We joined after the school year started and words can't begin to describe the open arms by which my children were accepted by the staff, students and other families. My son went from disliking school to missing not being in school even on weekends. Even though we are of a minority race, my children experienced zero racism! The school has outstanding program in academics, sports, chapel and christian ministry and overall experience. In the short 1 year my kids spent here, the transformation is unbelievable- in a good way, it is great to watch them grow into God-fearing, articulate, and well-rounded young people. We are possibly relocating this year, if we do, I'm sure we will miss FCS dearly, if it so happens that we don't relocate, my children will be ecstatic!

Our five-year-old son was kicked out of kindergarten today during his second week of school based entirely on a biased phone call with his previous school, without Fayetteville Christian School ever conducting their own assessment or making any effort to get to know him. The reality behind why we left the previous school is entirely distorted by this previous administration and/or administrator. We withdrew our children because a teacher there physically grabbed and pinched my younger 3-year son so hard, it left visible marks and bruises that lasted for days (which we have proof of). We even showed grace and decided not to report it any higher than their admin level and to this day, we have never even received as little as a sorry from the teacher in question. Rather than taking accountability, that school tried to blame a toddler. This event has left such a lasting effect on my son to the point that when we drive by this school, he must tell the story! While we had minor behavioral hiccups last year, we actively worked to mitigate any behavioral issues that arose with them and always made significant progress. By taking another school's defensive narrative at face value, Fayetteville Christian School chose to judge a child based on a single source of gossip. This decision was made immediately after reaching out to the previous school, without warning. My son is a high-energy five-year-old with a huge heart, but this school gave up on him immediately after his first minor behavioral issue. Keep in mind, he is just starting kindergarten where everything is new and where a big adjustment period is expected. To make matters worse, the staff was incredibly rude and dismissive over the phone. Today was the first and last day of any communication regarding behavior from the front office. They entirely refused to work with us to find a solution, and an administrative staff member even implied that a high-energy five-year-old should be medicated. Suggesting drugs rather than offering a structured partnership or simple patience is a lazy, toxic approach to early childhood education. This institution claims to stand on Christian values, but their actions stand in direct opposition to Christ's teachings. Christ commanded to "let the little children come to me," yet your institution shut the door on a child at the very first sign of effort. You denied our son a fair chance, denied our family a collaborative partnership, and handled this situation with hostility rather than the love of Christ. Their so-called Christian Institution is built on conditional love and self-preservation. If you want a school that actually partners with parents and treats children with love and patience, look elsewhere.

I just read the comment and basically 95% of what they said is still in effect…read more Phones - 1st offense, they take it for a day 2nd offense, they take it for two weeks 3rd offense, they take it until the end of the year. Depriving a working member of society basic necessities in maintaining a job that helps provide themselves or their family basic human essentials is inhumane and immoral. Yes, they are highschoolers, and yes, they are children, but considering the area in which the school is located it is not a far stretch to say that many adults live check by check with the help of their children in order to keep their house and food on the table. They're allowed to make mistakes given their age, but the severity of the punishment does not fit the crime. Education- Most of the teachers do not take the time to accommodate their students learning needs. I've heard horror stories throughout the halls and experienced it myself where teachers will attempt at an explanation of a topic and fail miserably. They will then proceed to be surprised when the entire class failed the test. When the classroom is full of kids who want to learn and better themselves, the problem isn't them, it's the way the teachers teach. Grades- This is one of the things they've changed since my freshman year (14-15) there. Their grading system was once unbelievably difficult and unfair given the 70% = D and 80% = C but by my Sophmore year (15-16) they had changed it back to a fair 10pt grading system. 90% = A 80% = B And so on. Funding- The previous commenter was completely correct. The Gates Four community held highest priority for the school. They will pour funding galore into sports and other activities that the gated community encourages them to do. Jack Britt is manipulated by the rich and unwavering in their constant neglect for the educational requirements of the other 90% of their student population. Crime- The way they handle crime is unbelievable at this school. Their attempts at containing fights has never worked. At freshman orientation every year, they will maintain the same lie that a fight has not occurred since 2005. This is not true. In the three years I spent there I have witnessed multiple fights and heard of many more. Rules- Illogical. We can't stand during lunch unless we're walking around the cafeteria. We are not allowed to have our phones during passing period or lunch. The vending machines only work after school hours in which we are highly encouraged to leave immediately otherwise punishment will ensue. Dress Code- The dress code provides very little expression. Your shorts must go to your knees, your shoulders cannot show, and nothing you wear can be distracting to other students. I had a friend who's Hufflepuff jacket was confiscated because it "disturbed the learning environment". The dress code is also known for being biased based on gender and social class. Many boys would be allowed to wear shorts above the knees despite their female counterparts being forced to cover themselves. It was also observed that kids who appeared to be from Gates Four would be given lesser punishments and let off with warnings when pertaining to dress code. Gang Activity and Drug Paraphernalia- A lot of people are in gangs, and a lot of people do drugs. Not just weed, but the hard stuff. I know a guy who consumed cocaine regularly and shrooms occasionally. I also know people who have participated in gang activity including violent initiation tactics and the supplying of illegal substances and weapons. It often made me scared to interact with people at my school. I stayed away from a lot of people because of these things. Their are multiple examples of the dangers of gangs in this area. Just this year a kid got shot by simply being known as a rival gang member. Other years the McDonald's across the street has been shot up, similarly the mall, but that's just the area. I feel as though I could go on forever about the negative qualities of Jack Britt High School, but all in all I survived and I'm not traumatized. It just really sucked.

