Once inside you are transformed into a Christmas fairytale...or so the theme feels like that this year. It was a beautiful walk through which takes about 45 minutes to breeze through it. But definitely about an hour and a half is sufficient. You can get all your Christmas photos and get your glow on!!! Personally the horse carriage and the hanging lights you walk through are so fun. I loved it! The little lit up train was also very very cute!!! In hall a there is a fun area and lots of food options...I personally liked the grilled cheese food truck. They even have a Christmas market there to buy some goodies! Neat little concept for sure. There is s mandatory $10 parking fee...which is a ding but at least the parking is secure and safe with minimal walking to the expo center. Overall. It's worth the money spent. Get glammed up. Check your coat so you get beautiful photos. And definitely have a drink and enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights!!!!

If it was busy, it might take time to get your photo in the perfect spot. On a weeknight, it was mostly families with little ones to enjoy the train ride and lights. Most of the time, we didn't have to wait too long for photos in certain spots. Glow is in two adjacent halls with one hall having a stage and vendors selling holiday themed items. There wasn't any entertainment on the stage when were were there. The other hall had food trucks, tables and chair, large displays, and Santa! The line up to see Santa wasn't long and there's a helper to take photos with Santa on your phone. I was expecting more light exhibits but it was a bright place and something fun to do during the holidays.

There's only a few vendors selling a modge podge of things. There was a sad place to buy coffee and hotdogs and also a Bannock food truck. They also had some musicians playing but they stopped shortly after I got there and didn't start up again. All in all, if you're in the area on a Friday night, you might as well stop by. But don't go out of your way because there isn't really anything super special about it.

That said this one isn't that amazing just by virtue of its small size. There are only a few vendors. These vendors are of course excellent and it's nice to have the opportunity to frequent a farmer's market type event at such a late hour, but it isn't perfect. On my first visit I bought prune plums and they are quite delicious. The clothing was quite pretty but I didn't feel in the mood to browse for long. Perhaps evening events like this will grow as downtown grows and becomes more vibrant outside of the bar scene in the evenings. One can hope! :)

The main stage has free acts and music everyday right next to St. Albert Place and the Library (yay for air conditioning and inside washrooms). The festival is spread out all along the river bank to Lions Park and downtown St. Albert. Festival Admission is free; though, most activities/shows range from $3-$11 with tickets you buy in advance. There are a few activities usually sponsored by businesses like Enmax and SaveOn as well as street performers wandering around. Parking is nonexistent or close to it so take advantage of the free transit bus through St. Albert transit from St. Albert Centre (mall). Love to watch the kiddos perform and really appreciate that our local schools get to visit every year! Can't wait for next year!

I love that they added a fresh fruit vendor. It's great to see healthy options pop up at events like this..... though I'll admit that I didn't get any, and instead opted for green onion cakes and ice cream. Hey, it's tradition. Hopefully the next generation can form new traditions involving the fruit vendor, because I'd like to see him stick around. :)

We didn't mind walking after parking in the residential area. The variety of vendors are great. There will also be the ones selling produce, but there were also plenty of food vendors sampling tastes and some options were ready to consume. If not, there are numerous food trucks available and some seating which is always great when you don't have walk and eat. It can get crowded but I find the layout is not too congested and I was able to walk around and see the items I wanted to. In addition to food, there's jewelry, clothing, and home decor. here's a kid's play area and the library was also open inside. There are porta potties but also toilets inside too. Great place to spend a Saturday morning or afternoon!

They blow a fog horn at 10am when the vendors are allowed to start selling their wares and it blows again at 3pm when the market closes. There are so many vendors at this market and they rotate from week to week and year to year. Some booths are consistent and show up every year while others may come only a few weeks of the year. Of course there is the classic food vendors: garden produce, fresh seasonal fruit, hot food/drink (food trucks), and custom foods (pies, cookies, beef jerky, fresh/frozen meats, perogies, etc). But there are a lot more hand made items: wooden patio furniture, jewelry, garden items, knit clothing, and other knick nacks. And there are the alcohol suppliers now: craft wines, craft beers, distilleries, mead, and doesn't kombucha even have a little bit of booze in it? ;) A few of my favorite anchor booths are listed below. Viravongsa's Farms: they have a legit farm near Red Deer and offer the freshest locally grown produce. Family owned and operated and their prices are fair. Confetti Sweets: They offer a great selection of cookies. You can buy them as a single or get a volume discount if you buy 3 or more. My favorite is the Oatmeal chocolate chip.

This winter festival lasts about 4 days in January and was started in 2003. This year (2018) was…read moremy first visit and the temperature was a very chilly -20C, great for ice sculptures but not so great for standing around outside too long - kudos to the brave volunteers at the gates standing around handing out guides and giving directions! On Saturday afternoon there was no wait at all, but in the evenings it might be easier to buy your ticket online and skip any ticket line by going through the VIP booth. The ice carving happens at the start of the festival, followed by judging, and then the finished pieces are on display till the end of the festival. There is also an ice bar, which this year seemed heavily sponsored by Strathcona Spirits including a nice hot buttered rum drink which was just the thing to warm up with! A food truck also offered nonalcoholic hot drinks and hot food also. Apparently in previous years there's been an ice slide for kids, but that wasn't present this year. There was an ice carving tent also, offering regular opportunities for both adults and kids to try your hand at carving an ice tile - not as easy as the talented sculptors make it look! The sculptures from the contest were super impressive and illuminated by coloured lights which no doubt look even better at night. The festival was fairly small overall though and doesn't take long to look around. Ice on Whyte this year was absolutely amazing! I think they really did a good job accounting for…read moreweather this year. They had the ice sculptures inside a canvassed area, which kept it from being windy, so allowed for maximum time outside. At -21, frigid, with 80% humidity, we were still able to stay outside long enough to enjoy each of the sculptures. One of the things I liked the most this year was learning how to do an ice sculpture. We made it just in time for the last session of ice sculpture classes, where each person got a square block of ice, a chisel, nails for tracing and some shapes to trace to make our very own ice sculpture! My family is full of love so we all chose hearts :) On a safety note: they even provided PPE! Safety Glasses and Gloves for anyone doing the ice sculptures! There was a separate closed, heated tent where they had beer gardens, which was packed. I felt like this year was very well organized and would definitely go again next year.

Had a fun time here at the rodeo last weekend…read more I'm not really a rodeo gal, but I did still enjoy myself. I had a delicious fresh-squeezed lemonade and a great plate of smokies and perogies with sour cream. I don't have children but I think this would be a fun family outing. They had rides, a dog show, and of course the rodeo. I think it was around $15-20 per person for entry but there was a family rate of I think about $40. Bring extra money for food and tickets.

Its smaller, but there is still much charm to be enjoyed. I would have liked to see more food variety and perhaps more shopping tents but all in all we had a good a time. Great place to bring the kids, but make sure you go on a nice day because there is no where to hide if it starts raining. There was zero parking, so we walked about a half a KM from the industrial side of st Albert, but we didn't have to pay for it! The rodeo took center stage, and the Circus was very good too! Yes. Circus. I will go again next year im sure.
