This is a really nice little restaurant in the shopping area of Beecroft. It's not often you find a fine dining establishment in the suburbs out on its own, but this does a great job (apparently for 20+ years) of quality Italian food in a stylish little shop front. Only a dozen tables or so, the service was attentive and charming without being overbearing. They were quick with a laugh and a good-natured joke.
The stand-out attribute of the food was the portion sizes. It's not often you order pork belly and get something the size of a full pork roast, but it happened here and with a delicious mustardy sauce and crunchy potatoes was the highlight of our meal. The tomato salad was a bit lacklustre (the tomatoes were a bit too bland for it), but the veal saltimbocca was very good as was the scallops with mushrooms and prosciutto. We gave it our best shot but ended up leaving a fair bit on the plate, which the staff were only too happy to put in a doggy bag (and we weren't the only ones leaving with some left-overs).
We'll definitely keep this in mind for a quiet romantic dinner again... we might just skip lunch first next time! read more
