I went and got the library director because it got so bad and she said to me "The library is noisy you should have brought headphones." Seriously! The library isn't noisy your workers are! And nobody expects silence but we expect it to be relatively quiet so we can hear ourselves think. Nobody was making any noise but the workers at the front desk being obnoxiously loud. Then she told me "This isnt a college library." Lady I am 30 years old but thanks for the compliment.

But that day I need to have some papers downloaded from my phone from a lawyer to print off and I will leave my husband at the doctors so I went down there and waited a few minutes and I went in and they sent me upstairs. The second floor I leave the man's name was Tim. He was a wizard. Oh my goodness he was amazing. OK he helped me to get my phone to download it like something else's an IP or whatever I don't remember because I'm not very savvy, but he got into the phone to do that. He linked it to their printer. I went over and did the printing work he showed me how to program the things to take and print stuff that printed it a costing like $.90 four pages, but I didn't care because Iknew it had to be done that day. But he was very slow about it very understanding step-by-step from me the person who's illiterate on the computer and can really use as much help as possible, lol I truly believe that this man is an absolute. A miracle worker he is perfect for this job. You couldn't have fitted someone more better into that space and he definitely did his job above and beyond what has ever expected from people I'm so glad the library as him there help everyone such as myself.

What's funny about this library is that they are about ready to renovate it, and I still love it as…read moreit is. Usually a place that is going to be renovated is run down and ready for some love, but because the town and the citizens have taken such good care of this place and use it so regularly, their renovation is for an expansion. I'm excited to see what happens when it changes. As it stands, I think this place is great! Working right down the road, I frequent this library at least once a week. They have an extensive selection of DVDs and videos with many new releases as well as foreign films. They also have a pretty good selection of audio books. I love the small upper balcony that has a few tables tucked away - a nice place to do some work and people watch at the same time. The librarians who work here are always friendly and helpful. There are only a few computers for use (4 I think), but it's never that long of a wait - remember that Walpole is a town, not a city. The library loses one star for 2 reasons: 1. Their audio book loan policy. While books can be taken out for 3 weeks, audio books can only be checked out for 2 weeks. While, they can be renewed, I don't understand why the amount of time is shorter. I pretty much have to renew every book I take out. 2. Parking. Every time I have to park in the back parking lot (because the streets are filled) I feel like I'm about to get into an accident. The entry into it is too small, so if one person is trying to get out, the other person can't get in.

I used to be very skeptical of going to random libraries. I really like to get everything I need to get done whenever I go out to go somewhere for something. It's just easier not to make separate trips to do separate things. I don't work in or live near Mansfield, so I haven't been here before, and won't likely return. However, I was in the area and figured that it couldn't hurt to stop here and get the documents printed that I needed. Plus, just recently I visited another random library and had an excellent experience (the printers work very well at the Bellingham Library....). I don't mind printing my personal documents at the school I work at, but prefer to do them either at home (too bad I don't have a printer anymore....) or go to a library. Over a long period of time, I have come to the conclusion, after buying way too many ink cartridges and various printers, that it's just easier to go to the library to print. So I came in here, got a guest pass, and got onto a computer. Either the Wifi was really, really PAINFULLY slow, or the computer was not up to date with the current updates. It seemed like a combination of both. My documents were changed, not to my knowledge when they went to the printer, so nothing came out correctly. I came in to print thirty documents, and sent them all to the printer before printing any. Long story short, the documents all printed incorrectly. I wasted 30 minutes messing with a computer that didn't like loading, or printing things correctly, and wasted over four dollars printing. Too bad I didn't need to run any errands in Bellingham, because it took me so much less time to print and I actually got what I needed. What a waste. Unfortunate, they haven't updated their computers or printers here. 2 stars. Oh, and by the way, the entire parking lot area and exterior are of this library was in shambles with metal, other materials and stuff everywhere. What is going on here?

Kristin was a huge help to me today, she was very patient and showed me how to use Microsoft Word, attach a resume, save it, etc. Such a great place. with nice people like her, what a difference her kindness made, She knows computers and has a easy way of talking and dealing with people, just awesome. The girls up front are friendly and also very nice. I highly recommend you stop in.

I want to give a shout out to two really helpful Staff that made my time there seamless. The first one was SYDNEY, actually left the desk and guided me to the right location and used the equipment to get my project done since I was unfamiliar how to maneuver it! She directed me to another floor where another Staff member DUSTIN, guided and helped me complete project! I hope the Supervisors know how wonderful these two Staffers are! Thanks for all your help!

