Their tool selection is excellent, from yard maintenance to electrical, plumbing, boats, you name it, and also have a good selection of quality work clothes and accessories, mostly Carhartt and Dickies. It's the first place I've seen since childhood that sells nails and screws by the pound. The staff are friendly and extremely knowledgable and not afraid to tell you whether your own hairbrained schemes are going to work. While I've left disappointed for not finding what I was looking for, they've spared me a good deal of heartache from finding out on my own that my notions weren't likely to succeed, most recently in trying to find a cap for the lower spout on my water hauling tank. They also routinely have some of the cheapest gas prices in town. I usually try to fill up down in CDA when I'm down there for work as it's often 20-40 cents cheaper than Sandpoint or Bonner's Ferry, but if I'm not heading down that way, this is where I go to fuel up. More than anything, I like that this place brings that small town Hardware store feel, but packs it with big box store level selection and service. It seems like a very happy marriage between two very opposite ideas. Highly recommended!

I had such a great experience at the Alpine Shop in downtown Sandpoint! I've been riding in a pair…read moreof snowboard boots that turned out to be just a bit too small and my circulation was getting cut off. Someone on Schweitzer recommended I stop by the Alpine Shop and I'm so glad I did (side note: we were heading into town anyway or we would've just gone to the Alpine Shop location on the mountain). Susan in the retail department was absolutely wonderful and immediately set me up with Zach, the owner, on the equipment side. He was incredibly professional, attentive, and clearly knows his stuff. He asked thoughtful, detailed questions to really understand what was going on with my boots. Then he warmed them up and had me wear toe caps to stretch out the liners. While we waited, he even did a full assessment of my bindings and straps. Their attention to detail and genuine desire to help made such a difference. I left feeling so much more comfortable and confident about my setup. I highly recommend this shop, they will take great care of you!

You get the best Value, Selection and Service from this man! We were having a little bit of trouble getting the computer setup and the head cutting a little lopsided so I contacted John to see if he could stop by to help us understand the setup process more fully and he did just that. He set a time with us to stop by to school us on the process along with leveling up the saw for a straight cut, and he even let us videotape him explaining the whole process, if you want a man of integrity and a business that backs his product this is the business and man for you! I participated in DEMO DAY this year at Schweitzer. It was pretty rad -- got to try out a ton of…read moreskis from different manufacturers. Alpine is right in the ski village (along with a store in Sandpoint proper), and had signs on their door for *40% off demo skis*. After skiing for most of the day, I walked into Alpine and found a super nice pair of Atomic Vantage 97ti 180 skis. The skis were used as demos, but they looked almost brand new. Told them I wanted them, and were immediately sent to waxing/tuning. I also asked about my boots and was setup with arch support. All in all, I had a fantastic experience here and will come back next year. BUY LOCAL!
