The Main Cast were invited to every rehearsal and despite my 'lead' role it was the smallest part of all the main characters which gave me hours to explore the behind the scenes areas and balconies of this beautiful building. The Centre Ivanhoe is a stylish Art Deco style event space that plays hosts to everything from weddings to school formals, conferences and computer swap meets and is also the town hall. The Centre has played host to many events since my foray into the world of acting- my Year 12 formal, work conferences and balls have all happened here and each time the event staff and surroundings have made each event special. The drive away is perfect for a grand entrance and limousines are commonplace on Friday and Saturday nights. The Centre, is well, the heart of Ivanhoe. Parking is plentiful near by or if you prefer Ivanhoe Train Station is a short walk away. The Council offices and library are next door and the shops and cafes of Ivanhoe are minutes away.

Staff were good, particularly a very slim Indian woman (perhaps a student) who worked ferociously with impeccable manners. Her hard work was noticed and should be appropriately rewarded by her bosses. The only confusing thing is why they call it Luxor. Nothing Egyptian here apart from a couple of straggly palm treesand a bit of Egyptian inspired cornicing. The designers failed.

The dinner service was flawless, and the staff were very attentive, from making sure each guest was taken care of, to ensuring the bridal party and of course the bride and groom had everything they could possibly need. The main function room itself is beautiful. The room is circular, and the dance floor in the centre is surrounded by guest tables and a wedding table party that overlooks the room. I loved the set up, and it was a perfect set up for the perfect wedding. I also attended a couple of highschool presentation evenings here to accept some awards in my last couple of years of highschool. The venue worked well for that event too. Iwould highly recommend checking it out for your own events.

The venue is a very large, grand ballroom, without pillars so it is very versatile. It gets hired out for many events, including weddings, charities, and awards nights. I've attended a couple of charity events here in the past, including a Starry Starry night and an event for the heart foundation, and in all cases the venue has been beautiful. The quality of the events here, in regards to room decor, service, food and beverages are all of the highest standard.I'm sure it costs the event organisers a pretty penny to hire the venue out too. If you are considering the venue for your own function, you can set up an appointment for a viewing; otherwise just pop up to the third level and you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse whilst they are setting it up.

Nothing was too hard or too much to ask. Where most venues we spoke with were very resistant to putting your own personality into the decor/surrounds, Wattle Park embraced it. For example, when we asked about putting some things up on the walls, their response was "Look, you can pretty much do what you want as long as you don't break anything". We were even allowed to have our dog in the garden at the reception, which was a lovely touch. They were easy to communicate with and did well to keep in touch and make sure our needs were met. The food was excellent, with very generous serves. The serving staff were a delight! So helpful, friendly and professional. Nothing was too much to ask of them and they really went above and beyond. You would expect that this freedom and level of service would come at an extraordinary cost but their prices were very reasonable compared with similar venues around Melbourne. We were truly shocked at what a find it was. Wattle Park was an amazing venue and business to deal with. I can't recommend more highly.

For example the waiter noticed that I wasn't enjoying my sparkling so got me another drink. Likewise, they were quite attentive to people's food restrictions. We even made last minute changes and the staff were quite helpful. My friend decided that she didn't want to eat duck for instance and they replaced it with a beautiful eggplant dish. We wanted our lamb well done and they did that for us too. The music was a live band with 60s music. Quite disappointing but we got some better music after. A free cloak room inside. Drinks were topped up. food was aplenty. A few people decided then and there that they wanted to have their wedding there. That says it all folks!
