sure 100% you're being upfront and honest about it. My next and current Psychiatrist diagnosed me with severe borderline personality disorder. I've been disabled by definition for most of my life. He let me down really hard. He made me scared to go to another doctor. The only reason I didn't send this years ago was, because I was scared that something would happen if I did. Thanks for nothing, Dr. Warner.

My husband and I were referred to their services by our daughter's pediatrician. At the time we…read morewere looking for gifted placement testing for our daughter. We booked an appointment almost immediately. On the day of testing, the psychologist, Dr. Sellers, made my daughter feel comfortable instantly in order for her to be calm and collected. Parents were not allowed in the room for testing. It was about 45 minutes or so, then we were told to come back for the 2nd round a couple days later. All was great for the 2nd round as well and got results back within a week. The testing was necessary for her to get into a gift program with the East Baton Rouge School District. Even though the testing price was a pretty penny, we still went through with it. This office is located off of Perkins Road on YMCA Plaza Drive. Give them a call to schedule your child for gifted placement testing, if you are looking to get them tested privately rather than through the school district.
