I got a manicure and a swedish massage. The massage was great. The massage therapist asked me about any medical issues beforehand, and she did focus on the areas that I described as my problem areas. My manicure left a little bit to be desired. I thought the manicurist was really nice and the experience itself was pleasant and comfortable. But I wasn't really that happy with the quality of the manicure and the polish started to bubble and peel up around the edges on the 2nd day. My polish lasts longer than that when I paint my nails at home. But the reason I gave the spa 3 stars out of 5 is because of the facility itself. The changing area and waiting room are way too small for how many people were coming in and out on a Saturday. A group of us made appointments together and the locker room was so crowded between the 5 of us and other guests that it was uncomfortable. There was a line of people waiting to use the restroom and the staff told us that was the only bathroom available. I had to stand aside waiting for 2 people to move so that I could get to my locker. The layout of the locker room is lacking privacy as well since I was changing towards the front of the room where people coming in and out walked right by me. The robe seemed especially thin, particularly in the upper chest area. The loungey waiting area is co-ed and almost every seat was taken when I was waiting for my massage. It would have been nice to use the steam room or enjoy a cup of hot tea after my massage but I really just wanted to change and leave so that I could be out of the way of others. As for the massage room, I wish the room had been darker and more quiet. You could clearly hear what was going on out in the hallway at the very beginning of the massage and it made it hard to relax. Maybe if you came during a weekday when it is less crowded then you may have a completely different experience. I was expecting a "spa experience" given the pricing of the massage, and overall I felt disappointed.

However, my overall experience is a 1 star because of everything that happened after Kim. My husband scheduled me for a massage and facial, hair cut with blow dry, and manicure. It was to start at 10am and I was told to expect to stay until 12:30ish. They asked if I would need any snacks and I said that would be great since I'm pregnant. I figured 2 and a half hours and I would get some lunch afterwards. After my awesome massage and facial with Kim, I had high hopes for the rest of the experience. Paige was to do my hair cut and manicure. I told her I wanted to cut my long hair shorter. About shoulder length and shorter in the back to longer in the front. She starts off by spraying water all down my shirt (she did apologize a few times). Then she tries to wrap my hair in a towel...and can't. So she begins my never ending haircut. There's no chit chat. It's dead silent in the spa. Except of course for the owner chatting about someone in her family upsetting her and the occasional curse word. Professional. Kim notices I've been sitting there (forever) awkwardly with nothing to pass the time since no one is even doing a little small talk with me and asks if I would like some magazines to read, which I gladly accept. When she looks like she's finishing up I'm thinking to myself about how I'm going to have to get this fixed somewhere else. My right side is at least an inch longer than my left. She hands me the mirror and goes on about it. Then finally says "do you think one side is longer than the other?" Hm, maybe. She "fixes" it twice. The right side is still longer. I stand up done and then "oh wait just a second" and begins cutting off the back as I'm standing up. There's really no difference between the front and back in length. Now my "manicure." I use this term very loosely. There is absolutely, 110% no way Paige is certified to do nails. She soaked my hands in soapy water and began scrubbing them with a nail brush (flicked water all over my face). then squeezes some cuticle remover on them, rubs it, pushes with a cuticle stick..thing? (never seen this before), and tries to remove my cuticles which are not soft at this point so that was painful. She asks me how I like my nails and I say just a little trim. My nails were long and healthy from prenatals. She begins cutting my nails with a cuticle trimmer/toe nail cutter. I honestly think she was confused as to why she was having such a hard time trimming my nails. She cuts one too short and says oops, then continues cutting all of them short. "Files" them. Buffs them incorrectly. Then gives me the saddest, shortest hand/arm massage ever. Paints my nails like a 12 year old at a slumber party and sprays an absurd amount of dryer all over. Now my nails look as sad as hers did. They're all uneven and unshaped. Oh, and this took 4 1/2 hours. I did not leave there until 2:30. My 2 1/2 hour spa day took 4 1/2 hours. I'm pregnant. I had not eaten more than the banana they gave me in 6 hours. I left and cried. It was that bad. I've already scheduled my appointment to get my hair fixed tomorrow morning. I would also like to add. I don't know what's up with this "genbook" site and all their amazing 5 star reviews. 33 reviews in 2 months? All perfect? Someone called Paige wonderful? I wonder who made those.
