Our chimney was over 100 years old and badly needed repair and is very high up. There were missing bricks and mortar and the structure was basically coming apart. Joseph and his technician did a great job removing the unstable chimney, rebuilding and flashing the chimney. It was quite difficult to get to the chimney and they carefully planned and set up access, and cautiously took the old chimney down. They both arrived on time, came prepared and were very professional. They cleaned everything after they left -the yard, driveway including using the blower on the lower roof, and then hosing off the roof and driveway. The work was difficult and heavy. We had our chimney worked on in November of last year and due to temps they were not able to complete waterproofing or flashing. Now in AUGUST!! after calling and them rescheduling us 7 TIMES, they finally showed up and did the waterproofing but refused to the flashing without being paid MORE MONEY. On 02.10. 2024, I called Shamrock and told them that the chimney caps they installed were moving out of place and they might fall off. I told Shamrock that I was fearful that the caps could fall, damaging my roof and cars, or injuring someone walking below. Shamrock told me that someone would be out, but no one came out. After 2 months with no response from Shamrock, on 04. 04. 2024, I called them again and said that one of my chimney caps had fallen off of the roof and landed on the side door entrance to my house. Shamrock told me that someone from their company would be out to reinstall the cap, but no one came out. On 04.10, 2024, I called Shamrock again, and requested to speak to the owner; I was told that he would call me the next day, however he never called. On 04.16, 2024, I hired a reputable contractor to assess the work done by Shamrock. They informed me that the 2 caps installed by Shamrock were incorrect, and they were installed incorrectly; Shamrock physically bent the top of one of the caps, because it didn't fit next to the second cap; so there was no room to insert and fasten 2 screws designed to hold the 2 caps securely in place resulting in the cap falling off of the chimney. A reputable company subsequently installed the correct single cap specified for my chimney ($610.00}. They also told me that it did not appear that Shamrock had recemented loose brick as they said they had done, Subsequently, I contacted the MA Attorney General's Office, who put me in touch with a Consumer Advocate to help resolve my issue with Shamrock. On 08.13, 2024, the consumer advocate texted me that "Our customer assistance requires the cooperation of the business, and the owner of Shamrock Chimney is uncooperative; therefore, we are unable to proceed. " The consumer advocate advised filing a lawsuit against Shamrock and provided me with the addresses that the Court could send the subpoena to. I filed a lawsuit in Attleboro District Court against the owner of Shamrock Chimney, and weeks later I received a notice that the subpoena was undeliverable. As long as Shamrock is using addresses that are undeliverable to, they cannot be served a subpoena that compels them to come to court. I am trying to recoup the $610 installation cost of the correct cap, and the additional $50.00 court filing cost. I have contacted the Attorney General's Office of the State of New York to locate these Defendants so they can be compelled to come to Court. read more

What started as a simple cleaning and inspection for $75.00, ended up costing $3,500. Their photos validated a previously incorrectly installed chimney liner that had buckled and a large buildup of cresol. I was shocked as I have my fireplace chimney cleaned at the end of every fire burning season. Their picture also showed where the liner had burned through causing a possible chimney fire. The cement top of the chimney was also cracked, and the cap needed to be replaced. They gave a $250. discount of I had all the replacements and cleaning done immediately. The job took all day. I agreed and paid them in full. The problem was they left and didn't replace the frame to the Napolean insert, the damper rod was stuck, so the flue could not be closed or shut. I called the office, and they said they would schedule time for their return. Three times they did not show, and the office rescheduled. They arrived a little over 2 weeks later to place the insert frame and fix the damper rod. Then they said they will give me a receipt of $75.00 for today's service. I said I will not be paying you to complete and correct the job you have already been paid for. They said they had to call the office. I immediately call the office and asked why they would be expected to be paid extra to fix and complete the job they were just paid $3,500. I have a stainless steel chimney that they came to "clean", which they did a very poor job of that but the important thing is they stole my tcap and I'm unable to make a fire in my wood stove now. I asked them to replace mine because it was getting old, BUT IT WAS USABLE, and they put one that didn't fit on and took my original cap with them. The cap that is on now will cause a fire. My deck is attached to my neighbors deck so their house will catch on fire too. My insurance would not cover a fire because the wrong cap was on the chimney, which would be "my" fault. July I hired Shamrock chimney to fix chimney. The company kept cancelling & rescheduling but finally came out. The technician was Frank & wife. They said the chimney needed to be relined, a cap replaced on the top, They returned the next Saturday (late) & supposedly put in a liner & fixed the basement connection by switching to a new hole. Slathered that with concrete, wall and supposedly replaced the cap on top of the chimney which they glued to the roof & ruined the new roof job, shingles off, concrete everywhere. Not only that but it seems that they only put a top piece in liner in and skipped putting a whole liner in which is a common grift according to the chimney people that came & inspected everything. However