It had been a LONG time since I had been to a shooting range, and I'm so glad I decided to visit SharpShooter STL! Shooting is actually something I used to do quite a bit years ago, and after this visit I realized how much I missed it. I had such a great time getting back on the range. The facility is impressive, well organized, affordable, and I really liked the setup of the indoor lanes and digital target system. I also appreciate that they offer everything from basic handgun and refresher courses to more advanced training and private instruction. Since it has been a while for me, I'm definitely interested in taking advantage of some of their training as I get back into shooting regularly. They made the experience enjoyable, and I left already thinking about coming back. This used to be a sport and hobby that I really enjoyed a long time ago, and my visit to SharpShooter reminded me why. I definitely plan on getting back into shooting and making it something I do regularly again. I'll be back very soon! This place is awesome. I didn't even realize we had a range in the city, but I'm so glad we found it! My husband and I came in on a Thursday, and they had ladies day, so pricing was awesome. We shared a bay and stayed for probably an hour or so. Plenty of time to get through some rounds in our new rifle. They can't HVAC the range because of all the lead, so just be aware of that, on hot days, it's HOT. But other than that, we had a blast! They also had a worker that was coming over and giving me tips, which was awesome and appreciated. Definitely recommend if you don't want to drive 40 minutes to an outdoor range! read more

Their website states that they're open until 8pm. I called at 5mins to 6pm checking to see if they had a handgun in stock. Employee named Shawn answered and proceeded to pitch a fit that I was calling so late and that the guns shop closes at 6pm, only the range is open until 8pm. Update your website with relevant information and train your staff to have some semblance of professionalism. My money spends fine elsewhere. read more

Great deal! Totally reccomend checking this place out. I had not been to a shooting range before, so either ranges are cheaper than I expected or this one specifically had good prices. We paid for an initial weapon fee and then we were able to switch out weapons for free, just had to pay for ammunition. The staff were super helpful and knowledgeable. I was suprised and a little skeptical of how easy it was to just go shoot! We had a blast though. The safety gave us a quick rundown on how to use the machine to move the targets. They had really fun posters for the Halloween season. We shot at pictures of a zombie Jeffery Dahmer, world dictators., and pumpkins. Neat concept to have a restaurant connected to a shooting range too- made a good birthday suprise for my dad! They even have soap to remove lead in the bathrooms if you choose to eat after shooting. read more

I've been to this place twice. I can see the appeal. Nice location with a restaurant inside. Went there earlier today and it was nearly as hot inside the shooting range as it was outside. Within a few minutes of walking into the firing range, sweat was pouring off my forehead. I asked if the a/c was broken and they replied they don't have it. Left early. Wouldn't say I won't be back but if I do come back, it will be in the fall/winter or with a lot of ice water--or both. read more

For an amateur like me, this was a great range to try out some guns and get some shooting in. The woman at the front desk was very helpful with explaining the rules, helping pick equipment and guns and making sure all procedures were followed properly. Felt very safe and they are serious about it. Very decent gun selection for rent. Bullets are expensive AF. All in all, a great place to visit. For a group of 3 to shoot for about 45 mins, it was around $200. Would def visit again. read more

This is how we started off Father's Day Weekend. Thankfully we got there early because it gets busy. We received a friendly greeting and got our protective gear. (The free ear plugs just weren't enough for us, so we purchased the actual ear protection head set.) If it's not busy you pay your money and shoot as long as you'd like. $10 and you can try as many different firearms as they have available to you. (Ammo is extra) I'm still learning what I like, and would be best for me. I got to try 5 different firearms which has really helped me narrow down the search. The recommendations were helpful. My only drawback was masks weren't mandatory. Many wore them but most of the staff didn't. Also hand cleaning options were scarce. Thank goodness I stay prepared. read more

My friend is a member here and he took me shooting a couple of weeks ago. They have some good rates if you aren't a member and great discounts if you go with a member. The facility is clean and well-organized. The staff were very helpful and professional. The lobby is large and clean and they have a few merchandise you can buy. If you accidentally left your safety gear at home (safety first!), they have some so don't worry. They also have targets for sale if you forgot those. The actual range is nice. I've never shot indoors and it wasn't as awful as I thought it would be. The clients were nice and respectful of others as well. Can't wait to go back! read more

