Agent sold life policy, redeemable in 15 years for $40,000. Got instructions on how to…read morecancel/redeem policy & was again told value of policy was $40,000 and once cancel letter with specific info, the policy cancelled, would be issued check shortly thereafter. Today received another 2 letters from Foresters, called to make sure had received cancel letter, which they had, but was told would only get a portion of the "monthly premium" NOT the $40,000 I paid into for 15 years, was told policy was worth by agent and rep from foresters as well on May 10, 2023. The Certificate Data Page says Insurance Class - Standard, Rating Class - Standard and in the section under When this certificate is in effect; "This certificate ends on the earliest of the following dates: the expiry date, the date of death of the insured, the day we receive signed request to end this certificate, the day this certificate lapses . . . ! NO Where in this policy does it say that this policy is not redeemable for full cash value at the end of the policy period. I purchased this policy in Clarksville, TN from William McMurry, understood that at the end of the policy period it would be worth $40,000 and I could extend at a higher premium or get those funds; which was confirmed by Allie at Foresters on May 10, 2023. The letter per Allie's instructions was mail and confirmed by Nea it had been received, when I asked her how long til the check would be issued, because I needed the funds for home repair and as a senior widow hoped it wouldn't be long; she told me would be sent in a few days, she had to figure how much to send!!!!! WOW!!! Just got a shock - their agent sold the policy for $40,000 redeemable in 15 years, their employee confirmed that on May 10, 2023, stamped on policy application received 6/27/2008 and signed by Executive Sec & President on 7/17/2008 and received by me in Aug. 2008 (which is when they got their 2nd payment) Isn't it strange how a company can sell you things, use your money for 15 years, earn interest on that money but not have to pay you what you not once, but twice were told the policy was worth - once in 2008 and once in 2023. Guess that president and the "upper management" need a little more pocket change for their vacation - they are not concerned about the people who struggle for years to make those payments because they THINK (have been told) they will receive the full amount IF the policy is paid as in the contract and you don't die before then!!! Just another money grabbing company that calls itself a "financial" company - should be called the Great Bilk the seniors financial company. But they are allowed to get away with it!!!! (FYI- the policy states it may be cancelled within 10 days of you receiving it from them!!! - why would you do that if you bought the policy for 1. life insurance; 2. be able to get the cash in senior years if still alive! Especially since they made sure you didn't have a policy to refer to - not even a copy of the application until well after those 10 days) DO NOT PURCHASE INSURANCE FROM THIS COMPANY UNLESS YOU GET A NOTARIZED AFFIDAVIT THAT THEY WILL PAY THE FULL POLICY AMOUNT, WHEN THE POLICY HAS BEEN PAID FOR AND REDEEMABLE AT THE FULL TIME ON SAID POLICY !!!!!!!!
