Way too much going on in here. You don't work with just one hair stylist, but several. Shadi will colour your hair, which he really does an amazing colour... but then you're in whoever else's hands. They had no idea what was going on. I got my hair coloured and then one person is washing my hair, another is drying, and another starts styling my hair. I'm thinking "okay this is a trust the process sort of deal I guess".. nope. This person who styled my hair had thought I already had my hair cut. They were quite upset when they told me I was done but I corrected and said I hadn't even had it cut yet. So I was sent back to the sink so they can wet my hair again but they pulled my hair so badly that I nearly cried... what was the point of that?! Shadified need's to be more organized. One hair dresser per customer and they see them through the whole process. It's an absolute madhouse in there. AND my hair looks HORRIBLE. Looks NOTHING like my reference photo. The colour is nice and thats IT. I have naturally curly hair and my reference photo was natural curl.. my hair is HARD AS A ROCK and STRAIGHT. I will never go back there. Moe K had the audacity to fling a huge strand of hair with bleach on it right into my girlfriend's mouth. He could have poisoned her. He laughed instead of caring. He also said "yeah you need more water" and splashed a lot of water in her face. He painted her ears with bleach and brought up "because of the kid." We don't care about your kid. That has nothing to do with coloring her hair jerk. Gina also did her hair once and shoved her fingers in her face that smelt like the inside of her butt. Gina also drops combs on the ground and doesn't disinfect them. This salon is a complete trainwreck. You just lost a loyal customer and person after mistreating my girlfriend. They do unprofessional finger gestures to and called her a bit*h. This salon should be shutdown. You people disgust me. Also a customer was sitting there filming her without her consent. You think the staff stopped it or said anything? Nope. The manager isn't a very good one to allow all of this to happen. read more

I took my 10 year old granddaughter for a haircut today and was pleased with it. Jina did a good job but I was literally in shock when she charged me $47.00 for it! Afterwards, speaking to a woman at the business next door, I find out that even with long hair, she paid $30 for her haircut. Needless to say, we will never set foot in there again even though their sign out front says "kids haircuts $17+". Sure wasn't expecting $17 + $30=$47!! read more

I would give no stars if I could! Took my daughter and husband today to get a trim and a hair cut and I've never had a more terrible experience at a salon. I literally feel like they butchered my daughter's beautiful hair. We went to White Oak Square's Shadified on 137th and you couldn't pay me enough to go there again- especially with the amount of other salons in the city- but we knew of a family member who went to that salon and lucked out. I would have left this review/ rant on their website/ FB page BUT no surprise there doesn't appear to be that option. I would have brought it to their attention at the salon but I was too upset and didn't feel valued as a client. First off this salon seemed to be more of a social hangout then a place of business. The hairdresser who did my daughter's hair was hard pressed to put her cell phone down initially and the hairdresser who did my husband's hair spent the majority of the time talking to a guy who had just walked in and started talking to him. The woman working on my daughter's hair initially had my daughter seated in the chair (she has long hair and we just wanted the ends trimmed and evened out) but then had her stand while she herself sat in the salon chair cutting my daughter's hair. She then eyeballed cutting the ends leading to it being so uneven. The man doing my husbands hair barely paid him any mind as he was more focussed in having a conversation than doing the haircut we paid for and didn't even ask how my husband wanted his haircut. My husband had to continually ask and show him. Not surprisingly this too resulted in an uneven haircut. It wasn't that cheap in my opinion at $52 and due to Covid hardships we don't even have extra money to go somewhere else to get their haircuts fixed. If you're looking for a touch up yourself, I suggest you go elsewhere as Shadified doesn't appear to value their clientele. I'm no hairdresser but I'm pretty sure I could have done a better job! read more

