This is the first time I've shopped here since the pandemic started and the only change I see is that they put up plexiglass barriers right next to the cash register. There are no signs saying to keep six feet away, no one is cleaning the handles on the shopping carts and the cashier empties out your cart without wearing gloves. There was no plexiglass where the cashier stands to bag your groceries so it seemed pointless to have the partial plexiglass set up. Almost as is to seem as if they are being careful about distance and just made a half attempt at it. I wasn't really comfortable with the whole situation so I think I will shop at the bigger stores for now. read more

I try to only shop here if I don't feel like driving all the way to Meijer. They used to have the best meat selection, now it's shabby. Their fruit always goes bad very quickly once bringing it home. Their prices are higher than most. I understand they don't buy in as big of bill as a chain grocery store, but when basic items are $2 more, and let's say you buy 10 staple items... that's $20 extra, for what? read more

The deli staff will stare at you along with the bakery people but never actually speak to you and say be right with you ... hello or anything else. The deli staff is usually disheveled with a just rolled out of bed look. Long hair hanging everywhere. They touch the subs with their bare hands while wrapping them after they've just been on their filthy cell phones. No change of gloves between doing other odd jobs. This is close to home but is my last visit. Everything over priced but always figured I was paying for the convenience but glad to take my $150/$200 a week somewhere else. Make sure you check the dates . The cashier girls are hit or miss usually miss with the dark haired young brunette. Her phone is more exciting than her customers. read more

Located just outside of Romeo on the north end of town, you will find this full-line grocery store tucked away in a country mall setting, across the street from the Salvation Army store. It is a little crowded at the entrance where customers return their bottles, but once inside, the store layout provides a comfy feeling, with wide aisles to accommodate their shoppers. Interestingly set up, each aisle in this store has a unique street name on a sign hung from the ceiling. The deli section has your typical prepared foods, ready and waiting for you to scoop up and take home, or take on as long road trip to say, Frankenmuth or Saginaw. Stopped in because of the great reviews. I didn't need anything in particular but I stopped in anyways. I walked in and thought it reminded me of of a Spartan grocery store. I browsed over the ad and nothing struck my fancy but I was already through the doors and my kids were happy to take turns pushing a basket so why not take a quick browse around. It's a typical grocery store with a bakery, deli, produce and meat department. All your standard departments but on a much smaller scale than say Krogers or Meijers. The donuts looked good and at $.60 each I almost bought a few for my kids, but I had already promised them ice cream and how stupid would I be to give them THAT much sugar so close to bed! Moving on to the deli, there was a gentleman getting 2 pounds of macaroni salad so I leaned in to check out the offerings. Cole slaw was on sale for $2.99, as was the 2 types of potato salads they offered but neither looked appealing at all. Not to mention the whole deli case was a complete mess. Globs of this and that scattered all through out the case. It looked like the deli spoons got into a food fight with each other. Onward to the produce section....The produce was rather sad looking, I wouldn't have purchased anything even if I did need something, plus the prices were rather high. I did note that they had a bin with clearance produce, all of which was not appetizing at all. There was a meat department and your standard middle isles with all your pantry and package items. Again, imagine a Spartan type store but even lesser quality- IMO. They had lottery, beer and wine and a self serve bottle return area right when you walked in. There was 5 employees all gathered around one register when I entered and when I left, empty handed. Not very busy eh?? Not to mention I walked the entire store and not one employee was on the floor, nor was I ever greeted. I guess if it's your local grocery store and it suits you then I can see the better star rating. If I lived in the area I would drive the extra few miles to visit my local friendly Krogers. read more

Great market with all the essentials one could need. Personally, I go for the delicious fried chicken at the deli. The homemade breads are very tasty as well. The produce is fresh and the aisles are well stocked. I definitely recommend this marketplace. read more

JACKPOT!! I seriously hit the jackpot the other day when I went to Sheena's They were just loading up the discount rack, and I couldn't put the items in my cart fast enough...in fact, I didn't even have a cart, just a hand held basket, that I had to set down, have an associate watch for me, as I ran for a cart. Bags and bags of lettuce marked down from $2 to $0.75, veggies, potatoes, fruits..all things that are apparently sub-par for the normal selling price, but still GOOD, and I just take it ALL!!! I was having a BBQ that afternoon, so I bought more than my normal supply of groceries for the week. Including 6 bags of ice, I had tons of groceries and spent roughly $85. When I received my receipt, there was an extra receipt for $0.20 off a gallon of gas at the Speedway station in town!!! I was so thrilled!! I like this store for the convenience of being near my house, but some people working here need to figure out where their bread is buttered. I went to the deli today and misread the sign on the potato salad and mistakenly asked for 2 lbs of "German" potato salad. The woman behind the counter became annoyed and said "we don't have German potato salad!" and turned to another girl behind the counter and said "I really need to get out of this place...I can't stand this!" Really? My sincere apologies for not being exact about what I wanted, but work on helping the customer and take a chill pill. I'll look for a place to go that is a little more pleasant. If I can serve myself instead of dealing with this attitude, I sure will. I also despise being checked out while the cashiers are socializing and ignoring that I'm standing there. I feel very unwelcome here often. There are good people here... But I hope the ornery ones cheer up. read more

Love this place. Fast in and out service and real good beer and wine selection. Not kroger prices, but worth the convenience.

I just moved to Romeo in September 2012, and I have always been a huge fan of Spartan stores, However this one is for the pits. The employee's don't seem to care to much about what the store stocks on it's shelves. My first trip there I found Ranch Dressing bottles with experation dates, not just a couple of days, a few were more than 2 months old. Now these items were on sale, and people were buying them. I told one of the guys stocking the items that they were expired. Four days later I went in and was in a hurry, grabbed some ranch (cause it was still on sale), lettuce etc. anyway when I got home, I had unknowingly purchased a bottle of the expired stuff, i would have thought it would have been removed by now. I went back the next day and told them about it again and believe it or not ALL of the expired dressing was still on the shelves. That was not the only issue with expired items being sold... I have also had to retrun molding broccoli, bad hamburger meat, expired mayo and 2 beef roasts had to be returned, they looked good on the outside, but once you opened the packages...bad!. This is definetely not my Spartan store. The items are over priced and I just don't care to shop for my family's groceries at a place where I have to worry about the quality, and expiratin dates of the items being sold to me. I am almost always in a hurry, so my fault for not looking more closely, but should I really have to do that, I trusted my old Spartan store unconditionally. I would feel safe letting my daughter and son retrieve items from the shelves...sure do miss VG"s Food Center :-(( read more
