I love being 10 minutes walking from the the busiest parts of the city -- like the Cathedral area -- but also close to more local and less touristy neighborhoods like Alfalfa and Feria. The hotel is in a street that isn't very busy, so we felt tucked in the whole time from the moment we stepped inside the lobby and were welcomed by their incredible staff. Speaking of staff -- everyone was so welcoming and friendly. The treatment was up there with some luxury hotels we've stayed at. Honestly, I can't say enough amazing things about those working at this hotel. From leaving bottles of water in our car for our drive to cleaning our room at 9 PM because housekeeping accidentally forgot one day -- they went above and beyond with their actions to ensure we felt taken care of. The hotel itself is just gorgeous. It felt like the set of an Andalusian movie. The courtyard, the plants, the subtle touches everywhere; it was one of the most beautiful properties we've had the privilege of staying at. The bed was comfortable, the bathrooms were modern, and their non-cookie-cutter decor made for an incredible first impression. Parking was a breeze -- they charged €24 a day, which is fair for valet parking. Parking garages nearby charge more. I would gladly pay for this again.

The only disappointment we experienced at the Melia Sevilla Hotel was in the onsite restaurant, Quimera for dinner. Although the food is very good, their spontaneous appetizer option was offered in a forced payment manner. The first visit for dinner we were served croquettes by a waiter as a complimentary appetizer and we said we ordered croquettes, he stated these are complimentary. However, on the bill there was a $7.50 charge for 3 small croquettes that we did not request as we had placed an order of croquettes as part of our dinner option in which we received six in the dinner order. Ok, you thought we would have learned our lesson and we did. On our second visit for dinner, another friend joined us who accepted a piece of bread, but the three of us from the previous visit stated we didn't want bread as we ordered dinner options that included bread "chicken and waffles"...which are by the way very good. Again when the bill came, we were charged $10.00 as if each person received bread although only one person accepted "a" piece of bread from the waiter. We could understand if they placed a bread basket on the table with enough bread for each person to charge each person for bread "provided." But NO, they have a RIDICULOUS policy that if one person receives one piece of bread from the waiter, they charge the entire party for a piece of bread. We are so grateful that our fourth guest refused the "FORCED APPETIZER" due to the waiter literally plopping the appetizer onto the table without us asking for it and describing it as spicy which our guest does not like. Therefore, the waiter retrieved the appetizer from the table and no additional fee was charged this time as the rest of the party also refused the "FORCED APPETIZERS." Unfortunately, on our last evening in town, we declined to dine in the Quimera restaurant onsite which based on the lateness of the day would have been convenient and we dined elsewhere in the city.

When we checked in, they gave us a welcome glass of cava in their beautiful courtyard. Our apartment had a large bedroom with queen bed, big living room with two twin beds off that room separated by a curtain, balcony, huge kitchen, and they provided a large bowl of fruit which we re-stocked during our stay from the local markets. Rick Steves says Poeta "captures the essence of Sevilla," and is "timeless elegance, in the heart of Santa Cruz, an old 17th century family mansion; tucked away among cobblestone streets; 17 rooms surround a tranquil central patio where guests relax and enjoy free evening classical guitar concerts. Fantastic view terrace and traditional Andalusian design." Totally agree with all of that. We enjoyed the classical Spanish guitar in the courtyard each evening while enjoying a glass of wine or cava. Absolutely recommend and would love to stay here on every future visit to Sevilla. Great service, too. Carmen, who checked us in was so calm and welcoming. It had been a hectic travel day, and she (or maybe it was the glass of cava?) calmed us right down. The next day, we had an issue w/ our tickets to the Alcazar, and Jose helped us retrieve them, too. Our bathroom was beautiful, but the floor of the shower was very slippery. We informed the front desk, and they sent someone to our room when we were out. My younger daughter, who does not speak much Spanish, let him in, but did not understand what he was saying. He proceeded to pantomime someone slipping. She woke up our older daughter, who speaks more Spanish, and said a man with a clipboard was in the living room. She told him: "Mi padre es loco," he laughed and put some non-slip strips down in the shower. Great stay.

The buffet breakfast was great with many options and quality food, and is worth the 20 euros. There's a small swimming pool on the roof with sun loungers which was very crowded during our 3 day stay. Theres also a gym that's just large enough to get a workout in. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if in Seville given the price, location, and comfort.

We arrived early and our room wasn't ready yet, but we walked across the street for some Tapas and came back and took advantage of the pool. They held our bags until our room was ready around 3. We were able to take full advantage of the pool though. The weather was perfect, and the pool was amazing. Sometimes I'd forget I was in Spain, but then I'd glance over the edge to the architecture and be amazing and in awe. We had 3 rooms for 5 people, and they were able to put us all next to each other on the 2nd floor. Two of our rooms had BIG balconies with a view of the alley, and one had a smaller balcony with a street view. Both nights we were there, we had wine and snacks on our balconies while we got ready to go out for dinner. The shower in our room was also AMAZING. The pressure was perfect!!!! I couldn't decide if I wanted to spend more time in the shower, on the balcony, or at the pool. As far as location, this was also perfect! We didn't have a car, and were able to walk to all of our destinations. The restaurant right across the street was so good, we ate there twice. It was called Bar Bartola. We also went to their sister bar, Bar Alfalfa. One thing to note was the café was adorable, but we never saw it open...but we sure did take a picture of it. So cute! Wonderful stay! Wonderful staff! Wonderful location!
