I had my haircut with Allie, and she was fantastic. She took the time to talk through different haircut options and future ideas, explained pricing clearly, and was incredibly knowledgeable and patient. I never felt rushed and appreciated how thoughtful she was in helping me decide what would work best. My stylist was incredibly sweet, and did a lovely job on my bridal hair but it didn't hold up at all and fell out before the reception even began. My 5 year old niece got her hair done like Frozen, but it fell out on the car ride home even though she was playing quietly. My sister in law got her hair done and had to fix both their styles at home as best she could. In less than 1 hour my bridal style was completely falling down. I went to get my makeup done right after my appointment--not a high impact activity--and it dropped out 50%. I went back to Simple Scissors right after my makeup but it was a Saturday and they'd closed in the hour I was gone since they have short weekend hours. My aunt had to redo my hair before the reception started, which was very disappointing considering Simple Scissors is a high quality salon and the hairstyles were expensive. read more

Kayla did an EXCELLENT job on my cut. For me, my favorite part was when washing my hair, she massaged my scalp. Talk about RELAXING. We had to wait a few minutes for the conditioner..during this time she massaged my hands. So NICE! I am so happy to have found this lovely Aveda salon and especially Kayla! I called this salon inquiring about the American wave they offer as a service. I spoke with the GM Ashley. I had a wedding to go to in April. I explained to her that my hair is very fine. She assured me that the stylist that would be doing my hair was extremely experienced in doing this service. I would like to add that I have long blonde hair that was very healthy when I walked into the salon. The young stylist that did my hair wrapped it so poorly that I couldn't even get the top of my hair to style. I let the salon know this and was told that they would bring me back in to rewrap the top of my head. They allowed this same young girl to do the wrap with minimum guidance. I also would like to add that I was charged for this service. In addition, speaking with this young stylist, she told me, she had in fact, only done about three perms and is. "learning." This wrap did nothing to correct the problem. I went home and chunks of my hair were falling out in my sink. it burned parts of my hair off in chunks. I sent these pictures to the salon. I asked for the owner Rachel to contact me. I was told, I can go some place else to get it fixed." Rachel was aware of this situation and never once as the owner offered to even look at the damage to my hair. Even after I requested her to. She in fact sent me a check for $178 dollars as if this is supposed to compensate for my damaged hair. She was more than aware that burnt chunks of my hair were falling out, as I sent her the pictures. Rachel does not stand up to her salons word at all. instead, if there is adversity she will tell you to go some place else. I now have to wait at least a few months before I can even think to have it permed again. Rachel should be ashamed of herself for running a business and having very little care about customer service. $178 is not going to fix my hair Rachel. I would NEVER recommend anyone to use her services. Make sure your staff is trained before you take people's money. I don't blame your new stylist for my damaged hair. I blame you for not properly training her. read more

Alyssa is great! I highly recommend booking with her, especially if your considering eyelash extensions. I was extremely nervous going in, as it was my first set of lash extensions ever and she did an amazing job of calming my nerves, being very gentle and continuously checking to make sure I was comfortable and feeling okay. I called to make an appointment for a cut and partial foil. I have not been to this salon and just from the experience of my phone call, I would never let anyone that works there touch my hair. The receptionist took my information, all of which I had to repeat several time for her to understand what I said (I work in a call center, my customers can always understand me, not sure what her issue was.) I told her I needed something after 5. She gave me and appointment an appointment for the next day at 5:30, told me where to park and then told me to hold. Someone gets back on the line and says "we have a scheduling conflict, can you come in at 1:30 tomorrow?" I repeated my need to have an appointment after 5. She says "well, ummm how about Thursday? We'll have to do your consultation over the phone." I ask what the consultation is for and she says it's required by law. I ask for clarification, as 2 minutes ago with another person on the line, I had an appointment, and now I have to do a consultation. I tell her that the conflicting information does not instill much confidence in the salon. She tells me the consultation is required by law and to "look it up on the Internet and call her back when I make up my mind." Annoyed, I look it up. There are not such federal or state laws. I call back and ask to speak to management. Her name is Anna, and she the rude one that told me to look it up on the Internet. She then feels she needs to clarify that it is a regulation for Aveda products. Yeah, not what you said. This place will never get any of my business and I will tell anyone that listens about my experience. read more

As soon as you enter Simple Scissors, you can feel the positive atmosphere and know you are going to have a great experience. Whether it's a cut, color, highlight, massage, mani, pedi or whatever. Everyone working at the salon is extremely capable. I've been a client for many, many years. Went to this salon today on the recommendation of my sister. I have had THE WORST haircuts all winter and she made an appointment for me with Sari. I had decided that I need to go to a salon that might cost a bit more, but you get what you pay for. The minute I entered, Ana gave me a tour of the place, offered me tea, coffee or water and explained their products. You feel like you are in a big city salon. Sari was THE BEST. I showed her pictures of what I wanted, we had some discussion and she had fantastic suggestions. The most important thing, she listened!!!! My haircut was PERFECT!!!! Now coming from me, that was an accomplishment. Usually, I know that I need to do my hair myself before I am sure the cut is OK. I knew just by looking at it that all was well with the world. When she was all done she said she was going to make some notes (I assume about my hair, etc). Isn't this what a GOOD hair stylist should always do when seeing a new client. Next time I go in she will be able to look at her notes and find out what worked for my hair and what didn't work. Yay Sari, I will be back for sure!!!!! read more

I got a fantastic haircut with Nikki. The place is really clean, everyone who works there is very friendly, and the haircut was a very reasonable price. Definitely the only place I trust to cut my hair in Janesville. I'm disappointed that the prices rose so much last year, but I still like to go because they do such quality work. I have curly hair, and have struggled for years to get a good haircut even at the best salons. The staff have been trained in the new Curly Girl styling methods, so for the first time in my life, my stylists know what they're doing. I've seen several stylists here (because I wait to get haircuts until I can't stand it anymore and then take whoever is available first, not because I don't want to stick with one stylist for any reason) and all have done a great job. I just can't afford to go in more than once every six months or so. read more

If I could give minus stars I would. I had long blonde hair and may I add very healthy hair as I do not use irons or heat. I asked for a straight cut/ collar bone length. I wanted all one length as it took years to grow into one length. My hair is just below my ears and not one length but several lengths. I wanted to go red and told R. my hair takes to color fast. She dyed it very dark and claimed to expect bleeding. I looked liked a seagull took a swipe at the top of my head and deposited blacktop. I went back a month later and this time the bleeding was very dark. Do not ask me why I went back. After calling the salon the next day and complaining vehemently I was told at "no cost" to me they would fix it. She had to take the color off which is bleaching and this she did not do right. It took her 2 attempts. My hair is frazzled, fried, and much worse off now than before I walked in that door. My scalp is raw and my ends are butchered. Do not let the mantra of how wonderfully "natural" Aveda is. Bleach is a natural product. The staff sounds like the Stepford Wives....on and on about how the product can not damage your hair because it is organically natural. I have waited for 3 weeks to write this as I did not want emotion to get in the way of critical assessment. But who am I fooling as women we are emotional about our hair. We want it to be healthy. When our hair looks good we feel good. Please everyone do not be fooled by the footpath, or hand scrub. This salon is also $40.00 dollars above all the same salons for the same service. I am just so bummed I did not see the forest for the trees after the first time. Be warned and just keep looking for another salon. Remember that to lift a color is to bleach hair...mine is now fried because R. was not qualified to take care of hair.. now I have a long grow out. read more