it was nothing you could see or know as a regular person so I called them back to do my wood stove. They dodge calls & cancelled appts for two weeks until the finally showed up at 5:30pm on drugs. High, so bad that their blue eyes glowed because of the red ring around the Iris. told me they had a hard day due to van breaking down promised ok to work. called my neighbors over cause don't trust them. All of the reviewers here are NOT lying. I have used this company twice before, at some risk, but it was fine both times. However, I made an appointment for them to come this year. I made the appointment about 2 weeks before they had an opening, then on the day before the cleaning, they called to reschedule me for the following week, which would have been today. I had a window of time between 8 am and noon. I called at 3 pm to see what was happening, as I had received a text message that they were behind schedule. Then, when I called, they said they needed to reschedule me again. NO regard for the fact that I took a day of work to be here, NO regard for the fact that I have plans and house guests arriving today, which I told them when they rescheduled with me last week for today. They didn't give a S$!^! DO NOT USE this company. As it turns out, I called another certified person who, along with two others, confirmed that I dodged a bullet. This company is unprofessional and very shady! By the way, they charge $75 to sweep the chimney to entice you, then they reschedule with you over and over again until they have a chimney to sweep in your neighborhood. Awful experience with Shamrock on our chimney install in Grafton NH... We hired them to install a new wood stove thru-roof chimney at our camp in Grafton, NH - should have been an easy job, new construction, no interior finish, brand new stove and insulated metal chimney system. Upon install through the metal roof they scratch up the finish square ceiling support which I let slide and then generally just made a mess of things (also let slide). Within a few weeks of the install we started to notice leaking but when we called them they said it was condensation because the space isn't always heated (summer camp with part time winter use), so we just kept an eye on it. We continued to watch through the summer as the leak continued and we finally got them back out to look at it. When they looked at it they agreed it was a leak but they told us it wasn't installed right and required re-install AND additional flashing to prevent leaking and they were going to charge us full price for the reinstall of the chimney and flashing. I might consider paying for the extra flashing, but I should not be charged for them to fix their faulty work. I expressed my frustration, but they didn't budge and refused to work with us. This is the worst company I have ever worked with. They scheduled me 5 different days and I took off work and waited and they did not communicate that their tech would be late, or that he had to cancel. They did not seem to care at all for the massive inconvenience, and never treated me like a priority after several screwups on their part. When the "tech" finally came he was 3 hours late on the 5th day, and didn't remove the face of the fireplace to clean at all, pushed soot down the chimney onto the baffle, which wasn't cleaned either. When I lit my first fire, my living room filled with smoke and all the alarms went off causing a fire hazard in my home. When I called them to report the shoddy work they didn't care, and lied to me about the "tech" being on another job. Around 4 pm I found out that he wasn't even working that day, it was his day off and he didn't care at all. I called and spoke to a "manager" and that guy didn't care either. TL;DR: Shamrock C&C broke my chimney damper handle, probably tried to scam me to the tune of $600, and then jerked me around for a month when I asked them to replace the part they broke. I will never hire them again, and you shouldn't either. I hired Shamrock C&C for a routine chimney sweep/inspect. They cleaned my chimney, told me my vestal damper was warped beyond repair, then quoted me $600 to install a new damper at the top of the chimney. In the process of all this, they also broke the operating handle for my vestal damper. I didn't pursue that issue immediately, because they had informed me my damper needed replacement anyway. About a month later while I was examining competitor's quotes and generally researching the topic, I "fixed" the damper myself by shifting it one inch to the left on its hinge. It was never damaged. I contacted Shamrock C&C to ask them to replace the damper handle they broke. I should have dismissed them and trusted my instinct when the crew was dodgy about where they drove in from and where they were going next. Shamrock no-showed, no-called twice over a month to come back and inspect their leaking work, plus other message dodging. It took five phone numbers to connect to someone at Angi/HomeAdvisor who said they could mediate with Shamrock. The contractor didn't respond for another month and then began blowing up my phone to say, "Angi works for us. We pay them. They can't help you." The mediator proved the terrible contractor accurate, and I spent more time talking with Angi/HomeAdvisor over the next six months than being helped. We hired Shamrock Chimney in the Manchester New Hampshire area in June 2025. We paid $3000 deposit for supplies. We were happy when no other chimney company in our area had time for months but Shamrock could rebuild it in 2 weeks. We now know why, anyone who knows them will not hire them. work was awful ! After they finished they demanded the $15,000 balance before they would leave. we said we didn't want to pay until the fire inspector inspected it. the pushed so hard we ended up giving them a post dated check so we would have time to have it inspected. a few days later the fire inspector came and found a hole in the sealant in the basement and failed it. They sent 2 different men out to fix it. We were having our