The best indoor range in Saint Louis Area. Unlike some others ranges in the area , at Sharpshooters, you can shoot all day for the same rate you pay for 1 hour at some ranges. (if you go when its very crowded you may have to take turns to let someone else use the bay but you still aren't on a time limit.) Bays are nice size to train people in. Rapid fire is allowed and you don't have stupid target holders to pay for if a round hit it. Very knowledge staff that offers all kinds of classes no matter your experience with firearms!!! read more

One of my bucket list items this year was to learn how to shoot a gun. I didn't grow up around guns, and knew little about them before attending the First Shot class earlier today. I went with my wife. The class was surprisingly small. There were only 5 students... 3 female, and one other male. The instructor was an ex-FBI agent. He took us through a couple hours of classroom training. We learned about gun types, safety, techniques, and marksmanship. He had a PowerPoint deck that led him through the topics. The deck kind of sucked... it was a little wordy. His lecture and speaking points held the class together though. After we learned the basics in the class, a second instructor joined us and we headed to the range. There is a 5 stall range just for the training classes. This was nice. You didn't have to feel intimidated by those that shoot there on a regular basis because we had our own section. We got to shoot everything from small conceal and carry pistols, to revolvers, up to assault rifles. I found myself liking the Glock pistol the best. The range is new, well maintained, and I always felt safe. The instructors were patient, but addressed any issues they saw with our technique. I was surprised I did so well. The experience was thrilling. They have guns for loan so I'm sure I'll come back and practice a little more. The whole time we were in the class, I kept getting distracted by the smell of BBQ. It seems they have a restaurant connected to the range. After class I got to try some of their pulled pork and brisket. It was pretty good BBQ... although the brisket was way better than the pork. They had other things like smoked wings and nachos. This would be a GREAT place for a date. The experience was memorable. The whole operation seemed top notch. On a negative note, the schedule online isn't always right. Our class was at 9am even though the schedule online says it was supposed to be an afternoon class. Be sure to call and ask for the actual class hours. Also, the website said the class was going to be $50 but we were charged $60 on site. read more

Guns scare the crap out of me, I'm a Californian and I have my views. Anyway, I digress.. This review is in regards to the facility, the staff and their services. Overall Sharp Shooter Indoor Shooting Range is a great facility, I felt pretty safe, it was fairly clean and very well stocked. The staff was outstanding and professional, they were very clear in communication and were very respectful and engaging to all visitors. There were plenty of different targets to choose from, services they offered including gun cleaning, protection available for purchase and reasonable rates. There's also tons of parking in their private lot. This was my first and only gun range I've ever been to, I shot two guns with two bullets total. It is an absolute nerve wrecking experience and I honestly can say I probably will never ever shoot another gun and can comfortably live my life with never having to shoot another gun. These are incredibly dangerous weapons that should only be handled by professionals or those who understand and hold high respect for guns. Guns rip through everything and can be fatal and unfortunately if in the wrong hands massive amounts of lives can be taken in an instant. I'm not a democrat or a republican, this is just common knowledge. With that being said, I believe this facility is regulated and run in a professional and legal manner with high standards and rules to follow. For the most part there was always a staff member present in the shooting range either sweeping up the walk way or supervising. However there were some moments (ranging from one to five minutes) where there were no staff members present in the shooting range and that is why I am removing a star. I firmly believe that there should have been a staff member or two present a all times. We all want to believe that no one is going to turn or nothing will go wrong, but we have to remember that these are incredibly dangerous and accidents can happen. read more

