Seeing the "ghost walk" advertisements about town, I figured it would be a great thing to do seeing as the place had to be crawling with ghosts of dead smugglers. The beginning of the trip should have been my first clue this was going to be a waste of time/money. The guy was late, and there were only about 4 people milling around, none of us really sure we were in the right place. A guy in a leather coat showed up, but didn't really acknowledge who he was or eased our minds we where we were supposed to be. He turned out to be the guide. Well, we were where we were supposed to be and got the tour underway almost on time. The first half was fun. Apparently our guide has been on TV loads, but I have no idea who the guy was. Hearing about a smuggler's incident and the subsequent statues depicting the event atop the pubs involved was amusing and probably the highlight of the excursion. Somewhere around the cemetery things got weird. I tried to instill a sense of fear in me throughout the trip so I could leave it with the exhiliration of being scared, but when your ghost tour guide amends each story with something like "But it's probably not true, this is just what people have said," it's hard to be scared. I wouldn't go on this tour again and I wouldn't really recommend it, but if you've got nothing else to do while in Penzance and want to have a 5 quid leisurely stroll around town, go for it.

The grounds are very beautiful and the peacocks add to this experience. It is not easy to find this beautiful castle, but it is worth the effort. Both my husband and myself are looking forward to our next stay at this lovely castle with Sammie and her mom.

Beautiful historical guest house with comfortable rooms, delicious food, set in the middle of a…read morewonderful estate. The house is still furnished with its original pieces and the guests can enjoy relaxed afternoons in its living rooms. The food is superb. Active guests can enjoy pleasant walks along the various paths in the property. Peacocks, deers, cattle and hares populate the fields around the house. And runners - especially those coming from London - will enjoy some good routes on the hills and the forest and will get a chance of breathing some clean air!
