But now she's struck out on her own. As an older woman, I appreciate that I can count on Bonnie to give me a cut that I'll like and is appropriate for my age. I'm not 25 anymore, and I don't want the latest style for 25-year-olds. Bonnie listens to what I want and then does what I ask. Before Bonnie, I found that to be a rare quality among hair stylists. She gave me a fantastic haircut, instructed me to stay away from the scissors, and just helped me feel so welcome and taken care of. The salon is beautiful, the atmosphere calming. I explained my haircut and being nonbinary…read more(there's typically a price difference between men's and women's cuts, I have very short hair, it's essentially a mohawk with shaved sides, it takes 5-10 mins to cut), I was quoted $17, and told to call for an appointment. I called at 1:47pm, said I emailed, they had an opening at 2:00 or 2:30. Cool! I said 2:30, as I just moved here, and am still trying to figure out where I'm going, and cannot teleport somewhere in 13 mins. So I go in, explain I just need the sides cleaned up, and to fix the mess I've made of the top part. The stylist doesn't use a neck band to keep the small hair's from falling down the back of my neck and shirt, but that's fine. She misgenders me a few times, I try to correct her, she keeps going. Then she charges me $19 for a women's haircut. I get that it's only a $2 difference, but it's the principle of the matter that I'm not a woman, and I emailed ahead of time to explain this and ask about this. I may be AFAB, but it's 2021, almost 2022. If I email to ask about my haircut, call about the haircut, I just expect honesty. This place is fine if you're straight, cis, and white, because the stylists were all just talking about their husbands hunting, fishing, and watching Ice Road Truckers while I was in there, but if you're any kind of different? I would not recommend this place. Pros: +Affordable +Quick +Can book you for an appointment soon Cons: -Not LGBTQ+ friendly -Doesn't take steps besides caping for making sure you don't have any hair on you -No COVID19 precautions I'm not one to leave a one star review (or not tip, I still tipped $7) unless things are absolutely traumatic, so I'm still giving them a 2, because I did get my haircut, and it's fine. But I certainly didn't feel respected, and I won't be back. I'm poor, and I'd rather try my luck with the local Great Clips than go back here. I used Gemini to recommend a place that is specific to my hair style: bald fade, high and tight, flattop. I know it's an extremely difficult cut to ask for and I've only had three stylists the past 30 years. Gemini recommended this place and I read the bios before I had made an appointment and select Jennifer M. I was extremely nervous going to a salon as a male expecting to feel unwelcome amongst the females. To my surprise I was greeted with open arms and warm smiles. I was also surprised at the male presence at a salon and spa. The waiting area is tight due to limited space amongst the hair products but when Jennifer M approached me, on time, she greeted me with a welcoming smile. She chatted with me and my nerves had ended. I knew I was in great hands. She did a fabulous job and already booked my next haircut in three weeks. I hope that she will be with me my next ten years. It is so relaxing to be able to listen to my music and take in the lovely aroma and calming effect of the salt therapy. The shop felt welcoming from the moment I stepped inside. I was immediately given a tour of the shop and offered a refreshment. The waiting area is fresh and comfortable, and the entire shop is immaculate. My stylist, Laura, spent time asking questions about my likes/dislikes, and what I wanted out of our time together. The first photo is what I asked for the second one is how I walked in and the third is how I walked out. She cut my hair up to my chin, I asked it to be at my collar bone, she left it blunt, and screwed up the bangs!! She also took chunks out of my hair , didn't ask anything about where I wanted my length like I told her collar bone but she never checked with me if I liked the length or nothing just started chopping and straightening my hair, I walked out of that place in tears , I don't even want to show the photo of my hair before and after but I will,I did end up going to another salon to get my hair fixed but she couldn't even save it. Someone needs to take away her scissors!!Please please please please do not go here if you have a choice!!