This place was great. We arrived Saturday afternoon; beginners tip they were really busy. You need to check in and bring your ID. It was a bit of a wait to get a shooting lane. We needed to go through the safety gun handling course. The instructors were patient and thorough. We had our safety goggles and ear protection. You get a target, some ammo and your gun. You pay for an hour. It is loud but so much fun. This place has a restaurant, sadly they ran out of food. Cool place to learn to shoot a gun. Bonus they have a ladies night on Thursday. First time shooting a gun at a range. I'm not really a "gun person" so I was pretty clueless about everything really. I went into the shooting stall with a friend. We also had one of the guy's out front go over everything for us and stand with us in the stall. We got a target and 50 rounds to split. It was pretty great. I shot a 40 caliber and it did have kick but I didn't think it was too bad. The place was well kept up and clean. This was my second time here. The first time was to take a beginners class. Now I have never shot at gun much less healed one in my hands. The instructor Larry was awesome, he help me and my husband( who had a little more gun experience) get the hang of loading, aiming and shouting at gun. Every one was professional, helpful and all around awesome! If u take the classes Larry will probably be your teacher and he goes above and beyond to u feel comfortable and safe while handling guns. We went in yesterday for out second time just to look at the guns that we had shot during our class. While in there we saw Larry and he asked us if I wanted to shoot again before my husband and I decided on a gun to buy. He took us to the room whet we learned the week earlier and stayed with me to make sure I was comfortable and got the feel for the guns. I've heard a lot of good reviews about this place and really was looking forward to my first shooting range experience here. I went in there today and was just thoroughly disappointed. First of all I called the gun range earlier and made all my important inquiries first so I wouldn't basically waste my time. I wanted to bring my 17 year old nephew with me because he has gone to a gun range before with his uncles, and I didn't want to go by myself. My questions were: did I have to be my nephew's legal guardian to have him with me? (Answer: No, as long as I was an adult and we have a 21+ year old in the group.) He doesn't have an idea, but could his school ID work if I had his birth certificate as well? (Yeah, that works.) Those were the two main questions I had, and basically when I got there I couldn't help but feel a stuck up, rude attitude towards my group. I completely understood the situation with my nephew, but then one of my friends was 19, and they said that he couldn't shoot without a parent or legal guardian. I have never heard that before, and there was no sign or notice of that you HAD to be 21. I just don't understand how I could've called them just a few hours earlier and then later they tell me some other BS. Either they need to improve their shooter requirements on their website or in their shooting range. I felt very hurt that my first experience was facing that. Whoever answered me on the phone definitely gave my hopes up, and I disliked the rude attitude immensely. We didn't deserve that. Never coming back, sorry, not sorry. read more

OK, first of all this is a really hard review to write because this place was awesome and when you look up the phrase "man of few words" my picture will be no where to be found! My buddy's wife purchased a meal and firing range package here for his 40th birthday. They have these after they close the store so there is a LOT of personal attention. There were five couples including my wife and I and we had at least three employees while shooting. I went to this with a little dread. A couple years ago I inherited guns from my dad, some of which I traded for a S&W .40 caliber semi-auto pistol. I took it when I got it and shot a 100 rounds at a inferior local indoor range and hated the experience. It had sat in the gun safe until last night. I am sure my wife envisioned her evening as a few hours of chit chatting with the other wives while the boys got their "testosterone fix". After eating delicious BBQ, coleslaw and baked beans we all were given instruction on range rules and safety. When asked who had never fired a gun before only my wife raised her hand. We then ALL proceeded to the firing range with three employees/instructors. After missing the target badly, which I had done in my first experience, I asked for help. I received great instruction and was able then to hit what I was aiming at. My wife shot next . I expected her to shoot the .22 sidewinder pistol I had brought but instead she stepped up to fire the .40 caliber. After some instruction she shot dead center into the target! She had a ball! Sharp Shooter supplemented us with a couple other guns in the same caliber as we brought. First word of caution. I went to Walmart and purchased ammo made in Russia, OK I admit that it was because it was cheaper. I knew the casings were metal but even though the projectile appears to be brass it is also metal. They like apparently all ranges don't allow steel. Last word of caution. They don't have sweet tea! ;-) read more

Husband and I were excited to find out they have $1 rentals on Wednesdays! We ended up trying out 3 9mm hand guns. The whole shop was so friendly and helpful. Never felt rushed or like they were impatient with me (a complete novice). Will definitely be back to shoot as well as buy when the time comes. read more