There are so many things to love about the Thomas Crane Public Library, that this review will…read morebecome a "listicle" style of review. So... without further adieu: - Library of Things: It's already amazing enough that libraries have books, movies, music, magazines, and other media. Thomas Crane also has an ample select of items that can be checked out: wellness and sport, hobby, tech, tools, home, and many more. - Green Space: There is a large outdoor area with a handful of benches and trees. Not enough to call it a mini-park, but enough to be noted, and great for reading or relaxing outside on a nice day. I think they have Wifi available outdoors, too. - Staff: everyone I've interacted with has been patient, friendly, and kind. - The Richardson Building: This is a wing of the library from 1882. The wood throughout, lighting fixtures, stained glass windows, all are from, or inspired, a different time. It is like a special, permanent exhibit in a museum, and something I loved to have in my local library when I lived in Quincy. - Common Space: I hold that libraries are one of the few public spaces where one can exist without spending money. While this isn't shopping mall, its not a bad place for someone to spend a few hours. - Cafe: I never bought food or coffee, but it's gratifying to have a cafe available in a space like this. - Bookstore: While as with the cafe I haven't bought any books, it's cool to have a dedicated space for buying books the library may want to sell for whatever reason. - Parking: need I say more? A lot with more than enough space for library patrons. I don't recall their ever not being a spot when I needed one. - Collections: While not as large as Boston Public Library, Thomas Crane has an impressive collection of materials and media. Everything is well organized too. There's even board and card games available to borrow. The one and only complaint I have is that some of the furniture, namely the carrells are a little worn.

Free internet, but it is kinda slow...still free.Not really used to it, since my house has fast internet. So much books, magazines, references, CDs, and DVDs. There are more items here than work space. I stayed at a table,and I could clearly hear the people in front of me, next to me, and behind me. Not much room from people who are close by. The librarians here are really nice though. I like them. One of the older ladies here have a cute little laugh,and I get all warm inside when she does. I picture her handing me some warm fresh baked cookies and a glass of milk while I'm working.

The library is part of the Old Colony Library Network, which isn't the greatest, but their interlibrary loan system works well and you can get the books you want without having to worry about shipping and handling. Why buy best sellers that you will only read once? Why buy travel guides for a trip you'll only take once? Instead, you can get them through the library. And you can place books on hold AND "order" books through interlibrary loan all online. Just have your library card handy! With limited funding and budgets slashed left and right, it's hard for local libraries to provide the full services like larger libraries can. However, the Rockland library not only provides public use computers for patrons, a children's reading room, work by local artists, a knitting club, a gardening club, and online research databases ... the staff is pleasant and always willing to help. The parking here can be a little troublesome (I like to get in touch with my hipster side and walk to the library from home with my sack-o-books over my shoulder), but there is ample parking alongside the side streets. Don't like that the library isn't opening on weekends? Write to your local councilman (or councilwoman) to voice your concerns. Start a petition and fight the power!

The center is based on a gas station, Dunkin Donuts, Walgreens, a few other small shops, and this library. Now, I was looking forward to a great experience at the Norfolk Public Library. I needed to print a few things out, and thought I'd stop by before going to the amazing book sale this library has annually, as I go to it every year, and it is always amazing. I may a day of going to this sale, as the book sale this library puts on every year is always amazing. Speaking of the book sale, I would rate that at 5 stars. It is, in my opinion, triple-tied with Natick & Auburndale as the best book sale in Massachusetts. It occurs at the DPW Garage on Medway Branch Road, in April every year, presented by the Friends of this Library. Anyway, upon entering the library, it was actually quite nice. It seemed somewhat new, super clean, and a large variety of books, DVD's, and a huge children's section for such a small town. As I said before, I stopped at the library to print some things out (as I don't have (but should) a printer at home anymore), and was greeted by John at the reference desk. John was friendly and kind, but simply, disappeared right as I got to one of the computers. Since I don't live in Norfolk, and patronize one of my favorite libraries in Dedham, I have a MLN library card, not in the Norfolk network. I tried to find John, and then just went to the front desk. It was crowded, with one woman working and about 3 people in line waiting to check out books and some DVD's. Long story short (well, it might be too late for that, but whatever), it took me about 10 minutes to tell her I needed a guest pass, and then after waiting an additional 10 minutes for her to come over to the reference area, I just left. I have NEVER been treated so poorly at a public library. Normally, I have only good experiences at libraries (except for the Westwood Public Library, and now here), but this left me disgusted with the staff at the Norfolk Public Library. If you need a library in the Norfolk area, go to either the Walpole Public Library, or the Franklin Public Library, dependent upon which side of town you are on. This is NOT what a library should be like. 2 stars.