Orlando is the guy that usually cut my hair he always make sure my fate is Tip Top and always lines up my beard for me those little extras that he does really make a difference definitely come see him or the shadow fight crew here. Service was garbage the last two or three times I was there. I had gotten haircuts before that I was super happy with but the quality has really gone out the window. My last experience was the final kicker to take my haircuts elsewhere. First off the men were arguing over who was to cut my hair and they made fun of me after I had sat in the chair for how long my hair was. I asked just to trim it down on top and the back and get the sides faded. He then continued to not follow my instructions at all and do his own style, very short and the fade was awful. Took about 5 minutes for the haircut. It felt very rushed and he was on his phone most of the time not even looking at my head while cutting. The whole place seemed like a hangout instead of a job, everyone on their phones, bantering with eachother instead of doing their clients hair. This barber shop is hit and miss with the quality of the haircut you receive. Their fades are not bad however, when it actually comes down to cutting hair...it's a whole new story. The first two barbers closest to reception are great. If you get the barber(s) in the last few chair's (closest to their hair washing stations) you're hooped! Two days before my family photos the barber butchered my son's hair/bangs. I told him to keep everything long (as we sweep everything to the side)but to give A LITTLE trim. The barber proceeded to slap on horrible thick gel so I couldn't see what he just did. This ruined my family photos as wax/hairspray couldn't fix this mess. read more

My few of my friends and family came here. Their hair looked great. A few tones of blonde and a nice cut. I ask them how much they paid and they said $100 at shadified. I have MY wedding coming up so I decide to take my business there. BIG MISTAKE. I gave the hairdresser GINA a picture trying to explain I want an ash color, borderline blonde that looks sunkissed. She didn't know what I was talking about and thought I wanted platinum blonde. And didn't even look at the picture I had. She washed my hair in a dirty sink first of all... After the dye my hair came out looking like a bunch of streaks of brown and blonde. Which i specifically told her I didn't want. I thought I would get used to the color but when I got home. I took a good look in the mirror and now I've been mad for days... I feel like cutting all of my hair off. It looks so stupid. To top it offf It came to $189!!!! All my friends told me I got ripped off. And I defianatly feel ripped off especially since it is not at all as I wanted it. My friends also laughed at me saying "I defianatly got shadified'' apparently everyone comes out with hair like this. It makes me sad that Shadified has so many negative reviews. I have been going to this salon for over a year and have had multiple stylists - Each time I have been extremely satisfied with the end results. I currently go to Rana, who works wonders with my hair, but I have also had my hair done by the owner. I never once experienced him being rude or not doing what I wanted him to do. The same goes for Rana. Every time I come in, I am able to show images of what I like. They are honest with me about the ability to do what I want - I'm pretty rough on my hair, so tasks like bleaching or putting in different colours can be daunting or even impossible. Everyone is generally very polite, will smile and say hi, etc. I spend hours here at a time, and I have never heard anyone tell their stylist they didn't like the final product. It can be hard to find a good stylist, but I promise you that if you give a stylist here the chance, they will not disappoint you. They DO listen to what you want, and they will work with you to make sure that you are happy. read more

The only reason they're getting one star is because i can't leave a no star review! I took my five year old daughter here to get a haircut because she requested a bit of a shorter length for the summer. All she needed was a straight across cut, no layers no nothing. The simplest cut. The moron who cut her hair couldn't even do that properly. She had to call in someone else to fix her mistakes. When I finally spoke up and asked what the plan was to fix my daughters hair, they barely acknowledged me and treated me like i was something on the bottom of their shoe. Bloody amazing customer service. Finally the second "stylist" was done "fixing" my daughters hair and when i mentioned that it still looked horrible with uneven ends all she said was "they'll grow out" and then they charged me $25!!! This is a horrible company, location and just business in general. Never go here. They can't even complete a simple straight across cut on a five year old. When I called the owner, he said he'd fix it right away, we went back and all he did was add a toner/by the end it looked like there was no highlights. I've been coming here for many many years and I see Shadi who is one of the owners. I have never really had any issues with my hair colour or cut. I did have an issue with how it was styled one day, but I spoke up and it was immediately fixed. I continue to come here because they do good work. I get many compliments on my hair and I always let people know that I come to Shadified. When I lived in Red Deer for 2 years I also would come back to Edmonton to get my hair coloured and cut by Shadi. I have tried many other places and they are fancy with all the bells and whistles but I left unhappy with my hair cut and colour. So I came back to Shadified and never left. Some things are getting worn out like the chairs at the washing stations and they don't always look organized and grab each other's clips, but that doesn't bother me because I know I'll leave happy with what my hair looks like. And ultimately that's what I'm there for. read more