I generally hate shooting indoors because it can get so loud and crowded but this place is pretty good, definitely above the average experience. The staff are helpful and very good at expediting registration, it can get very crowded in here especially on the weekends so that's very important. A regular all day pass cost $21.00 with an $8.00 charge for the second shooter on the same lane. That's a very good price because you can really stay there all day but sometimes if the waitlist is really getting long and you've been there for more than 3 hours then they might ask you to give other customers a chance and then just come back later in the day. That's still not bad because you just get the overall feeling that you can shoot as much as your heart desires without feeling rushed. As for the facility itself, the lanes are a good size and if you get a corner lane then even better because those are just a teensy bit wider than the middle ones. The electronic target system is easy to control and goes up to 75 feet. It is generally very clean and there is ample space behind each lane to stand and set other things down. I definitely recommend this place to other shooters and if you are a Yelper, make sure to check in for your free target. read more

my first time here and the food was delicious I got a good helping of meat and two sides for $18 pretty reasonable for a BBQplate. I am a little curious as to where they smoke their meat. I didn't see any smokers are grills anywhere. staff was very nice. my wait to pick up my order was pretty short only 15 min all in all pretty nice experience. the shooting range wasn't anything that I had any interest in looking at. when your my age gunslinging is dangerous. read more

My service was so over the top outrageously poor at Sharpshooters I have downloaded Yelp and this is my first and only review. I loved SharpShooters. I could not talk about it enough. From the reasonable shooting time, to how clean and nice it is, to the awesome food and friendly staff. Anytime anyone brought up firearms, I talked about Sharp Shooters and how much I liked it there. I have a firearm that I take out rarely, a 1974 Colt Detective Special in nickel. It is downright beautiful. The nickel shines and it is in excellent condition. It is not NIB but it is truly clean. A buddy and I went shooting and we put 40 rounds through it so I decided to try out SharpShooters cleaning services. The person working the counter remarked how clean it looked, he wrote down that the firearm was in "excellent condition", I reminded him about the nickel finish and to take precautions for it, and that was that. I chose to pick it up 2 and a half weeks later and the nickel finish is scratched beyond belief. I cannot emphasis enough how utterly screwed the nickel was. The finish all around the grip to the cylinder had scratches everywhere. The finish was destroyed. And on one side the scratches were all vertical and on the other they were all horizontal. It completely looked like someone had used a brush to clean it that was to coarse. When I first saw it I noticed right away. The guy behind the counter asks if everything is ok which I replied "Yes". I then took it outside for 2-3 minutes and looked at the damage in the sunlight to verify I was actually seeing what I thought I saw. I went inside, told them about the problem, and told them I could not deal with this now, I had to go back to work (I was on lunch break). I get a call from whom I assume is the manager named Wade. I tell him about the issue calmly and explain that I did not leave my DS in their care in that condition. He immediately jumps down my throat and says that he doesn't know what I was up to during those 2-3 minutes I was outside. He is insinuating that I somehow scratched up my firearm when I was outside looking at all of the damage after they cleaned it. Next he remarks that I haven't picked it up in "half a month", as if something about me picking it up later in the month had something to do with the scratches.He then proceeds to tell me that technically there aren't that many "scratches"...but that they are "scuffs"... Then he says there is no way anything they did could possibly ever scratch the finish. Never. Ever. And then follows up with, "besides when you dropped your firearm off you signed a disclosure stating how we would not be liable for any damage done to the firearm when we cleaned it". Can you believe this? We then end this conversation with him telling me to go pound sand by him saying "There is nothing I can do/What do want, Mike" over and over. During this whole conversation I never even made a SINGLE request of what I wanted him to do because Wade was so over the top confrontational. Not a single request. I did not even ask for my $25 dollars back from the cleaning fee. Finishing this fiasco up, I just picked it up from Sharp Shooters. The guy behind the counter offered to refund my $25 but I told them to keep it. I took a look at it and it looks like they gave it a buff, 90% of the scratches/scuffs are gone on one side and 70% are gone on the other. Still in much worse shape then I gave it to them in, though I do not know why buffing it was not an option that was presented to me from the beginning. Here, I was a huge fan of Sharp Shooters. I gave them the best word of mouth and spoke highly about them to anyone who would listen. But after this customer service shit-show I will actively tell others not to go. They screwed up something that should have been simple, instead of fixing it with a buff of some sort I had to deal with Wade which sucked, and in the end I left unhappy, disrespected, and with a beautiful firearm damaged. This could have easily been avoided had there been a single shred of respect from Wade. Jesus, that is long. read more
