Maybe I don't get out enough but I've not seen the like of a couple of the starters they have here. The Chiang mai sausage is a beauty. It's one of the more interesting Thai starters I've ever had and the heat stayed with me for a while after the dish had been demolished. By contrast, the crispy fried tofu cake wasn't anywhere near as satisfying. The tofu had nothing to really lift it. The accompanying taro cake was nice and maybe helped a little. But, there was nothing else and as far as I could tell and the sweet chilli sauce promised on the menu wasn't evident. Again, I've not had anything like the fresh spring roll which is, um, fresh not fried. Interesting flavour and texture here. We liked it the dish. On to the mains then. The Thai Thani green curry was good. The sauce is thinnish not thick and creamy as it can be sometimes. We liked it. The texture of the winter bamboo particularly sparked my interest in this dish which had good kick throughout. The Pad Thai here is a good one as well. A large serving with good flavour. We also liked that the noodles were thinner than usual. The Salmon Choo Chee curry is lovely too. We've not seen this in s Thai place before. Alternatively, if it has to be Thai, then I'd recommend travelling that little bit further to Ying Thai 2 on Lygon street.

Then she went off and had a little rant to the other waitress in Mandarin (which I spoke, but I guess she didn't think I did) and said , and I quote: "That bitch said she wanted tea and when I brought it out she said no." Thank goodness I had already received my food otherwise I would be highly suspicious of spit on my dumplings. When the couple next to us ordered, I overheard the man ask the waitress if there were any nuts in a particular dish (I assume he was allergic to nuts). She looked so confused and didn't understand what the hell he was talking about. I wanted to be a good samaritan so I said "nuts" in Mandarin. No, it wasn't as if she didn't understand the word, she just didn't know about the nuts. Nut allergies are pretty common, so she could've been a bit more sympathetic. Aiyah... Food: Not terrible, but the quality has definitely dropped. My dumplings were a bit burnt and soggy. Thankfully, there was still juice inside that made up for it somewhat - but not the best dumplings I've had at all. My partner and I left with a newfound distaste for Dumplings Plus and the awful staff it hires. And thus ends my very last trip to that establishment.

When the food finally arrived, it was luke warm at best. We received no empathetic apologies for the delay from the owner or the wait staff. The service was completely unacceptable. Lower your expectations, and plan to be crunching on shell in everything, even the other dishes that you didn't think should come out with lobster in them at all. Sometimes overcooked, sometimes under seasoned, the most expensive item on their menu is the least consistent and worst served. The atmosphere is 1980s casino: cheap chairs with white tablecloths and disinterested table service. The restaurant is consistently crowded and loud, so clearly someone likes this place, but it is never somewhere I would choose to go myself.
