first off they deleted my google review. Not sure why a business would do so but it's 2024 worst things have happen. I wish production company's would stop using sessions payroll. it's been over a month to get all of my checks. I'm waiting on almost 3,000 and to not receive them all is disheartening . They emailed me to confirm my address for November 13 and since then I only received 2 checks and my last day of work from production was October 25. It's crazy to me to even wait this long to get paid as an actress. read more

It seems like recently they are flooding this page with a bunch of fake five star reviews. I contacted Sharon last week because my W2 from a project that I worked on in June of last year still had not shown up either in my mail, or in my email. And, she told me that they were having an issue, and to contact them next week. So, a week goes by, and I contact her again, and she tells me that they are having an issue, and to contact them next week. Something tells me that when I contact her next week, she will still be telling me that they have an issue, and to contact them again next week. Their payroll software has been broken for over two weeks, shouldn't they get somebody to come in and fix it, instead of making a bunch of fake accounts on yelp to leave five star reviews for themselves? One of the reviews even says that the guy got his W-2s from Sharon, but if that is true, why has she denied me mine for the past two weeks? It seems super suspicious to me. I believe the one star reviews on here a lot more than the five star reviews. The only reason why I am leaving a two star review, is because whomever it is that is emailing me back, is emailing me back very quickly. Which is better than being totally ignored. Edit: I guess that they saw this review, because they were suddenly magically able to send me my W-2 form, so because of that I will raise my review to 3 stars. read more

Sharon M. is one of the most helpful persons I've ever dealt with. Sessions Payroll handles thousands and thousands of paychecks for Background Actors like me, yet somehow Sharon connects in a way that is so refreshing for such a large company. They don't deserve even 1 rating. I called several times to ask about my missing checks, now 2 months waiting. They are rude and liars, they will tell you we have sent the checks and you need to wait, which is only lies. They pay some in time and some not. I wouldn't recommend any film production use their payroll services. I've been doing Stand-In work for over a month..basically full-time and I've only received 3 checks. They owe me like 9 more checks and counting. When I talk to staff they always give me a date that they sent out the checks...however where the hell are they at? And there are numerous other StandIn and background on the same set as me experiencing the same problem. I've never had this problem before. I work in accounting for a company that gets kids into commercials/tv/film as extras. We deal with / process thousands of checks a year, and I am familiar with all of the payroll companies; particularly, how they handle missing or erroneous checks. With the volume of checks that these payroll companies are putting out on a daily basis, there are always going to be some small mistakes. What's important to me is how those mistakes are rectified. There is an undeniable undercurrent to the entertainment business that extras are treated pretty poorly, and oftentimes that gets reflected in how they are treated even when it comes to payment. They give you the runaround or make it impossible to talk to a person (ie you can call between 3-4pm on Tuesdays only or some nonsense). There's a particularly large extras payroll company that is notorious for this, and they've actually made it even worse lately. This is people's rent & bill money, and it really bothers me when companies are reckless with someone's livelihood. Sessions is not like this. They've become one of the more customer-forward payroll companies out there. They are nice & treat people like humans. There are a lot of old reviews here and all I can say is that things have improved there immensely. I consider it one of the best payroll companies to deal with, and much better than some of the acronym companies that occupy a similar market space. The employees I've dealt with (shout-out to Lala) have all been smart, knowledgeable & they commit to the follow-through. Caring, even if it's an illusion, goes a long way. I rarely have any sort of influence over which payroll company a production chooses, and I know a lot of factors go into making that decision -- but I wouldn't have a problem recommending Sessions (and have in a few instances). You don't know me but if you are a production employing kids as extras, all things being equal you would be doing me a real solid if you use Sessions so I don't have to spend months chasing down some check that never arrived. :) read more

I just wanted to say that the staff at Sessions Payroll have been outstanding during this pandemic. I know things are crazy and uncertain with everything being SO digitized on set these days (contactless). Things get missed on paychecks, addresses change, and there are errors or oversights, which happens. I just really want to thank them so much for their help and communication via phone and email...Empire casting payroll has been the worst to deal with (at least since the pandemic), and it makes me feel so appreciative for their responsiveness. I implore any production company to forego using this company's payroll services. Every other extras payroll company (EP, EFS, etc.) in town is prompter, friendlier & they don't lose your money. I've worked with Sessions off & on for 5 years; they regularly lose checks & it's pulling teeth to contact them to replace it. They don't mail checks in envelopes for starters, they mail out SUPER OBVIOUS, tear-side checks that are easy to lose & even easier to spot & steal. In my 5 years doing extra work, I work a lot more for Entertainment Partners payroll (they also offer online W2 print-outs) & I have never NOT received my paycheck, within a few days at that. With Sessions, you work rarely, say a few dozen times a year, but you will be missing a check or an earned bump or two & it won't be replaced or dealt with for weeks, and even then after leaving multiple repeat messages; there is no way to contact an actual person via their phone line as an extra. Please production companies, do not hire Sessions payroll. I don't know what discount they offer over the other companies but it cannot be worth it. They are sub-par to say the least. read more

I have been working in entertainment for over 20 years. Everytime I start a new show, I request Sessions as my background payroll service. I know that my payroll is in prompt and accurate hands. I always request the same payroll coordinator (keeping that a secret, so no one steals her) and never have issues (except maybe USPS ones). As long as the Studios are willing to let me, I will always us Sessions. read more

Use EFS instead. They are prompt and friendly. Have never had a problem with them! My child has worked background on numerous jobs, because he is a child performer the Coogan Law applies to him. 15% of his gross income MUST be deposited directly to his trust account by the payroll company within 15 business days of work. Sessions does not take this law into account at all, and they do not seem to even know they have 15 days. Two checks were cut for his time. The first check was cut 7 business days after he completed a fitting (this is the 85% paid directly to him), it took 20 business days after the fitting for the 15% to be deposited to the trust account. Sessions says they do not do electronic transfers. The second check was cut 7 business days after he worked (again the 85% paid directly to him-which we received within 4 days by mail and deposited ourselves in the trust account the next day) but as of today the 15% has yet to be deposited to his trust account! It is now 23 business days since he worked. They cut and mailed the check for the 85% 16 days ago, why wouldn't the 15% be done at the same time??? I called 3 times and left a voicemail since the beginning of February as they request so they can get back to you....no one ever returned my calls. Today I called the number listed on their website (instead of the one on the pay voucher) and was told that money will not go out until after the report was run on March 1st for trust accounts! Marcella and Sonia are two of many evil people from this company. For my 2012 tax return, I only received 45 dollars out of 361 dollars from the State. I am STILL trying to get the rest of money till this day. The owner of the place has been ducking and dodging my concerns. They had put my W2 forms under RE: Productions, and not Sessions payroll, and because the CA state bureau doesn't recognize it in that title, they couldn't verify my 361 dollars that I was supposed to receive. :( My heart is broken, and I am so close to taking legal action against Sessions. read more

i've worked in the entertainment industry for 20 years now and consistently have had this payroll company not report my earnings to social security or unemployment, as well as my SAG pension, resulting in huge amounts of money lost. i know numerous other people who have the same problem...just google this issue with them. any production considering using them should be away that they may be liable for this. find a company that does what you hire them for...these people may jeopardize you. there are currently discussions for class action legal action in the works. read more
