I was sent a lovely bouquet from Shay's by my company for a recent loss. I received the boquet on Wednesday and by Friday, it started to wilt and when I came in on Monday, half of the flowers were droopy and already dead. I figured they'd last at least a week - at least the flowers from Safeway do... I decided to send an email. I wasn't expecting much I just wanted to share my experience. I got a prompt reply from Shay apologizing and offering a replacement bouquet! I was not expecting this and I had told Shay that it wasnt necessary but if she insisted, would be considered a gracious gesture. A few hours later, I got a delivery! I am so impressed and just excited that they really care that much. I wanted to share my experience because Shay's went way above and beyond and for that, I appreciate your business practice. I ordered flowers on behalf of my job for a coworker's dad's funeral. Shay's Flowers took good care of me and the price was right.

Why do they just call this a flower shop?! Whenever I think of this place, I think of truffles. Little concentrated chocolate bits of heaven. Irish creme truffles, how I crave you so. I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers on Wednesday and by Friday many of them had died. I called the shop and they said they did not know why this would happen, and certainly neither did I. I suggested that I could email before & after pics to show them the difference. Once they received the pics, the woman said she spoke with the owner and he didn't want an unhappy customer so they would drop off another bouquet. Flowers were delivered, the bouquet was nice not as nice as the original one however I appreciated their extension of the peace pipe. Here's the thing, I don't get flowers very often, and when I know that someone paid big bucks on a gift for me, I want to enjoy it for more than 2 days. I am giving them 5 stars because I needed a same day delivery and I made the order at 4pm. Delivery person went home so the man I spoke with over the phone offered to drop off the orchid on his way home. I really needed this to my friend today because she had an awful day. What I ordered and what I received were two very different things. I preordered so they were able to get what they needed. When I called I was told they used no filler and added extra daisies and if I wanted color then I needed to bring the basket back in. Terrible customer service. read more

They are very open about their flowers and work with your budget. I wanted a high end arrangement and the florist put aside what she was working on to do my order. So I went in again, after getting the owner's response (Which, by the way, I find in poor taste; I wrote exactly what my experiences had been and I appreciate it when other Yelpers do the same, discouraging this practice seems dishonest.) to see what was what, maybe my last experience was an exception. However, the choice of flowers was still pretty mediocre and the man behind the counter was just as unfriendly as the last woman had been when I was there last, which is odd because every time I call a younger girl answers the phone and is incredibly cheerful and sweet and helpful. So, again, I feel there are better places to get your flowers. Still only three stars. read more

Shay's is absolutely wonderful. I recently moved from Santa Cruz to New York City and had a family emergency spring up and I wanted to send flowers that would reach them immediately. I booked an order online for a flower arrangement, chocolates and a teddy bear, then continued to search in other flower selections on their website and found an arrangement that I preferred. I called the store and the shop girl was new, but VERY helpful, detailed and friendly, assuring me that my flowers would reach their destination before 3pm. And sure enough by 3pm I had received a thank you photo message from my family that contained my arrangement, teddy, chocolates and note with their teary faces. THANK YOU SHAY'S!! The owners/designers really have no idea the correct ways to put flowers together. They put out arrangments that have flowers that are already close to dead or sometimes already dead. On their website the majority of the pictures are pictures they found on other websites. The orders they send out really do not look like the pictures. If your looking to buy an arangment that won't last very long and is very poorly put together then go ahead and order from them. If you want an arangment that will last for at least a week, is harmonious, and has great design then I highly reccomend you go somewhere else. I will never shop there, and I wouldn't reccomend it to anyone. read more

This is the worst experience I have ever had with a flower shop. After placing my order online 2 days before, and paying $100 for an arrangement to be delivered on Valentine's Day, the arrangement never showed up and the shop insists it was delivered on time. I do NOT recommend this shop or dealing with it's rude employees. read more

The Mother's Day arrangement I received was not the best quality. On their website, they guaranteed 100% satisfaction, so I called to explain to them (Mike) and he just about told me it was my fault for not watering the arrangement. 1st day great, but by the 2nd & 3rd day the flowers were wilting/dead, the green was now off dark green, etc. Before when this shop was still Cathcart's and before it became Shay's, it was a quality florist to order from, but the current owners do not honor their own guarantee. I ordered some flowers on here and what I chose didn't even come close to what was delivered. I spent over 100.00 and go I would say 50.00 worth of flowers. I showed my coworkers since this was a gift for our boss's dad. Everyone agreed that we didn't get what we paid for. I called the same day that I received a picture from my boss to thank us. I was extremely disappointed. I called and spoke to a lady named Mariah who was very rude over the phone and basically told me "what is it that you want me to do?" I mean who says that to a customer? I asked for her manager to give me a call she said that would be the owner of the shop I asked for their name and was given the name Mike she said she would have him call me back the next day. Did he ever call me? No, he didn't or maybe she didn't pass the message. Customer service was poor and you do not get the what you order! I will never order from here again. All I got were a bunch of cheap flowers which didn't even look like what was ordered. If I could give 0 stars I would have. read more
