Then in 2022 we were blessed with our "bonus" baby. With a degree of reluctance, we opted to enroll her in the same daycare our three oldest children attended. This decision came with a touch of hesitation, considering the significant changes that have taken place at the small, intimate center we once knew and adored. That center did not seem to know the direction it wanted to take and there was some toxicity with one of the owners. (Never once was I concerned about the care she received in the rooms by the staff.) During the year she was there, the boundaries with one of the owners felt chaotic and unpredictable. It was time to cut ties with a center we had been at over 10 years and began looking for a new daycare for our daughter to attend. We were fortunate that Goddard-Lakeville had availability for our daughter to attend. The very first thing we noticed was the level of safety/security at the center. There is no entering the building unless you are welcomed in by a staff member. I have seen grandparents needing to show their ID's prior to being allowed in the building. In today's day, the level of security is incredibly comforting. The second most prominent feature is the teachers' level of involvement. Right from the tour, we observed how the teachers were fully engaged with the children, not lingering on the sidelines with their phones or engaged in conversations amongst themselves. Thirdly, the communication is outstanding. There's no ambiguity regarding the center's operations - it's clear, concise, and consistent. The policies are fair- they do not change based on the most recent parent's complaint. The extent of our daughter's learning journey is astounding. We're immensely thankful for the age-appropriate curriculum. As advocates of education and evidence-based approaches, Goddard truly stands out as exceptional! Finally, the teachers are fantastic! They genuinely invest in the well-being of the children under their guidance. They understand my daughter as a unique individual and cater to her specific needs. Based on our experience with two prominent daycares in the Lakeville area, I wholeheartedly endorse Goddard-Lakeville. The owners cultivate a community that balances professionalism and healthy boundaries while providing a nurturing environment for children to flourish. The teachers are top notch! No one knew he was coming, his name, or where he was supposed to go. When picking my son up, the teacher always gave me a laundry list of her annoyances (he asks to go potty too much, he cried a lot, he talks too much, he doesn't nap) which you would have known a lot about my son had you reviewed the paperwork I had to fill out before he started. The very last day my son went here, at drop off I saw one of the morning staff being really rough, rude, and unkind to a little girl who was playing in the sink. I messaged the director about it, apparently, they did not care and I was never contacted about it. That day, I picked up my son and there was a hand mark on his arm. Every day I went to pick him up he quite literally ran out of there. One day he came home with a bruise under his lip and his eyes were swollen and nobody said a word. My husband called and they said he had been bawling ALL DAY!!! No one even let us know. It took two weeks for the swelling on his eyes to go down and the bruising on his lip to go away. After checking the DHS licensing website and seeing what kind of violations this place has had over the years, I am happy to say we have found a much better place/program for my 2 year old to go that does not include screen time babysitting my kid. Even though my oldest doesn't go there anymore, he looks forward to coming with to drop his brother off because the younger kids remember him and the teachers always say hi and ask him how school is going. They enjoy going to the splash pad in the summertime and fun field trips like to Target Field and the MN Zoo. Lots of learning activities and crafts. It was one of the cheaper centers when I was pregnant with my first (8 years ago) which was a big reason why we went with them. Wanted a center but not pay a mortgage payment for it. My 4 almost 5 year old still goes there (since he was 12 weeks old). You get what you pay for. I've read some bad reviews which confuses me. My kids are pretty good so maybe that's why I haven't had many issues? I'm an easy going parent though so as long as my kids are being treated right, I'm happy!
