Asked if they got a taxi in the area told me yes asked him again hoping he would tell me a time got very rude saying yes I have just said there is one in the area wouldn't put me through to anyone else very arrogant then at the end of the call said it would be 20 minutes so there wasn't a taxi in the area and they were just lying which would of made me late for a doctors appointment well done city taxis luckily uber was helpful and came within 5 minutes read more

What a fantastic driver! Last night my teenage daughter was stranded in Sheffield by her so called uni 'friends'. She had no money and no way of getting back home to the Wakefield district. A brilliant driver brought her home and made sure she was safe. Well done, Sheffield City Taxis! It's good to know that you are a company who prioritises safety! Thank you read more

Booked a six seater through the App which has a default setting to my card for payment. They called and said they were struggling for a six seater so would send 2 taxis which was agreed. Sent the ladies and child in the first taxi and demanded cash payment. Mohammed locked them in the car until payment was made. REFUSED and said if they want cash they would have to wait until the second taxi actually picked us up and dropped us off so we could pay. Called the office and told them the booking was taken on the card so take this payment from the card on the account. They would not and Mohammed subsequently held 2 ladies and a 10 year old girl hostage in a taxi. This company is a disgrace. Use UBER read more

Very poor service 2 taxis booked for 6.40pm text received saying they are running late 6.45. I phoned up to ask how late they would be, to be informed they didn't know and it was my fault as if I wanted a taxi at 6.40 I should have asked for it earlier. I don't really understand how that works or how much earlier I need to book it for as the operator couldn't tell me, they didn't even have the decency to apologise. Be warned don't let these clowns spoil your night. read more

This has to be the worse taxi company I have ever used. I have to hire a taxi to take me to pick my grandson up from nursery once a week as I am waiting for an operation on my knees and find it difficult walking up hill to the nursery. The nursery isn't far away from where I live and only cost £4. I usually give a £2 tip which I don't think is bad for the short journey. on several occasions over the past few weeks I have pre booked the taxi to make sure it turned up on time. (wow was I delusional). 3 occasions the taxi hasn't turned up on time and I have had to call to find out where the taxi is. The first 2 times the taxi didn't turn up on time I was told by the driver that did eventually turn up that the driver assigned to me didn't want the job as the journey wasn't long enough and wouldn't earn them much money so they refused to come for me. The 3rd time I was told the driver is just dropping someone off and then he would be right with me. After waiting a little longer and calling back I was told the driver had taken another job and they were trying to locate another driver for me. I complained to the person on the phone and they said "just because you book a taxi it doesn't guarantee that one will come" What kind of business is this? I am looking for a reliable taxi company, if you know of any please let me know. read more

-10000 stars worst taxi company ever!!! customer service absolutely disgusting but biggest company in sheffield why should they care about there customers! i use city everyday to get to work i prebook night before yet everyday they are late sometimes 30 mins late apparently this is acceptable because traffic is busy, i accept its busy but dont take my booking if u can not honour this, and communicate with your customer, this morning my taxi was five mins away at 8.50 at 9.05 i rang the office to seewhere my taxi was. told i was at top of list, "no ive been allocated a driver." i said "NO that driver cancelled " why wasnt i told why havent i been reallocated a driver etc, while im having this conversation my son is booking me a taxi city taxis as well not uber CITY. same old same old from office not ther job traffics busy blah blah blah. Attitude Not Bovvered! my sons taxi arrives i get to work and then i get ring back telling me my taxi is outside. again rang office wanting an explaintion as to why my sons taxi arrived before my pre booked taxi, cos i thought i was on top of list even before my son booked one. 1 girl put the phone down on me, as i rang back told same old traffic busy drivers choose and can cancel, but no explaintion as to why my sons taxi turned up before my pre booked taxi that had been allocated and was on top of the list! if either drivers at fault, dispatch or you for expecting your taxi to arrive on time? read more

I'd give them 0 stars if I could. My partner prebooked a taxi 2 days before with them which didn't turn up on time, she had to drive herself to the train station or she would have missed her train and then her flight. When she called they said nothing they could do, so when she arrived at the station she got charged £4 because it showed up 20 mins late. I'm now left with a car I have no confidence to drive stuck in a Q park. Use Über, city taxi can suck it. read more

