When I finally managed to connect with Dr. Hall, I could see her on my computer, but she couldn't see me. I would have tested the link in advance, but the test procedure failed to operate. The last straw was Dr. Hall's lateness. She was not ready to start a conversation with me until 25 minutes AFTER my scheduled time. According to Dr. Hall, her previous appointment had 'run over'. I don't plan to reschedule my appointment with her.

We were desperate - we got a list of potential therapists from a hospital and reviewed the bios of the therapists. Katelyn's bio stood out, so we called her first and left a message. Before we could even call the third therapist, Katelyn was calling us back. She was willing to see my daughter that evening, staying very late to accommodate her first therapy appointment. Since that day, Katelyn has been the single most important person in my daughter's recovery and healing. What is as important to me is how available Katelyn has been to support our family as we supported our daughter through her most difficult times in life. I am grateful to share that our daughter is healing after seeing Katelyn consistently for the past few years. When issues came up afterward, I was left feeling dismissed and unsupported. I paid for medical care and instead felt like I received a rushed, low-effort appointment with no practical resolution. There are times when we become overwhelmed and need some professional objective advice on how best to process and move forward in a healthy way. I decided after a pretty telling incident that I needed to speak with a counselor about breaking bad habits and becoming more self aware. The neighborhood is in Old Louisville and the Counseling Center is located right across the street from Dizzy Whiz. The atmosphere is like visiting your Grandma's house. When you walk into the reception area there are big comfy arm chairs, candle's lit, and plants. The reception area is usually empty since the counselors are working, but just relax and take a seat. I had the pleasure of seeing two counselors at this location. My first experience was with Nancy Waters. Nancy did one-on-one counseling with me. Nancy was very compassionate and was always so welcoming. During my first visit, we talked about my expectations, my major concerns, and the flexibility I needed. Nancy was able to address all of my wants and gave me great flexibility for scheduling and payment. Nancy supported the format I needed to keep my sessions on the right track to accomplish my goals. Now everyone is different, but I was able to feel confident I could work independently on my "opportunities for improvement" without counseling after a year. I am still able to check back in with Nancy whenever I need. During our time together she even allowed me to call her on her day off to help with a stressful situation that I needed advise on. The other counselor I got to see was Dr. Peter Salerno. Dr. Salerno had a more limited schedule and set payment fee, but his sessions were just as insightful. I met with Dr. Salerno for relationship counseling. I was slightly overwhelmed being in my first long term relationship and got some great tools on how to communicate and work through conflict. I never had to contact Dr. Salerno after hours, but did receive homework that I worked with my partner on. I apply the lessons I learned from my counselors at Old Louisville Counseling Center to my daily life everyday. For the transitional and lost feeling, I felt only a year ago, I now feel more confident about the decisions I make and have great tools for moving forward into a healthy future. He was there for me when I was in the most crippling depression and anxiety of my life . He was so supportive of me. He has a no b.s. approach which I appreciate. Terry helped me get through some tough relationship situations , as well deep trauma therapy, including EMDR. I went from laying on a couch all day sleeping, to finally living life again. He helped me find the courage and reminded me how strong of a person I am. I don't know what I do without him. I'm glad I called Kentucky counseling and they set me up with him. The experience I witnessed Ms. Moorman having with a loved one/prospective client included such rudeness and unprofessionalism, that I questioned whether we had dialed the wrong number when looking for a therapist for this loved one. While we initially thought highly of this service provider based on their psych today profile, a 3-minute interaction with them reinforced a lot of the fears that my loved one had about trusting a therapist in the first place...it's a good thing they were not in crisis when they reached out as this may have been even more damaging. Thankfully, my loved one is insightful enough to understand that this professional does not represent the majority, and they are continuing their search for a good therapist. Ms. Moorman - I felt it was necessary to not only provide you with the review you earned, but also to remind you that as a helping professional, your actions and disposition matter. And because of the responsibility you have as a designated safe space, the wrong actions and disposition can be especially harmful towards the people you are supposed to help. It's unfortunate that Ms. Moorman's only review at this time is such a shameful one. Hopefully, they utilize this feedback to improve their professional skills.
