This is the absolute worst store to shop. The staff are pig ignorant about sewing, fabrics,…read moreknitting, and most everything they sell in the store. The only knowledgeable person is the woman selling the sewing machines. If you need any help or assistance with anything else, good luck. You're pretty much own your own. I can't, for the life of me, understand why this store hires people with no knowledge of the products they sell. Furthermore, every time I asked for assistance from one of their employees, I was given looks, along with exaggerated sighs, as if I was imposing on their time. The store was unkempt and there were trash bins sitting in the middle of the aisles between fabrics. I will NEVER shop at this store again. From now on, Hobby Lobby has my business!

located in the teeny downtown of Eclectic, AL it's a must see if you love fabric like i do. be…read moreprepared to dig and climb over stuff. the inside is like walking into a hoarders house and from what my friend tells me (she's in her early 60s) the place has been that way for years. there are stacks (some almost to the ceiling) of fabric everywhere with just enough space for a walking path. if you are looking for fabric from new designers this is not the place to go; most if vintage to possibly 90's. the building itself is 2 stories but there are only 3 rooms you can actually walk around...i'm afraid to ask what's upstairs because i doubt you could even get to it! i went for the first time yesterday and was in complete shock at the disarray of it all but the prices were good and i do love vintage fabrics. staff, a father and son, are sweet and like to chat. don't be surprised when he pulls out a yard stick and cuts fabric while balancing it on his knee, there's no space on the counter anymore! there's some patterns (mostly 80s/90s), tons of drapery and upholstery, fringe/trims, zippers, buttons and just lots of cottons and clothing fabrics. like i said be prepare to dig! i happened to want a fabric on the bottom of a 2 foot stack! it took 2 of us to pry it out!

I LOOOOOOOVE this place. I went a few years ago on my senior trip with my school's costume design…read moreacademy, and we drove all the way from Panama City, Florida just to get these fabrics. Silks, printed denim, satins, lace, notions, and even patterns (some had been pre used, but that's why they were super cheap. I mean maybe 50 cents.) in this store, you could find just about anything. And the man working (I think he was the owner) was so sweet. He dealt with a crowd of screaming teenage girls like it was no big deal that we were running form one side of the store to the other spazzing out over the fabric selections. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of five is because it was a little dim in one area and there was a slight "going to be buried under so much fabric" feeling, but hey, I haven't been in a few years, so that might have changed. To the avid sewer, this place is a gold mine.
