This place is a bit off of the beaten path. But well worth the effort. We came in a Sunday and had the fish and chips as well as the Sunday roast special; both were excellent. They had a good selection of beers on tap, but most importantly, three cask ale taps. Great garden for kids and families. I recommend this place unreservedly. read more

Lovely Oxford village pub with good food. Stunning garden dining area in the back. Very nice service, quite gracious. Dog friendly. I really like the varied menu, solid choices. Fantastic country pub, helpful and friendly service. We pre-booked and came as a group of 10 for a birthday dinner. Waiting time for ordering starter and main is just right, not too long at all. Although there were a couple main (lamb dishes) ran out at 6pm already which is a shame. The turkey starter was OK, but the main pork belly was amazing! I loved the inventive way they included pork scratching as the crunchy bits and the sauce was just fantastic. Fish dishes was also lovely, huuuuuuge portion and fresh, the burgers were a bit average tho. The restaurant also prepared an chocolate birthday cake as requested, the cake was fantastic! Solid chocolate and tastes so good! Overall a very pleasant visit with very minor criticisms, I'd definitely come back again. read more

Stopped here with my family while on weekend to visit oxford. This was a very pleasant surprise. This is a gastropub with a rustic, but very clean feel in the pub area and decidedly more upscale in the restaurant part. The staff was very friendly, accommodating and responsive. The selection of bitters is good, but the draft lagers are all industrial. The food was excellent. I had a wonderful lamb rump with toasted potatoes and a harissa/apricot purée. My wife has calf liver with bacon. Honestly if you're confident enough to put calf liver on the menu you're either doing something right, or your foolish. Our two kids had meals off the kids menu, that were clearly home made and not the standard fried frozen fries and nuggets. All in all an excellent find. It's a bit on the steep side price wise. read more

The Seven Stars is a really decent independent pub and restaurant. The menu is refreshingly interesting; not just the usual pub classics but not too whacky. It's in a nice rural setting by the village green with a beer garden for sunny days. Food is well presented and seasonal. Good selection of beers and ciders. read more

This is really everything you are looking for in a country pub. It's off the beaten path and the garden looks out to a charming field of grazing horses. There is plenty of space between tables, situated on lush green grass, so it a pleasant place to have lunch, a couple of lovely beers and relax. The food was absolutely outstanding. The three of us got sandwiches and fries and they were all really good. I had the Cajun chicken and tho I loved it, my girlfriends goats cheese and spinach was even better. They came with proper shoestring fries and I think the whole meal was like £7 pounds each (sans beer). If you are in the area, check it out. read more

Ordered mackerel salad was not told it was smoked , should of came with new potatoes arrived with none ! Starter mushrooms on toasted bread arrived on white soggy bread not toasted. So by the time we reordered main had to eat on my own . No apology or compensation. Desert menu poor . Sadly won't visit again ! read more

Terrible food, fish and chips came with oven chips deep fried. The fried came soggy and not crispy. The burger came with terrible bread and the meat in the burger was incredibly dry. I gave the burger the good burger test ( squeezing the meat and it was completely dry with no juices ) the waiter was incredibly rude we asked for the bill whilst he was tidying up a table and he did not even acknowledged us, and then said he was talking to a customer (which he wasn't). They put the tv on for football in the restaurant section, which would of been okay if they didn't put the volume so extremely high. Rude wait staff and bad food. Definitely one to avoid. I have a feeling the 5 star reviews came from the staff. read more

It was my wifes birthday celebration on Saturday 7th May 2011, and I have got to say that this is a delightful establishment. The Staff, although very busy, were extremely friendly and accomodating-nothing was too much trouble for the 4 of us ! The food is of the highest standard, ( although not expensive ) and is obviously cooked fresh. I will definately be returning soon. read more

Enjoyed a really super shared large fish platter for two on a sunny late Saturday afternoon recently, starting with a drink outside and eating inside. Well presented food with a great selection of smoked fish, prawns, home made fish goujons, fishcake and creamed crab pot with good accompaniments - potato salad and garnishes - an ideal sharing platter - all very delicious and with great friendly service too. read more
