Recently did my initial CFI with Shebles. Received all 1 on 1 ground instruction, in comparison to other programs where it's a lecture in a class of 20 people and only one instructor the 1 on 1 instruction made the training much higher quality. Their facilities may not be as fancy as ATP but it gets the job done. Also the DPE they use is very chill and fair. Overall a great experience. read more

Did some training with Sheble and they never completed my course or the hours I paid for. DO NOT pay a deposit for the lump sum of your training! They WILL NOT reimburse you for what you have not used. Pay only as you fly. Instructors here are only out for one thing, hours in their logbook! Two of them fell asleep on me while flying our night cross country! I believe a long, long time ago the original owner was a good person but since then, Jojo who is his son has run this business into the ground. He may seem like a nice guy but he will only care about one thing from you, your money! I scheduled a Sea Plane rating with the group. It was a fun and amazing adventure In the Cub. Some of the most fun flying I've ever done and I've been flying for 50 years now with over 25,000 hours and a stupid amount of ratings. Joe Joe did a great job while still making it fun. Please be aware that this operation is not fair or ethical. My daughter did not get to fly the seaplane let alone get to the point of a checkride due to an aircraft maintenance issue. The owner kept a $500 deposit even though she didn't get to fly it. He also kept another student's $500 deposit but at least that other student got to fly the plane once before it broke. The owner has not responded to our numerous attempts to contact him . Absolutely no response to any phone calls or texts regarding this issue. read more

I have done training with several facilities over 30 years and this place is at the bottom. Jo Jo and Rob Sheble will tell you anything you want to hear to take your money. Once they have your money the upsell starts, my instructor a competent nice guy told me he went to Jo Jo to work something into the regular flight time purchased but was told no and hit me with the upsell. If you want flight training don't walk RUN from this place! Jo Jo's house is the office and the entire thing is sub-standard from the minute you walk in. Upon further review of Sheble's you find they have been moving their facilities around for years due to many issues with sub-standard training. Jo Jo used to be a DPE like his father but too many complaints got both their tickets yanked. Training should be professional not some fly by night snake oil salesman. read more

I went to Sheble Aviation on a mission....to finish my private pilot training and earn my license. Sheble's didn't disappoint. The atmosphere is very congenial. The instructors have a lot of experience. My main instructor, Les, is a bush pilot from Alaska and he did a great job of drumming into my head that I control the airplane and not the other way around. I am especially thankful for Les demonstrating to me that as long as I keep my head and stay calm, I would not spin the aircraft. He didn't give me book training, he helped me develop the skills necessary to fly safely for a long time to come. The Examiner gave me the ultimate complement when he said, "you fly very well for a private pilot, you've clearly been trained properly." I can't think of a stronger shot in the arm and a better reason to give kudos to Sheble Aviation. If you are considering an accelerated program to earn a license or obtain a rating, then your first choice should be Sheble Aviation! read more

I Scheduled with Sheble for Commercial multi engine Land in mid january and paid the $516 deposit to reserve the time slot on March 1. I later learned the cost of training would be at least $6,000 more than was first agreed and cancelled the training about a week later. They didn't refund the deposit. I requested refund on three different emails and never got a response. I called on March 1 and again requested a refund 0f $516 for the deposit. Sheble assured me there would be no refund, reasoning that if I put down a deposit on a house, I would certainly not get a refund. Cancelling an appointment 5 or 6 weeks in advance of scheduled appointment was sufficient time to fill the schedule with another pilot, not to mention, they were not forthcoming or clear in the communication regarding costs. I would have been happy to come out and fly with Sheble anyway, reasoning there was a miscommunication on their part, these things happen, no harm. But refusing to refund an expensive deposit, hostile attitude, and the intent to provide absolutely nothing in exchange for the money is a form of theft. What else do you call it when people take your money and give you nothing. nothing more than a Rip-off. BTW, they have 2 similar complaints with Better Business Bureau. read more