roof done at the same time and when the took the roofing off found that the chimney was build very shotty and failed another inspection. The original workment finally came out and rebuilt it . In the mean time we tryed to put a shop payment on the check and found out their bank cashed it 3 days before it was dated for. after they rebuilt the top half again the flashing was done horribly and the roofers said if we left it the way they did it, we would have chimney and roof problems. We had the roofer fix their mess and sent the $750. invoice to Shamrock, it's now late August and have never gotten this money reimbursed. we tell every one we talk to NEVER HIRE SHAMROCK! When filing a complaint with The Better Business Bureau we found out they had 54 complaints in the the last 2 years and 52 of them the dept of justice took over to process. Shamrock is a sham. They had originally posed as a family business located in Washington, NH, via a 3rd party website. Not true. They are headquartered out of state with temp workers all over multiple states with no oversight nor accountability. They were scheduled to come on Tuesday between 10am and 1pm to clean and inspect the chimney. No show. When I called Mary, the scheduler, she said to keep waiting, they were running late because of rain. End of day, complete no show. I expressed some irritation and rescheduled to Thursday, between 11 and 2. When they still hadn't come, I called and asked her to tell me where I was on the schedule, was I the next customer? She became belligerent, telling me "the dispatcher is located somewhere else" and "she can't call the guys on the roof, it would be unsafe", "she is doing the best she can, calling customers and letting them know!". Letting us know what, exactly??! Kyle and his partner (whose name I don't know, he spent most of his time in the van) finally showed up after 3, looked at the chimney on the roof and took pictures, looked at the fireplace inside the house, and below. THEY DID NOT CLEAN THE CHIMNEY. Instead, Kyle wrote up a quote for $2100 to repair the bricks and mortar which needed tuckpointing, hammer down the existing flashing, use black tar and silicone, and at the end apply a waterproof sealant, and clean the chimney. He said if I paid a refundable $100 deposit they could return the next morning at 8am to do all the work, which he estimated would take the two of them 5 hours. At 7:30am the rain was pounding down outside. I assumed they wouldn't come. But there they were, on a ladder heading up to the roof! I'm not a mason but this didn't seem possible. It took me about 15 mins to get dressed for the weather and go out there and ask them to come down with their tools. They skedaddled down immediately. I think this was familiar to them. Kyle quickly became argumentative, claiming they were "setting up tents". I asked to see the tents. Kyle said they were "in the van". Yet he never opened the back to get them or show them to me. Of course they were not on the roof, either. He was quietly instructing his partner to get the ladder so they could leave. I called another company (given to me last night by a neighbor when I had an uneasy feeling about Shamrock) who confirmed that mortar could not be applied in the rain, even with tents (if they even had those) and definitely not if the existing surface was already wet, which it certainly was! Scheduled an appointment with this company to get a quote for a client of mine. The employee on the phone told me she could have someone at the subject property between 10-1, and that they would give me a half hour notice before someone showed up. I asked if there was any way we could narrow down the time a bit more than that. She said they couldn't, so I said okay and then proceeded to plan my day around this appointment... This subject property is an hour away from my house and 30 minutes away from any cell service, so I planned accordingly... The morning of the appointment, I leave my house at 9 AM so that I can get to a Cumberland Farms for 9:30 so that I can sit and wait for an unknown period of time for a call or a text from this company. From 9:30 until 12:55 I sat in that Cumberland Farms parking lot waiting to hear from them. At 12:55 I got a call that they were not going to make it out today, but they could probably make it out between 10-1 tomorrow. I called the company back after to air my grievance and they told me that this was the service industry and they don't see anything wrong with doing business this way. We recently had some issues with our chimney. We had multiple companies come out and quote and decided we would move forward with the people we met with from Shamrock. The original team was very nice and consultative. Today they sent a new crew to do the work. Chris from their team flat out told my husband and I that he was the only person at the company that knew what he was doing and the original quote was wrong and that shamrock mostly just hires"seasonal workers who don't know what they are doing" he was upselling us over $3000 of additional work including flashing work which we repeatedly told him was being replaced with the new roof we were putting on next week. We ended up having to tell him to leave without doing any work as we were not comfortable moving forward with a company whose employees so vocally think the company they worked for doesn't hire competent employees and if the two crews who came out had such drastic difference in the work that needed to be done. I had chimney work done by one of Shamrock's contractors on Cape Cod. The work needed was simple: I wanted to have my chimney's flashing resealed. I wasn't there to watch the work being performed. (It is a vacation home.) When I did see the work in person, I was extremely disappointed. The work looks like a total hack job. There was way too much sealant used. (Needed a quart, used a gallon) The guy also apparently did not use the proper tools for smoothing and leveling the surface of the sealant. The surface is rough and full of groves and ridges.
