We stayed at a hotel on Pac Hwy and had the wonderful opportunity to walk down to the beach and entertain restaurants and shops along the way. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean everything was, and the friendliness of all the people I encountered. The beach was well kept and the lifeguards very attentive, you can tell a sense of pride by the people who frequent this beach, as it didn't seem the typical tourist destination. I find myself looking forward to visiting every time I can because I always seem to find something to do while at Anaheim and feel as though I have endless choices for things to see, do, or experience. My number #1 reason for traveling to Anaheim is the Disneyland Resort. Both parks Disneyland and Disney's California Adventure provide me with such an amazing experience with all of their food, rides, and entertainment, creating so many wonderful memories! Disneyland is not the only attraction in Anaheim though! I also very much enjoy the Anaheim Packing District. This area has a wide variety of food offerings from several restaurants and vendors located within walking distance. It provides a great option when dining with friends, family, or simply trying a little taste of everything! Another major attraction in Anaheim is the Anaheim Convention Center. It hosts countless events, expos, and conferences annually and adds an incredible amount of energy to the surrounding areas, giving Anaheim the feel of being a central location for business and entertainment alike! Knott's Berry Farm, which is within a short driving distance from the convention center, is yet another exciting theme park choice if you want to branch out with activities on your vacation! I visited Knott's Berry Farm recently and so many changes have happened in the Theme park since I last visited over 10 years ago! There are plenty of fantastic restaurants in Anaheim that can be found all over the city! There is always a variety of good options whether you're picking something fast and easy close to the amusement parks or having a sit down meal. Anaheim is a place with a few different things going on from amusement parks, food, events and a fantastic downtown area, which is part of the reason I continue to come back while visiting from Las Vegas!

Headed over there on the way to take a test trial to see the Port of Los Angeles for a future cruise. The bridge was very nice and similar to the Gold Gate in San Francisco. There was moderate traffic for a Saturday and some mild construction. Definitely nice place to drive over, looking forward to future trips to that area.

Celebrating Ice Skater Alysa Liu's Olympic Gold Medals is what this mural is all about! She is the first American woman to win an individual Gold medal in Olympic figure skating since 2002, when Sarah Hughes won. Alysa also helped the women's team secure a Gold Medal. This achievement earned her a spot in history as the first time a women's singles skater won two golds in one Olympic Games. This mural highlights Alysa testing the gold medal along with showing her skating during the individual Gold Medal performance. What is the relevance of featuring her here in LA when she grew up in the Bay Area (San Francisco)? She's a student at UCLA, which isn't very far from Gardena. Gustavo Zermeño Jr, @gz.jr , is the muralist who created & painted this golden mural. If you want to see another mural he did, go to Kin Sushi House in Torrance. It celebrates 3 Asian Dodgers player surrounded with Sanrio characters (Japanese theme). Super kawaii!! Glad I was able to come appreciate the mural of Alysa Liu's bright shining moments!

For a lot people in the world - from professionals to casual viewers of the sport - the talented young woman captivated our hearts being unapologetically herself and winning the first gold medal for the US in 24 years in women's individual figure skating. For me personally, it was such a point of pride that she really repped the Asian community and Oakland. I didn't grow up in Oakland myself, per se, but I grew up in the East Bay about 20 minutes east of Oakland. She's also the second Asian woman to win gold from East Bay. The other one being Kristi Yamaguchi Who has a temp skating rink in my hometown each year during the holidays. Since I have a lot of family in the South Bay, I knew at some point I was going to visit this mural and admire it. I wanted to do it before it started getting drawn over by disrespectful taggers. Anyway, just a great place to visit to check out this mirror really quick. I had a coffee in hand while doing it and there are a lot of great eateries nearby. City of Upland was home for me in my late teens through late twenties. It is a quiet and beautiful…read morecity. Homes are gorgeous and well maintained. A majority of the city is nestled between the 210 Fwy and 10 Fwy. I still frequently visit Upland and its neighboring cities such as Claremont, Montclair, Ontario, and Rancho Cucamonga. Colonies Crossroads is a huge shopping center with great stores like Kohl's and Target and restaurants like California Fish Grill and Oggi's Pizza & Brewing Company. Sycamore Hills Plaza is on a smaller scale, but is in both Claremont and Upland with Whole Foods, CVS Pharmacy, Starbucks, Chipotle with drive-thru, etc. One of my favorite shops is Upland Donuts... #1 donut shop in my book! Route 66 runs directly through the center of Upland. You'll see some of the Route 66 roadside attractions on Foothill Boulevard. Historic landmarks along the Upland area of Route 66 include the Madonna of the Trail monument (honors the pioneer woman) located at Euclid Avenue and Foothill Blvd. If you're ever in the Upland area, drive on through and enjoy its quaintness and strong sense of community.