Sides the fact that kids from gate 4 would go to that school, the school it self would be more concerned in funding in sports for their ratings than getting new education equipment like computers. And I forgot to mention they play this "School anthem" that's kinda annoying. Do your self a favor and find a better school who is focused on the main purpose in education than being obsessed being top rated in education and sports, so do yourself a favor and go to another school that has can actually let you get a good GPA, not a grading system that says 70 or below is a D, and not get your phone taken for a simple reason

I am going to do my best to keep this review as short as possible. My husband and I looked into…read morethis school for our 4year old daughter (at the time we toured she was 3). After touring the school we were extremely impressed with the class size, the curriculum and the structure we saw. We visited in March or April of 2015. Because we were impressed we immediately wanted to get her enrolled for the upcoming school year which began in September. At the time of our tour their 4yrold class was full and we would have to be placed on wait list. We were told our daughter was next on the list. There was a parent who was having a difficult time she had two kids enrolled but struggling to find work and didn't know if she would be able to afford the tuition for the up upcoming year. Basically the picture painted was that our daughter had an extremely good chance to make the full time list. We paid the registration fee and gave them a check to hold for first months tuition as there was an opening for part time Tues/Thurs. We then placed our daughter in daycare. Our intent was to pull her from daycare once the school year started. Remember all of this was in March/April. My husband and I called several times over the course of the summer to check the status of the wait list. The first time I called I was told that our daughter went from being next on the list to now having 2 people ahead of her. I was immediately taken aback and upset. Because this was a verbal conversation it was my word against theirs. I should have used my better judgment at that point and just asked for a refund of tuition. But I was told to just hang tight. Something could still open up. Part of their "policy" is in order to receive a refund of tuition you must call and ask that they shred your check by July 15. The school year doesn't begin until the Monday following Labor Day. So as I'm calling BEFORE July 15 they still have me hanging on to hopes that our child will get a spot. My issue is the time frames they place before you...the lack of contact on their part during this "waiting period". Existing parents are to give 2weeks notice regarding their re-enrollment for the school year. See the disparity? At the very least when the July 15 deadline approaches they should contact parents on their waiting list to discuss the status and objectives. The only time they reached out to me is via mail a week before open house which took place on Sept 2 or 3rd. When I got the letter I tried calling the school but no one was available to take my call so I emailed them to let them know my daughter wouldn't be attending the school part time. I wanted to include the email exchange, however Yelp advised me that I could not because is includes personal information. The owner (who this exchange took place with) provides her photo, name and email address all over their website. The email exchange is what prompted me to even write the review. The tone, the dismissiveness, the lack of professionalism, the fact that a spot mysteriously opens up once I complain and ask for a refund is all suspect. I want people to see for themselves the kind of administration that runs this school BEFORE you think of enrolling your child. Here's the thing no matter what I feel or complain about the administration should remain professional. The owner would have you believe this is about my child not getting a spot, but this is about a lack of professionalism. After scrambling and by the grace of God, we were able to pull my daughter from daycare and enroll her full time at another private school. She started late but nonetheless she's in. The owner would also have you think that this review is being posted from a place of maliciousness and truly it's not. It's not even about the refund. I asked for one they declined and that for me could have and would have been the end of it. However when I shared my disappointment with the process and the owner took it upon herself to dangle a spot that magically opened up (AFTER MY COMPLAINT) in front of me and then goes on to insinuate that my child doesn't belong at her school BECAUSE she felt some type of way about my email and complaints...this is why I'm posting this review. It's beyond unprofessional, in fact it's down right insulting. **UPDATE The owner decided to comment on my review, you can see just how "professional" she is. She's calling me a liar, did I once call her names?! No I only stated my opinion regarding her tone and lack of professionalism. She begins calling me a liar about an email. If she had READ my review I said MAIL not email. Not once did I say anything about open house and email, so I'm not lying. Anyone interested in the email exchange that Yelp refused to allow me to post I will be more than happy to forward along.
