It's wonderful to see there is a place where kids can still learn how to sew! Renee is a great teacher - not only knowledgeable, but also extremely patient, kind and encouraging. The students can't wait to get there every week and work on something new. Renee teaches them skills that then can be applied to projects of their choice. Some of the things her students are making are phenomenal! I am so glad my daughter was able to fit a sewing class into her schedule - she's already said she wants to continue! read more

History

Established in 2018.

Sewing and Fitting Mentor started at home east of Pine City, MN in the May of 2018 and started teaching Community Ed at the Chisago Lakes School district in September. With wanting to offer more classes especially on the weekends; we opened our Studio in the Franklin Bldg on February 6, 2019.

Meet the Business Owner: Renee B.

I'm Renee, the Sewing and Fitting Mentor, which I created as a solution to the search for my own needs as dressmaker. What I had been searching to find was a knowledgeable fellow seamstress that could help with fittings, diagnosing fitting issues and discuss pattern fitting technique to be used for a given project without having to drive over an hour or into the Twin Cities. Thus, the birth of Sewing and Fitting Mentor. I bring over 30 years of professional dressmaking, fitting, alterations, and pattern design experience to my students. Along with being formally trained and certified in dress and pattern making, I'm also a current standing member of the American Sewing Guild.
