Don't bother making an appointment with this place. I made an appointment with a particular stylist for a boys first haircut. An hour before the appointment I got a reminder for my appointment and it said it was with someone completely different and a different service. Rather than calling and asking if that was ok, they just changed it. I called and asked why and they said that she had "gone home for the day". Every child needs their first bad haircut, and I guess was ours. The hairstylist had no idea what she was doing. I appreciate her getting us in last minute but the haircuts was beyond awful. There was patches missing as well as she gave my son bangs when we specifically requested to leave it longer with a small trim. I will say, she was quick but not sure if that's a good thing. I don't like leaving bad reviews AT ALL, but we received the worst haircuts from this place. My daughter's hair is about an inch longer on one side, and there are lots of hairs that didn't get cut. The front section is much longer than the back section. I have never seen anything like this. It looked fine walking out because I couldn't really tell how crooked it was because she braided the front section, but then once we got home I brushed it and could instantly see it. My son's haircut started out pretty bad because the clippers being used on him were pulling his hair out because they weren't sharp. (And they were probably not cleaned well) His skin instantly turned red and he was shaking it hurt him so much, and the lady cutting his hair finally got a different pair of clippers after I said something (after trying to tell me that it couldn't be hurting him because of the guard). Those clippers didn't hurt. My son does have some sensory issues, but after so many haircuts, I have never seen his skin turn red from clippers, and it certainly hasn't ever been painful for him. When I told my husband about it, he was like "oh yeah if they aren't cleaned or if they aren't sharp, they will pull on the hair. She went and cut another little boy's hair after and he was also screaming, but since he wasn't even 2, he couldn't tell them it was hurting, so I'm sure they assumed he was just scared. After getting home and looking at his hair closer, the line she cut on his neck is slanted. I am SO disappointed that we paid nearly $60 (including tip) for these cuts, and they look like this. As someone who worked in the salon/spa business for 13 years before staying at home with my kids, I would normally call and ask them to fix this. But it is nearly 40 minutes from my house, and we leave for vacation tomorrow. So my husband will try to fix the line on my son's neck, and I am going to try to straighten my daughter's hair out, or she will just be wearing a pony tail until we can get it fixed later this month. **Oh! Also, the address on Yelp is not correct. It is 15 minutes from this address (on the other side of 45 near party city. There is NO SIGN on the building for Sharkey's.) I am bummed there aren't more places to take my kids for a haircut here. Guess they will just have to go to a regular salon and barber shop. read more

Why 5 stars? Because it's hard to imagine taking our son anywhere else. --- --- --- Our two year old, like most two year olds, does not enjoy getting his haircut. So if you're going to take him somewhere, it better be a place where there are fun things like cars for seats and TVs with unlimited cartoons on them. And most importantly, a post-cut balloon on stand by. We just moved to the area from Tampa, where we had a Sharkeys that was practically walking distance from our house. While this Sharkeys is a few miles away, I think it will be our to-go until he can appreciate the finer things in life like a straight razor cleanup at a barber shop. This particular haircut was probably the one he disliked the most, for whatever reason. And the person who cut his hair (her name escapes me, unfortunately) dealt with our crazy toddler like a champ. His crying and rapid movements really did not phase her and his cut ended up looking great. He pretty much cried from the moment we put him in the chair until he was given the aforementioned balloon to celebrate the torture being over. We'll be back and hopefully, we've seen the worst of his outbursts during haircuts. read more