Poor Service, had a call back on my strret but no car arrived. I phoned to complain andthey basically called me a liar, stating they had tracked the car by GPS. I LIVE on CULDESAC and no car came down my road. Also not had lost property returned which was loaded by homebase into this vehicle. I wont be using this service again. read more

Dreadful service waited for over an hour for a taxi promised for 15 mins, when I complained was told " they were not a public service" ????? And also told " we could use someone else if not happy" so rude. Uber arrived in 5 mins! read more

Absolute garbage, booked at 10PM to be picked up by Sheffield arena at 11PM. Had a notification on app at 11.20PM saying driver was no longer available and the booking was cancelled. At the same time various city taxi drivers were driving round touting for much higher fares (I was quoted £15 for a £6 journey) even though they are a pre-book only taxi company. Disgusting!! read more

Worst taxi company I have known. Booked a taxi from a resurant, the booker didnt seem that bothered about even listening to my right, felt like I had called someone who was just relaxing at home and i was a inconvenience. Told them the address 4 times as he didnt listen. Waited 20 mins taxi driver calls and says he is at the other end of the city, then proceeds to blame me and accuse me of giving false address while arguing with me No lie. I have never have known anything like it, do not use these jokers in any city ever, I would rather walk with broken feet than deal with these guys ever again. read more

Worst company ever - should be -10. I have mobility issued but they refused to pick me up in the layby at the back of Debenhams, a few yards from The Light where we had been. Told me that they were not allowed to pick up from there and that I had to go to a restaurant (which I had no idea where it was) and would be picked up there. I told them I had mobility issues and could not walk that far. That didn't matter to them, I still had to go to this unknown restaurant. Never used them since then. read more

I am a long standing customer of City Taxis. This morning I phoned for a taxi to take me to Medowhall as I needed a new battery for my laptop I was told by the operator that she cannot take my booking as I am blocked because I refused to pay the driver. I was shocked as I use this company all the time. They should pick up their service and give the customer a receipt on arrival. I did not only paid the driver I gave him a handsome tip as he was so kind to help me to carry my shopping (mostly cat-food) to the door. Why did he not report me to the police? read more

I will happily give 0 stars. I tried to get a taxi for my girlfiriend to get home. She was told they won't pick her up from a common public place (a bus stop). I'll admit I got angry when they made her walk to a different place to get a taxi that didn't even go to where was asked but there is no chance of help from this company. read more

Used for many years with no complaints. Why now can we not speak to someone in person. The answer machine does not give enough options. I have tried to book a taxi from an address I don't usually call from and was given 3 addresses to press none of which I was at. read more

I used this taxi company for the first and last time on Friday the 16th of January. I was in the taxi for a few minutes before the taxi driver asked for money upfront, I was surprised as I had never been asked for money before arriving at my destination before. Unfortunately I didn't have cash on me as I had missed the last train home, luckily I had money in my house but the taxi driver became immediately confrontational and asked for an expensive item that he could keep to ensure I wouldn't do a runner once getting home. I understand the lack of trust as I am sure he has not been paid for dropping people off before but I offered to stay in the car while my boyfriend collected the money and this still wasn't good enough. He was very rude and even asked us to leave the taxi in the middle of a roundabout. He did take us home as we would have been stranded otherwise but throughout the entire journey he constantly mentioned that he could have been making more money elsewhere and made us feel completely undervalued as customers. He had a disgusting attitude towards customers which I hope does not represent the rest of the company and I will tell others of my experience so they can avoid this company. I feel I should mention that the telephone staff were actually very nice and helpful and they are the only reason this company receives a star. read more

Sigames up toYelp just for this company. Taxi was late and the driver had no idea where he was going in Barnsley or Sheffield so iwas late to my appointment. He was very rude, barely spoke English, charged me double the usual price of a local company I use and gave me the finger when I got out of the car. Needs reporting and shutting down. read more

I booked a taxi the day before for 6:45am (not a busy time i suspect) for a 10 minute journey to the train station to catch a train at 7:09 (this was for work and had meetings booked in all day). The taxi showed up 15 minutes late and consequently missed my train, missed my first meeting, and had a real hassel organising another journey to get to Newcastle. What added to this is when i called the company to get an explanation, too excerbrated to be annoyed, they offered NO explanation, clearly couldnt be bothered, have not responded to an email. The following day when i needed to be in London i used Mercury Cabs, and all was fine and on time. read more

