In my opinion, some people simply do not understand how estate sales work. Estate sales are, by nature, liquidation sales. Some occur after the death of a loved one, while others happen because someone is moving into assisted living, a retirement home, or downsizing. The clients are often grieving children, family members, or close friends. Emotions run high. They are stressed, sometimes coordinating everything from out of state, dealing with inconvenience, loss, and difficult decisions all at once. Tensions can understandably be high, and unfortunately, some people can never be satisfied. From my experience, the smaller items are what estate sale shoppers most often purchase. Most people attending estate sales are not typically looking for large furniture or appliances. Rarely do buyers think of estate sales first when searching for those bigger-ticket items. Personally, I try to educate my children, family, and friends that estate sales are actually one of the best places to look for furniture, used appliances, cookware, dishes, and household items. The bottom line is that some of the people leaving negative reviews simply do not see the bigger picture and, in my opinion, do not fully understand the realities of estate sales.