Every kid needs their iconic bad haircut! For some, it's a bowl cut...for others, it's bangs that match the ups and down of the stock market... Two stars, because they *squeezed us in* and fulfilled our spontaneous decision to cut my daughter's hair for the first time ever. However, I would have rather waited one hour and my child's haircut and bangs not been rushed. I also asked for two specific things, a straight even cut in the back and straight cut bangs. She INSISTED on "blending" and the result really is blended and chopped. And what's worse is she kept going higher and higher. Tomi takes amazing care of my daughter, and is so sweet with her! I scheduled an appointment before arriving, they were not busy when I walked in but go busy right after she started cutting my daughters hair! Tomi always check with me about length, cut, if I like it and if my daughter likes it, she also paints my daughters nails it's around $25 a visit. Wonderful experience! We just moved to the area and my son needed a haircut. I made an appointment online for 11:30 am. We arrived around 11:15 and they were able to start on us right away: they let him choose which car he wanted to sit in and what he wanted to watch on Netflix. Kayla cut his hair and it's adorable. We loved everything about Sharkey's! The look of the salon, the cleanliness, and the utmost care to my son. I'm not sure how to spell her name, but Ashlyn cut my son's very 1st haircut. She was quick but precise and his haircut came out so good! But most of all, we truly appreciated her willingness to see us rather late. Our appointment was at 5:30, and I did call ahead to say that we would be running late, hoping it would be no more than 10 minutes. We did not arrive until 5:50 (10 min till closing), and she was more than happy to still see my son. She did not care what time it was or that she would be working past 6 o'clock. We had a great experience getting my 21 month old his first haircut. The stylist was clearly very familiar with toddlers and helped him feel comfortable in a new sitaution. We just took our two year old here for a hair cut and the the woman who cut his hair was absolutely wonderful with him. She was patient, kind, and the hair cut was better than any other cut he's had so far. He was able to sit in a fire truck and watch tv and when that didn't work, she patiently switched him to another area to sit on his dad's lap for the rest of his cut. We will be coming back here to see her for all of his future haircuts! read more

Had an appointment for my son's first haircut here - we arrived 5-10 minutes early, checked in and sat down. They were busy, which is understandable, and we didn't mind waiting 5-10 minutes from our scheduled appointment. We waited patiently and weren't checked up on until about 20 minutes after our scheduled appointment. One stylist got finished with a family and told my wife that the other stylist would be helping us. She then went to the back with some other lady who didn't appear to have a child there and may have been a manager or someone else that worked there. Meanwhile, the stylist who was scheduled to help us was busy cutting an ADULT'S (I thought this was a place for kids to get their haircut??) hair. They clearly didn't value our time and so we left frustrated that we had waited 20 minutes over our scheduled time because the person who was going to help us was cutting an adults hair. read more

Great first time experience here with my 17m son's second haircut. Very pleasant experience for my son. He was mesmerized sitting in the fire truck while watching his favorite Netflix show that he barely noticed his hair being cut! Totally different than his first time at another kid's salon...he was wailing the entire time but, here at Sharkey's, all the bells & whistles are a necessity!! We had an appointment for Saturday morning and it was not too crowded. There's a police car, fire truck, and Lighting McQueen car and a Frozen jeep. Glad we brought him here! This place is great for "difficult" toddler haircuts. Everyone is always very patient with my son when I take him in for a haircut. They have TVs with Netflix for the little kids and Xbox for the older ones. They also have cars for tame kids to get their hair cut. The price structure is a little steep; however, it's well worth the money to perform the impossible task of nicely cutting the hair of a screaming/struggling 2 year old. read more

We will not be coming back here, after coming for nearly a year and just getting okay haircuts for my son (where he sat still the whole time and didn't cry...) On our last attempted visit, we were going to be a few minutes late, so I called and asked if that was okay. I was assured it was, and that they would take us as long as we would be within 10 minutes of our window (we were 5 minutes late). We were assured by the employee on the phone that it was okay and we should still come (we had already driven 25 minutes to get there) When we arrived, we were informed that they actually couldn't take us due to the stylist needing to go on lunch break. My son's haircuts usually take 10 minutes or less and I pointed this out, and they were still unwilling to break their apparently rigid schedule (contradicting what I was told on the phone). I offered to pay double cost to have my son fit in, and was still told no. Not worth it for the cost, mediocre haircuts, high price, and lousy service. It's tough to get places on time with a 2 year old and they were unwilling to accommodate, after telling me on the phone they could. They've officially lost us as a customer. Too bad because my son did like the shark theme, sitting in a car, watching cartoons, and getting a balloon afterwards. read more
