Even though Alex was busy and booked up, he gave me free advice on how to remedy the problem: "If you were to attend Home Depot with the photos, they will be able to advise an appropriate compound to repair the MDF material. It's relatively simple to trowel on with a putty knife and lightly sand after. The trick is to not apply too much compound, being better to do multiple coats that one thick one. Hope this helps."
