They also stock sleepwear that is both comfortable and flattering, and simple, elegant singlets which can be worn alone or underneath clothing - they're my favourite! Ms Thornton is located in Kew Junction on the up and coming shopping strip, so after you've had your latte and been a 'lady that lunches', get yourself some ladylike undies too!

I remember when Kinky Gerlinki had much fewer stores and, well, back then it was a bit different…read more The concept and attitude are still the same, but way back when, Kinky Gerlinki used to source really cute and quirky fashions from Asia, and I used to love popping in often to see what new flat shoes had arrived in store. KG hasn't lost any of its original charm, it is just creating its own charm now instead of sourcing it. The look is still that slightly out of the ordinary, weird, cool girl aesthetic, but along the way, they figured out how to make it themselves and not have to wait till someone else thought of it. My taste in clothes is a little different now to how it was when I shopped at Kinky Gerlinki (being older and hopefully, slightly more mature) but I still think it's a fun place to shop, and I don't think my KG days are quite over yet. Kinki tends to push the cute kitsch thing a little too far. I get that they're going for an alternative artsy vibe, but some of the stuff in stock is just a little too arts and craft for my liking. I also find sizes here quite weird and inconsistent. For instance things that look great on the hanger just fit strangely, and are tight in all the wrong places. All of this aside, it's nice to see a store that's still doing it's own thing. God knows, the last thing we need is another Supre.

That's what this whole store is... Everything looks just a little bit sad. I get that it is a clearance centre, but high-price label designers in a bargain store? It just doesn't sit well... Plus, nothing is really that cheap? Unless you consider $85 for a satin singlet cheap. My favourite section of the entire store is the 'damaged' section, where you can usually find the really good, new stuff, but perhaps a button is missing. If you are in this store, head to that rack, everything else might make you cry.

Depending on what you're looking for, you can pick up super cheap t-shirts, glamorous dresses ($50 and up) and a truck full of blouses, day dresses, jackets, scarves and hats. It's the bargain hunters dream come true - but remember it's a warehouse store, not a boutique - so you really have to look carefully and dig deep. I'd give yourself at least an hour depending how much you want to spend. The best thing about this place is, you're free to roam about without pesky sales staff following you around.

The shop is bright, clean and modern with on-trend items for any fashion conscious female. I would recommend the store for younger women, say older teenagers through to women in their late twenties. The sizes here are also quite small and the shop caters best to people from sizes six to twelve. The shop assistants in here are really nice and are good at helping style outfits. They welcome you when you walk near them and seem genuinely friendly rather than wanting to push you into a sale. Catalog has a great variety of pretty dresses, nice tops and stylish jackets, which are suited towards nightlife rather than the everyday. In saying that, some people obviously wear more formal clothing daily so it could suit everyday occasions.

Selling a range of the Melbourne designer's own pretty dresses, skirts and blouses alongside a capsule vintage collection, the Arabella Ramsay boutique is as sweet a shop as you'll find around these parts. Ramsay's aesthetic may be a little cute for me but her taste in vintage is impeccable. With everything from very well priced little vintage peasant blouses to giant oversized vintage fur jackets vying for attention with her own whimsical designs. The store itself is beautifully done with ever changing window displays of impressive proportions and one-off pieces such as authentic mexican bags strewn around the place. A cute, accessible and ineffably pretty little boutique.

The result is a store with a unique and interesting collection. Arabella's clothes are divine - they are cute, young and playful and I couldn't help but adore some of her tops and pants with different breeds of dogs on them. That being said, I would never wear them - I'm just not that cute. The vintage is fantastic and I saw some great maxis and skirts that are perfect for summer, but check the items before you buy - I noticed some runs and threads coming apart on a dress. There are bags and other accessories inside too so make sure you take your time to really explore the tiny space - there is so much crammed in here. The sales assistant was lovely; she was extremely friendly and happy to have a chat about the collection and Arabella's work. Hands down one of the nicest sales assistants I've ever met. Good work!

Valentine is the perfect place to find elegant fashions for the more mature lady…read more My mum freaked recently when she was invited to a garden wedding. As most of her formal wear is in basic black, she felt the need to find something more appropriately suited to the setting. So a few weekends ago we ventured out to Broady shopping centre together. Not expecting much mainly because we didn't know if we'd even find a store suitable for my mums age (50ish), we were happy enough to just start wondering around enjoying the special mother daughter time. And then we came across Valentine. A cross between Sussan and Katie's, Valentine stocks a range of work/office apparel, casual wear and more formal outfits for ladies of a certain age. I was really impressed by the age appropriate styles that still managed to pick up on fashion forward trends, which is sometimes difficult for that age group. My mum eventually found a gorgeous floral, knee length dress with thick, slightly frilly straps to give it a real feminine feel. And as my mum is the sort of woman who would never buy a dress to wear only once or only on certain occassions, this was perfect; dressy and formal enough for a garden wedding or dinner out, but casual enough to wear as a nice outing dress for lunch or coffee with the girls. A lovely find and I'm sure my mum and I will take advantage of the opportunity to spend some girly time together again at Valentine.