Sheble's was exactly what I was looking for when it came to flight training. I enrolled in their initial CFI-airplane course, which was advertised as an 8-10 day course and finished in 6 days! The office staff was very friendly, helpful and informative, and the instructors definitely know their stuff. Cameron was my instructor for the week and I found his knowledge to be second-to-none. He was very clear, insightful, professional and helped put me at ease. The fleet of aircraft were maintained to an acceptable standard and never did I suffer any kind of setback due to maintenance (which was why I moved my training to Sheble's in the first place). I would recommend having as much self-study done before attending and use the ground school as more of a "touch-up" or review of the required items on the check ride. There is a lot of information to cover and if I hadn't prepared myself beforehand, it may have been a little overwhelming. Initial CFI's tend to have a 70-85% first time fail rate, but I was able to pass my practical test on the FIRST ATTEMPT, having received proper training, instructors who put me at ease, and gave me the confidence to pass with flying colors. I HIGHLY recommend Sheble's for any kind of training. I certainly plan on returning in the future. read more

Just successfully completed the Commercial Multi-Engine Instrument Add-On at Sheble's at VGT. Happy to report my streak of passing checkrides on first attempt remains intact and that is in no small part to MEI Josh's work to get me familiar with the TravelAir and required maneuvers and standards. Accelerated flight training is very tough and demanding approach to adding skills and certificates or ratings and requires a lot of dedication before you arrive to be successful, Jake at Sheble made that clear when I first contacted them and provided a training packet to assist. Called to schedule my multi. It took several phone calls and emails with broken promises to call me back before I was finally told I was on for memorial weekend. Eventually, Valerie stated she had called an examiner and scheduled a checkride for that Monday. A few days prior to my shceduled weekend, I decided verify everything was set. I called the number of the instructor given to me at booking. He says he's never heard of me and that his schedule doesn't show any sign of me. The examiners are unavailable and I won't be able to receive the training I prepared for. In planning for this training, I rescheduled work, made a non-refundable hotel reservation, and planned to sacrifice my holiday weekend to this endeavor. I'm truly shocked by the lack of organization and communication. I regret I worked so hard to schedule the training to begin with, that should have been a fair warning. read more

Let's talk about the facts; FAA grounded some of their planes over the past few weeks. Their instructors don't show up on time. All their instructors resigned en masse last week. I went here for my private pilot license. Inexpensive place to go for a rating. Great instructors. Planes are old, but they seem to keep up on the maintenance well. I got my private certificate in just 17 days!! I may come back for a seaplane add on, that sure looks like fun. Mr. Sheble senior is a total gentleman. read more

I got my multi-engine commercial from then many years ago and was very happy with the training I got. In fact I had no previous multi-engine time and after their program I went on to fly sky divers from a King Air for over a year with no problems. I plan to go back to Sheble's to get my CFI/II in the future. read more

