Otherwise no issues and the nurse staff are all friend and caring. I've had no issues with getting my IV inserted. They will usually put it in your hand which I like so you can move your arm freely. When you wake up from a procedure they will give you either graham crackers or Lorna Doone shortbread cookies and apple juice or water, your choice.

She is so much more friendly and really takes the time to explain procedures and treatments. I actually look forward to our appointments- she's just a breath of fresh air compared to most doctors. Most importantly, her treatments WORK! I won't get into the details of what I was there for, but after years of simple prescriptions from other doctors without results, she was able to fix everything in just three visits. I also never had any of the appointment issues that others had- if I had a 3:45 appointment, I showed up at 3:40 and was called by 3:45. I very much recommend this office and more specifically, this doctor.

They kicked her out way too early, without finding out what the source of infection was. Long story short, she was admitted three times in 2 weeks because they kept letting her go too soon- despite our protests. Many things were overlooked and dismissed. During her 3rd stay, she was in the Telemetry unit and was going into Septic Shock. I recognized the symptoms and immediately asked for a doctor. A nurse practitioner was covering and NEVER responded over a period of 2-3 hours! I was persistent and was finally able to have her see the hospitalist, Dr. Taha, who, in my opinion, saved her life. He was great. If we had him from the start, all of this would not have happened. The "so called" Social Worker Jemma, was pushy and arrogant each time, not even caring about my sister or what she went through. It was all about the money with her! A few of the nurses were excellent- Erin on the 4th floor, and Denise, Rasha, Jayda, and Anthony in the Telemetry unit on the 3rd floor. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Your chances of being treated right and surviving the illness would be better.

Little can be done to make the preparation and actual event more palatable, but at least it can be simplified and made more humane with understanding of the emotional aspects of the test, and the physical challenges associated with drinking copious amounts of vile tasting fluids, a mandatory clear liquid diet for 36 hours before the operation, and the totally unpleasant process of emptying the lower gastrointestinal tract. Ugh! Gastroenterology Group at St. Mary Medical Center does it as well as possible. They invite you to their office weeks in advance to review the process in detail. Many pages of easy to understand instructions are provided. They record insurance information, and even offer samples of the preparation meds if the patient lacks coverage for this cost. On the designated day, when the effect of starvation and voiding is at max effect, their staff is courteous and compassionate in getting the patient ready for general anesthesia and the procedure itself. Everyone was skilled, patient and trained in low key interaction. From getting into those damn surgical gowns, to setting the intravenous lines in the arm, to nestling the pillow comfortably under the head/neck as you fall asleep, to the gentle wake up back in your personal space with juice and crackers, the flow is smooth and relaxed. That Dr. Barash advised I would likely have to return in five years for another scope almost seemed an afterthought.

I called in February to book an appointment, with having concerning symptoms and could not get in until August. The woman who answered the phone was rude, curt, and dismissive. I very calmly said that I was an existing patient and am experiencing some concerns and if there was any possibility to get in sooner, I would appreciate it. She didn't ask what the concerns were, she simply and rudely said that was my only option. Even eluding that if I didn't like that, I could go somewhere else!!! So here I wait...... never calling back to see if an opening became available because honestly I was so put off by the first call I didn't think I'd get anywhere. July 20 comes and I receive a call that the Dr. won't be available on the scheduled date anymore and that I need to reschedule. I work, I have a teenage child at home during the summer, with lots of appointments and my own appointments to work around. We figure out a date where I will have to juggle some other appointments around to accommodate the new appointment. July 27. Great! It's sooner! I check in at 9:00am for a 9:30am appointment. Get called back to the room at 9:40. I'm still sitting there at 10:30, never seen, no one has come in. I step out to express my thoughts that this is getting ridiculous and that I have another appointment to go to. No one cares. "She'll be right in". 10:45, nothing. So I again step out and say that I have to go and this was very unacceptable. That not just the doctors time is is important but so is mine. The only reason I came here was to follow Dr. Harry Manser who had his Florence practice purchased…read moreand was told to leave. He had since moved to the hospital in a special role and Dr. James Bancroft took his place. He's been great. Very much like the Dr.s I'd remembered from growing up. Takes the time to listen and prefers holistic approaches as opposed to only prescribing medicine. He's had great referrals to other specialists. They also have a very quick turnaround time on blood work. Lauren has done a great job drawing blood from my "hard to find" veins. This is a small office and the staff is friendly and helpful. They take most insurance plans.
