This place has a great selection of wine and beer. My issues is the cigar humidor inside the beer and soda part of their business. It's too warm and not humid enough. Nothing worse than paying top dollar for a cigar that is dry and starts to shred and crumble. I have been in there four times for cigars when I had a long car ride. I light them up as soon as I get outside and they just start falling apart! Not going back there ever again. I'll drive over to New Paltz to the beer distributor on Main St where they are kept fresh and cool. read more

Apart from the name, I like just about all of this place. It's new - located right off the highway. They are lit up like a UFO. They have a lot of beer, booze, whiskey, rum, cans by the crate, barrels, they have drinks and all the stirrers, umbrellas, cups, shakers, shot glasses, straws, and much more. A few drawbacks: there's only one employee for a gigantically laid out booze warehouse. The other odd aspect is that they do not sell much, just say single beer cans that are good for a one-time drink or a pick-me-up. They practically only have 6-12 packs and up! Seriously. I don't want to have to drink the same booze for a week and a half. They are not really thinking about the customers - more about their bottom line, and that bumps your shop down. We were staying in the area for the weekend and noticed the size of Shamrock Wine and Liquor. When I travel to different locations, I like to browse the Scotch, Bourbon & Whiskey aisles as well as regional wines. I'm hoping on day to come across an store that doesn't know about Pappy Van Winkle and has a few bottles just waiting for me. Be still my heart.. Shamrock Wine and Liquor did have a nice Scotch selection. I came to look at their regional wines, I was able to snag two from the fingerlakes region. I want to preface this review by saying I am an industry worker. I understand how hard it is. But this behavior I experienced on the beer side (not liquor) of the shamrock franchise was absurd and beyond rude. Today I went in to see if maybe I could return a 12 pack of beer I had bought because I had bought two the previous day and the first one wasn't good. My literal words to the Man behind the counter were "Hi. I wanted to see if I could exchange this for a regular 12 pack instead of this flavor. But honestly no big deal if you can't, just thought I'd ask" With no response and a look of sheer anger he called over another employee. This employee spoke to me as if I was being argumentative when I just had an Inquery. She was short in her responses and extremely demeaning. I repeated to her that it wasn't a big deal if I couldn't exchange it. Then some teenager in literal pajama pants who worked there snidely stated to me that it was a state law that I couldn't exchange it. I'm not sure how I was supposed to know this as a patron? The one employee did try to place a Call to ask the manager but was beyond enraged to do so. I immediately backed down to all three as i was being ganged up on and just conceded because like I said...it wasn't a big deal...after I left the store a gentleman even asked if I was ok after being behind me in line because it was that aggressive. Honestly this place has great selection and prices and I've been their patron since they opened but I won't be going back based on not just their treatment but their aggressive behavior to their customers. read more

if you want to overpay for whiskey then this is the place for you! $200 for knob creek 12,$60 for buffalo trace,$1300 for stagg, its a $200 bottle at best.makers mark 46 cask strength $90..most places its $65...their mark ups are ridiculous..they should be ashamed of themselves.some of the lower priced bottles are close to most others but cask strength stuff or single barrels better go elsewhere unless you wan to get ripped off!!!!!!!! read more

I stopped at shamrock liquors today in route to a family members house in upstate New York. I tend to stop at the liquor stores in this area because every once in a while I can find things I don't normally find at my location. What upsets me recently is that liquor stores in this area of New York have decided to mark up allocated Bourbons and charge almost up to three or four times the amount of the suggested manufactures price. Granted there is a bourbon boom and retailers are taking advantage and marking up bottles. But there is a huge distinction between marking up a bottle $10-$20 as opposed to robbing customers blind just because the secondary market prices are what they are. Of course it makes sense for a business to raise prices to maximize its profits but it doesn't make good business practice when you try to rob your customers and take advantage. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about: *Elmer T Lee- MSRP is $35.99. They are selling it for $149.99 *Elijah Craig barrel proof - MSRP is $59.99. They are selling it for $150.99 * W.L. Weller Old Antique - MSRP is $39.99. They are selling it for $99.99. Businesses like this try to jack up the prices under the guise that these bottles are rare. Well that's a falsehood. These bottles are released quarterly and the inventory is allocated. Granted that makes it hard to fine but it's not impossible. Obviously as a consumer I have the right to just walk out the store which is exactly what I did. But this is truly despicable and is ruining the bourbon market. Needless to say I will never ever ever purchase anything from this business in light of what it's doing to its customers. Do yourself a favor and show your loyalty to a business that shows there loyalty to its customers and demonstrates ethical business practices. read more

One of the worst costumer service (liquor side)! The girl at the registra was very disrespectful. We were part of the larger group and tried to buy alcohol and realized that i left my ID at home. So i was waiting my friend to buy alcohol and she said i am NOT allowed in the store and forced me to leave because i forgot my ID (and we are all well over 30 and parents and don't look like teenagers for sure (i wish i did!). She was purposefully rude just because she could. It was convenient for us to buy alcohol there otherwise i'll avoid this store in the future! read more

So we live in Poughkeepsie but being that all liquor stores close at 7pm we came to this place and I must say we will be coming back! The staff was very helpful helping me pick out a wine that I would like. They recommended a wine called "the prospector 49er blend" and it was very good might just be my new go to red wine! I recommend the wine if you like dry smooth wine! Also they helped my boyfriend pick out a good bourbon which he also is enjoying! Overall they have a good selection of wine and liquors and also a fine wine freezer in the back! read more