The girl doing my hair kept complaining about having to do my hair because my hair was damaged and would take a bit longer. My brother had been before and he had a terrible experience, but I thought it was probably just the barber that was assigned to him. I went today and I got probably the worst haircut of my life. I'm generally not picky about the way my hair looks, but it was truly horrible. First of all, my hairstylist cut my bangs way too short. And now looking at my hair, it's very uneven and extremely choppy. She shampooed my hair about 3 times, so now it's really stripped and dry. Moreover, receptionist was dismissive and unclear. I went here this afternoon for a looooong neaded hair cut. As I'm new to the neighbourhood I havent found a salon yet. when the woman sat me down she automaticaly asked me what colour i would like to go. I let her know that I only wanted a hair cut. She kept badgering me lowering the price and begging me to colour as she said she "would make me so beautiful" finally feeling extremely uncomfortable, I gave in. again she asked me what colour "Blond?" as I have very dark hair and haven't gone light before I said absolutely not! she then agreed and said she would only add a few light highlights. watching her in the mirror she started to just dump chemicals willy nilly into the bowls no measuring nothing! 2 hours later and a complete head of foils later once we got back to her chair I now look like a yellow and black zebra. when it came to the actual I had asked for a long bob with angled bangs. she just started cutting away with no care. no bangs no bob! and $150 later! i was in such shock at this experience that I didn't feel I should say anything as I didn't want her anywhere near my head again!! i'll either go somewhere else or wear a hat for the rest of the year. They do fades here. By far the best I've been to, I'm still fairly new to Edm. and have been to a few barbershops but I haven't found any other place who understands what a true fade is. By far the most unclean/unprofessional barber shop I have ever been to. The filth was nightmarish, all the counters in the barber shop seemed to have a layer of grease and dirt over it. It was repulsive beyond belief. When the barber dropped the scissors being used, they continued to use them without cleaning it! And that's just the beginning. The customer service was unforgettably atrocious. My barber was talking to others non-stop, laughing and screwing up my haircut. Worst haircut I have received in my life. PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO HERE! I came here to get my hair cut, and personally my experience was great, not really busy at the time I went so they weren't rushed or focused on other customers. But recently I took 2 family members to get their hair cut mind you it was busy the barbers helping 2-3 customers at once not focused on the one. Not naming names but the male family member was saying he never had that much pressure on his head from the barber pressing on his head with the clippers & it wasn't the best cut. And the female family member I brought the guy she got was running around, on his phone, & not focused on what was going on with her, mind you she had her hair dye in her hair & while this was happening she was literally getting burned by the bleach that was in her hair & I was letting the guy know there is bleach on her, he wiped a little on her neck. I told him again there was some on her ear and he said " it's fine ". Also when she was getting her hair washed the guy did NOT get all the soap out, she repeatedly told him that he was also getting water down her shirt he also didn't pay no mind to that. She wouldn't listen and said that was where it was meant to be. Noticed my eye was swollen and red when i left. A day later i went to The Eye doctor because my eye still hurt and my vision was blurry. The eye doctor said my eye was hemorrhaging and i was lucky my cornea did not get scratched. Got no compensation (not even my money back) and the owner refused to even see me. Instead he wanted me to deal with his family member. My advice is to stay away. I went and requested Rana because I really loved her instagram. It was a simple root smudge. However the job turned out rather blotchy. She then asked me if I wanted my hair curled to which I responded "no." Because my extensions don't hold a curl well and I wanted to expose how "blended" it was and wouldn't be able to see if curled were blended into the hair. She curled anyway and when my extensions wouldn't curl she said "ok straight" but after that point the extension looked rough because it was previously curled. (Those with extensions will know what I mean). Anyways. The service was rushed. She worked on two others at the same time running around. The hair wasn't toned, they simply use purple shampoo. Which I can do myself at home. I came specifically because I wanted a tone. I have purple shampoo at home. I tipped $30 because she's rather old. They shouldn't work her so much or she should retire because it was a crap job. My roots are so blotchy. Had I known I would've just done it myself but the instagram looked good. She only uploads the looks that appear to look okay. Which are probably only about 1/5 of the people she does. When you go know that you're taking a 1/5 chance to have an okay look. The price was rather cheap but I can understand why given that they don't even tone their customers. Just bleach, purple shampoo and rush out the door because they've started two other people while half way through yours. It's a cash grab. The "chop shop" of hair. read more