My wife and I signed up for Sheble's 10-11 day instrument training course in early March for the purpose of acquiring our ratings in mid-April 2014. Our work schedules kept us on a hard departure date so our initial communications with Sheble addressed the need to checkride by a certain day. We were assured on schedule completion would not be a problem. What follows is a day by day breakdown of our appallingly negative experience at Sheble Aviation. If you're into quick and dirty here it is: * An instructor that falls asleep on cross-country flights as readily as on a traffic filled approach at the North Las Vegas Airport * Another instructor that took my wife on a 4.9 hour night cross-country in a C-172 with a published fuel endurance of 4.75 hours * A 'school' with 6 instrument students, 2 CFII, 1.5 airplanes (two planes with one lacking the requisite equipment for instrument training) and a complete absence of organization * An owner whose rare presence was highlighted by drinking Coors Light while having his mechanic install an engine in his race car while one of the 1.5 airplanes was down. If you're interested in the whole experience please read on. We arrived in Needles the night before the course began. The accommodations at America's Best Value Inn were suitable and for the Sheble rate of $36/night, very tolerable. The first day consisted of signing the requisite paperwork, paying for the course and ground school. Ground school was fairly well-organized and provided a great deal of information backed up by the training packet provided on the Sheble website. What we were not provided was a syllabus or overall plan for the course. I'll come back to this fact repeatedly as the theme of our experience was absence of organization. My day two was spent studying in the office studying followed by 1.5 hours of flight training. The initial instrument flight was challenging and I was spent after bouncing around in the desert heat chasing a needle and trying to read an approach plate. Day three and four were spent on the simulator and studying the provided materials. I also grabbed an Oral Exam Prep guide off the shelf and began studying it as well. As there were two CFII for 5-6 students, I ended up teaching myself how to use the sim and flew on my own the first couple approaches. Day four I received more formal/supervised training. It should also be said that the "state of the art ATC-710 simulator" may have been state of the art in 1999 but certainly isn't so in this millennia. It was awkwardly slow to get set up and froze up a few times. One instructor explained the software hadn't been upgraded in quite a while. At this point we were four days in and I had 1.5 flight hours and 4 sim hours (my wife was doing no better). We were both concerned about achieving the 40 hours stated the course would provide. Repeatedly throughout the course we had to ask what was planned for the following day. Several times through response came as "what do you want to do?" Not exactly a confidence inspiring reply. Increasing our concern was a disturbing scheduling event. A private student's checkride had been planned for a nearby local airport and he'd been prepping for that location. A week before the checkride the examiner informed the scheduler the ride would be out of North Las Vegas instead of the planned airport. Rather than inform the student when she was told, the scheduler waited until the night before his checkride. Thankfully he passed but it was totally unnecessary for him to be unprepared. The morning of the 5th day we had a serious conversation with our instructor about making hours and when and where our checkride would be scheduled. He insisted we'd make hours and that he would be transparent about our checkride scheduling situation. We came to find that our checkrides had been scheduled for two days after our planned departure. The evening of the 5th day, to ensure she was caught up on hours, the other CFII offered to take my wife for an evening flight. He did the flight planning while we grabbed dinner. They took off at 1900 and returned from the planned 3.15 hour flight at midnight. That's five hours (4.9 on the Hobbs). They did not get fuel along the way. The Sheble provided C-172 data has a flight endurance of 4.75 hours. The instructor exceeded the legal flight time of the plane by 0.65 hours, the actual amount of usable fuel by 0.15 hours and far more importantly jeopardized my wife's life. The kicker was that he had no idea how long they were gone. After review of the flight plan my wife determined the instructor planned the flight at 110kts. Never once during my time there did I see either 172 go above 105mph in level flight. Then the weird things started to happen... This school requires you to put 10% down before training is started, so that's what I did. However, I got a better offer from another school then tried to get my $460 back from Sheble. They had previously told me I would get it back if I decided not to train with them. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. I didn't sign a contract nor did any training with them. The owner is a theft, so now I have to sue him in small claims court. What a nightmare!!! read more

This is the worst place to get your licence. I am not saying this because i didnt get my licence, infact i got all of mine in first attempt here(4 of them). Although i have to say, if you are going to pay the money and want good professional instruction tehn go somewhere else. The placehas good instructors, but the management (jojo, sheble, etc) put so much pressure on the instructors, that they cant function like they want to. they have a brutal schedule of 5am to sometimes 8pm, non-stop i might add. they fall asleep on flights all the time. Checkrides are taken too casually, and your instructor is supposed to sign u off even if they know ur going to fail(because they have the free re-training clause)(if u pass, great, if u fail then only need to train on stuff u fail on). u learn nothing, and u lose everything. read more

Excellent flight school. Sheble is now operating at Needles and out of Las Vegas. Great instructors, very focused and incredibly positive. If you are looking for an accelerated training or adding a rating, the place is great. They provide for their own maintenance, I was really impressed with how they kept their aircraft - some of them rare like the Navion (what a privilege to fly this machine)! As a foreign pilot, this was the perfect fit for me. Come focus, ready to adjust to the flexiblity needed for an intensive training. You won't regret it! read more