Dreadful service. I pre-booked a taxi with this company to pick myself and my 7 year old son from outside an infant school at 4.15 pm. I assumed that by pre-booking, the taxi would arrive within a few minutes. However, after waiting 15 minutes in freezing cold, wet weather I called, only to be told that no driver had yet picked up the call. I had no choice but to wait. After a further 40 minutes I got a call from a driver saying he was 'on his way'. I couldn't wait further, had to abandon my journey. I will never use this appalling company again. read more

I used this taxi service less than 2 hours ago and the attitude to their customers is disgraceful. The first time i rang i had the phone slammed down on me, There was no registeraton and no description of the car. I would not reccomend to use this taxi service in the future, It is not a safe company. read more

Literally the worst taxi company I have ever dealt with. We ordered a taxi at 11am yesterday, to take us to the train station, which was about a 10 minute drive away, to catch a train that was due to leave at 12.49pm. When booking I was told that it would take about "20 minutes or so". It took about an hour and a half to arrive, and I had to call the company 3 times to follow up. The first time I called (after about 40 minutes of waiting) I was told that I had been noted as being a priority and that the car would likely be dispatched in 10 minutes, but that there were no guarantees. The second time I was told that I was now a "high priority" but that they were very busy and that they couldn't say how much longer it would take. I explained that I had a train to catch, and was told that I had not left the time of my train earlier, to which I responded that I had not imagined that when booking a taxi almost two hours before my train time it would matter that I state the departure time. When they asked what time it was due to leave, I said 12.35 - in the hopes that this would speed the process. At no point did anyone bother to apologise for the massive delays, or for not warning me when I originally booked that it might take over an hour for the cab to arrive. By 12.20 the car had still not arrived, so I called again and was made to feel like the delays were my fault as I had not stated my train's departure time - I pointed out, again, that it did not seem relevant when I was booking the cab well over an hour in advance and had been given an estimated waiting time of 20 minutes. The lady I spoke to just kept saying that it was busy and that the person I had spoken to earlier should have told me that it could take a long time for a cab to come - I pointed out that yes, yes they should have told me that. It was only when I also pointed out that I still had not received an apology for the delays, or the lack of warning over the delays, that I got a very reluctant "well, we've been very busy, it's Eid, but I will apologise on behalf of the company". The taxi eventually got us to the station for 12.39 - do it's a damn good job that I had lied about the train time, as if that had been accurate, we would have been paying out another £70 for new train tickets. Literally shocking service - I will not be using this company again, and I would urge you not to either. read more

Absolutely dreadful company, can't think why they're still in business. I regularly take my pets to a vet in Killamarsh and despite paying a higher amount and a considerable tip the drivers are usually hostile and rude. Even worse, the people at the end of the phone are thoroughly unpleasant, I recently tried to book a taxi for the following day and was openly laughed at and told "that's not what we do". They should remember that nowadays there's plenty of other companies we can all use and that without customers their business is over. And whoever it is who mans the phone should be fired, it would be better if they hired a human being (or if necessary a friendly chimpanzee) instead, they couldn't be any worse. read more

Black cab Con artist 21/08/19 - wanted to charge £23.50+ for a journey that every other time had cost £14.50 - £14.90, because we had bags! Not enough to half-fill a boot. Spun a tale about it being storage and that charges imposed by City Taxis. Also took us out of the way despite agreeing he knew our exact destination. Clearly dodgy and must have started the clock before we left, added in unknown surcharges. He certainly did not stop the clock when he asked for £23.50 so clearly up to no good. Had to give him £20 - what are the odds he amended the journey record to cover his tracks. City taxis needs to remove him - - SCC licence no 329. read more

Unbelievable! Arrogant telephone operator. Took 15 mins to get through, then put on hold for 7 or 8 mins, when they eventually spoke to me, I asked if I could prebook a taxis for my work tomorrow morning and the operator said "we quite busy tonight so can you call back in 20 mins" I replied "excuse me, it's took 20 mins to get to speak to someone" NO RESPONSE, JUST: call back in 20 minutes and we will book for you. VERY BAD, WILL NOT USE AGAIN . read more

Used for the first time last week. Excellent. Prompt, courteous, fair price. Friendly driver. All good!
