I initially met Shane because he shot some promotional photos for a pole dance show that I was performing in. I immediately noticed that he has a gift for capturing moments in motion. Pole dance is very vulnerable and I felt completely at ease and comfortable with him behind the camera for the brief time that we met. He was the consummate professional around all these women/femme dancers and I could tell that he took his job seriously. When I began looking for photographers for my wedding in March 2020, I reached out to him and he immediately provided a few different, very reasonable pricing options. (I know a lot of folks read these reviews to find out more about pricing and based on the research I did, I think he's more reasonable than most wedding photographers out there.) He's very quick to respond to communications and is super friendly. Our wedding was set to be in Santa Barbara, and he was so reasonable about travel fees, second shooting, etc. I had so many questions and he was happy to meet in person to discuss in greater detail. We decided we wanted to book him and he provided a straightforward contract with flexible payment options. We later decided we also wanted to do engagement photos and he was great about helping us find a location and time. We felt at ease shooting with him and had a blast getting to know him more. In general we liked the way the photos turned out because he captured some candid moments, like when we were along the water at the beach and realized just how cold it was. We had to postpone our wedding multiple times because of COVID and he was so accommodating about the date changes. We decided to have a micro wedding on our original date and he photographed for us for a few hours at a very reasonable price as well. He got some great photos of not just my spouse and I, but also of our friends who hosted us at their house with our family. After each of our shoots, he was quick to upload photos for us to download, and he has some great printing options via SmugMug (where he hosts photos). We were able to order some prints for our friends and they absolutely love the quality. That all said, we decided we wanted to go in another direction with our wedding photography after postponing so many times; when we reached out, Shane was very gracious about it and we worked something out together. It's clear that he truly cares about creating a strong relationship regardless of the outcome. Overall, Shane runs his business with integrity and professionalism, while maintaining a deeply personal touch. Can't say enough great things about our experiences with him. My outdoor aerial session with Shane was straight out of a movie set! The professionalism in every single detail was 5 star. Just impecable. We shared with him our theme (apocalyptic) and he came up with a location that looks like we easily spent thousands for it. Not only that but he understands shooting aerialist and dancers very well. My wife and I have done a few family photo shoots with a variety of photographers over the years. We've steadily been gaining children (up to 2 now), which I expected to make these shoots more, ah... interesting! But I have to say, the photo shoot we did with Shane at Huntington Gardens was the funnest family photo shoot we've ever had! Shane was a calm, relaxing, positive presence. He guided us through the Gardens, helping us spot places to park the stroller, and explained how he was going to use the light in each area of the Gardens. He was attentive to the things we wanted to capture in the photos, in one case seeking out trees that were changing color because we wanted to capture an Autumn feeling. He worked efficiently, and we never felt rushed. Throughout all of this, he kept his eyes open for golden moments, like our daughter smelling a flower, or my son biting my hand and making me yell in pain. Not very pleasant at the time, but hilarious to see in retrospect. :) Oh, and the photos came out amazing, of course, with beautiful composition and gorgeous lighting. Shane's a true professional. Shane is AMAZING!!!! I can't tell you how wonderful he was to work with. This is my second time working with him. First was a birthday party and he did a great job so we booked him for our elopement! He's very personable and he makes you feel very comfortable. You feel like a family friend is the one taking the photos! He's also very excited about whatever project he works on which made my wedding plans turn elopement, that much more exciting. Also, he wore a mask the whole time for anyone looking for a photographer during this pandemic. His photo quality is AMAZING. I felt so beautiful in my wedding dress and the photos are going to be something I can look back on years and years from now and just gush over them. I also have to comment on his pricing since I know a lot of people read reviews for that purpose. I thought it was extremely fair and reasonable. I can't attest for anything more than about 3-4 hours of work but it was thousands less than what some photographers I know were charging for my other friends who eloped. I hired Shane to take my family Christmas pictures because of all the positive reviews I read about him. My family and I got to experience for ourselves what a professional and amazing photographer he is! My husband and I immediately felt comfortable with him as he is very personable and down-to-earth! I had met Shane at an event that I often attend and he often shoots for. I had seen him in action and had seen his dedidication first hand. Hiring Shane was the second best decision I made for my wedding, right after my choice of groom! The pictures are amazing. My husband and I wanted a mix of a few posed, artistic gorgeous portraits and a LOT of candids capturing me, my husband and our guests throughout the event. And wow did Shane deliver that and more. The pictures are stunning: he captured those tiny little moments of the day that you'd forget otherwise, and the photos perfectly caught everyone's emotions and personalities. It's like falling through a time portal back to the day: I can look at his photos and remember EXACTLY how I felt in the moment. My only "complaint" is that he gave us so many gorgeous photos that we're going to have to rent a bigger apartment to display one-tenth of our favorite shots. My biggest wedding fear was that I'd be so worried about not remembering the day (everyone says it flies past!) that I would be too distracted to enjoy the party. I knew that wouldn't be a problem when Shane started working. He was EVERYWHERE. Every time something cool happened and I thought, "Man, I wish I could remember that forever," I'd look up and there was Shane, checking the flurry of shots he'd just taken. It was so reassuring to know that Shane was on the case and I never had to interrupt my enjoyment of the day to try to get selfies or ask him to photograph a certain moment. I knew at the time he was getting awesome photos of everything I'd want to remember (and a bunch of stuff I didn't even see!) and the photos show I was right. Also, for any brides/grooms who are reading reviews and stressing about photography, a few things I cared about that you might care about too: Shane is super friendly and reliable, and was quick to help me work through any "bride brain" stress moments I had during planning; he worked with our (modest) budget and provided great advice about how we could schedule things to help him work; he spent time with our wedding planner and venue coordinator before the ceremony arranging great lighting (and actually came up with some cool lighting and furniture tweaks mid-party to add variety to our space and photos!); he was everywhere but also very unobtrusive, and melded seamlessly into the event (no huge light set-ups or camera flashes). And his photos are very flattering: his shot composition and suggested poses during portraits were just totally on-point. I'm plus size and was a little worried about being dissatisfied with my body in photos, but he made me look as beautiful as I felt. A small note, but since most photography portfolios (in LA especially) are filled with folks who look like bridal models, I'm here to say: Shane has a real gift for capturing you, yourself and your guests in photos even more beautiful than your memories. read more

Amazing Photog Skills! I had a short shoot with Shane during the dress rehearsal for an upcoming show. Shane basically shot photos while I ran my pole dance routine. Usually when I do photo shoots I go blue in the face holding poses and trying to get perfect angles. But Shane has a magic finger and is able to grab the money shot while I'm in motion. While I was running my routine I was secretly thinking that there is no way he is going to be able to get the right shot unless I slow down my routine and hold poses. Then I saw some of the shots on Shane's camera and boy was I wrong. He was able to grab so many amazing shots without me having to think or pose much at all. I am so pleased with the results and I've been receiving tons of compliments on the photos Shane took. Every other pole dancer I know who has shot with Shane sings the same praise as well.