Awful!!! Please read even the "not recommended review" all the bad reveiws are 100% true!! I went in with 2n dark brown hair which I felt after 8 weeks faded to a 3n. I also had a honey brown ombre (this was done at a different salon) anyway I told RANA I wanted to eventually go light all over. I realize this is not a one step process. I told her to put the 3n on and she said it was too dark for that and that she would still go ahead with the 2n. Ok Whatever, she's the PROFESSIONAL not me. And she said she would put blonde highlights to lighten it up. Ok great. Go ahead. Well after 3 hours I literally came out with zebra stripes. Black hair with big blond stripes. Please see the pics I'm up loading. I was in shock when I saw my hair. 3 different employees told me how great it looked..... I thought maybe my eyes were just not seeing g it properly. After paying 150$, even though the sign on the front window says foils with up to 4 colors 99$. Either way I just wanted to get out of there and at home with my own mirror and see what I could do with my hair. Yup went home, still garbage. I was in tears. I called the salon. They didnt seem surprised that I did t like my hair (they must get that a lot) in their defence they said sure come in tomorrow we will fix. I literally had anxiety all night. I didn't want them to touch my hair again. So I went to another salon . The were also shocked with my hair. They fixed it up for me. I went straight to shadified after to ask for a refund. I guess the policy is shadi needs to fix it and if I'm still not happy then I get my money back. I showed him the pics of my hair and said I simply had no confidence in this salon. Anyways so I tell him what I want anyways as he's getting rdy(blonde hair) He applies the bleach right to my scalp So lemme tell you for 45 minutes my scalp was burning! They got this new girl to wash my hair and water was all over my face and everywhere I get back to the chair Two people blow dry my hair, pulling on the tangles and causing breakage to my freshly dyed blonde hair ( like that wasn't hard enough on my hair ) They didn't add ANY serums or anything beneficial for my hair Only some stupid beeswax u use on men's hair to spike it I really didn't like that my hair turned out one colour bleach white blonde almost white it was sooooo unnatural looking creepy almost Never ever ever again! What a fkn terrible place ! Avoid it unless ur a dude It's a total dudes salon not for women what so ever!!! I followed my stylist to the Shadified on Parsons. While I love my stylist and her rates are actually cheaper than where she used to be, the salon is kind of a pig-sty... It's never clean, shelves are dusty, dirty, grimy, the floor gets swept in the main area, but never in corners etc. The stations are dirty, the mirrors are not clean. It makes me wonder how clean the stuff is that they use in my hair - like combs, scissors etc. Don't know what to do! read more

They have the best stylists for men and female ! Love the colour line they use and the atmosphere, i figured after having such great luck with my hair there that id go get a pedicure too! Its a real shame their aestheticians arent even close to the proffesionalism of their stylists! My feet were soaked in luke warm water and were rougher when i left then when i arrived! The massage was weak and the shellac application was messy and all over the cuticle. With ease the next day all shellac was peeled off and i gave myself a pedi :( read more
