While the school has a…read moresolid reputation, I left disappointed.  Not only in the education my daughter received, but also the overall attitude of the staff and unprofessional communication.   Communication from the staff was often unclear and inconsistent. I found myself acting on their recommendations, only to have them recant those suggestions when it was convenient for them.  It felt like I was being gaslit.  At times, my daughter's provider recommendations were not followed.  They would state my daughter was the only child not napping as an example, but yet there was a room full of children not napping.  They stated my daughter didn't have friends not knowing that we played with kids from class on regular basis and still do to this day.    A particularly memorable incident that encapsulates my experience occurred on Halloween. My daughter was thrilled to wear her light-up princess dress, exuding pride and excitement as she arrived at school. However, the teacher checking in students remarked, "wow, that is distracting," in an annoyed voice, which was incredibly deflating for my daughter.  I think my daughter picked up on that she was not liked by the staff and that impacted her.  The overall lack of smiles or morale didn't seem good in my experience.   Changing a child's daycare/school setting can cause a lot of disruption.  That is the only reason why we stayed as long as we did and tried to make it work.   On a positive note, Soccer Shots, Wee-Move, and Piano teachers/coach were great.

The teachers and staff are all very caring, and got to know our kids really well from the start. Our kids (2.5 year-old in Toddler and almost 5 year-old in Casa) had an easy time adjusting. We have a rule follower and an independent spirit, and the approach at EP Montessori has really helped both of them as they develop and learn. Both of our kids participate in activities that come to school (piano, dance, yoga, soccer) and enjoyed them, too!

My son had a lot of apprehension about day care ( and me too) and as a Covid baby he has not really been around kids or anyone besides his parents. The staff have been so patient with him. They truly care about the kids who attend. It's a smaller place then your traditional day care which is only concerned about making a profit and you can feel the difference the moment you walk through the doors. Melissa who is the Director is absolutely wonderful as are the teachers. I had a great feeling when I went to tour the place and my gut feeling has been absolutely right. A…read morelot of places have 20 kids to a room, but here it's only 10, and there are only 4 classes, divided by age, meaning only 40 kids max in the entire school. They take infants through pre-K. LCELC has very nice facilities that are on par with larger schools. Also, because the school is on church grounds, they have space for a large back yard area (including a garden) and a much nicer and larger playground than others I've seen. I appreciate that the teachers do a lot of fun, enriching, non-academic activities with the kids - probably made easier because the school is so small. The 4- and 5-year olds walk to the park weekly, there's a weekly bike day and water day, and they've been on field trips to Gale Woods Farm and the nearby Arboretum. Tuition runs about the same or slightly less than many commercial places like New Horizons or KinderCare, and includes cold breakfast, hot lunch and a snack. The teachers are very caring and attentive, have proper grammar (and there are places where they don't!) and they have all been with LCELC for a long time. I've always felt confident that they provided my daughter with a safe, fun, nurturing environment and would highly recommend this preschool.
