After I did a little yelping, my man came here to do his taxes. Although this place is reasonable compared to some CPAs, which charge +$200/hour, Ben charged my man $150 even though we were quoted $120. It is shady that my man was not given any explanation for the additional charge. I loathe any business that subjectively changes the price for their goods and services. It usually makes me feel extremely uneasy because you never know if the root is discrimination or some equally unacceptable reason. It is not really about the $30, as my boyfriend did get a sizable return, it is the principle. I know my man's tax situation is simple and straightforward, so I will just have to continue to look for a competent, trustworthy, reasonable tax person in Los Angeles. I went to H&R Block last year and that was one of the worst experiences ever, they messed it up, I dealt with several people AND I had to wait and watch for hours as they did it in front of me. I felt like god was playing a cruel joke on me. That being said, Ben is amazing and makes this process as painless as possible. He is extremely patient and has a calming presence.
