Shell Gas Station - Gas Stations Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Yelp should seriously consider a 0 star policy!!! This is the WORST operated business in America!!!! The staff is the most rude inconsiderate group I've ever encountered and I'm pretty sure they are stealing from the owner!!! This is the closest gas station to my house as well as the only gas station on my way to work as I jump on the 90 less than 100ft away so I stop here 3-4 times a week since I'm always running late and can't afford to take the 10-15 min detour and hit the next closest station. The comment about theft comes from intuition as well as the fact that I regularly get the same 3 items(monster, water, protein bar) yet every time I pay with a CC it is one price and when I pay cash it's mysteriously another and the cash price mostly varies, oh and they always ask you if your paying cash and never give you a receipt. So after a few times of paying attention to this I purposely paid cash watched the younger Spanish girl act like she was ringing it up give me my total I pay her she offers no receipt so I request one and with a huge attitude says the machine is broken hmmmmm. I then press the issue so she tells me she will try and weirdly asks me to put the items back on the counter so she could ring them up all over again so she did and gave me the receipt except the total amount was different as usual. After I call her out on it she gets very defensive and aggressive I told her I would be reporting her she mumbled some not so nice words about me and I left. Every Time I walk in they are on the phone they make you feel like your interrupting them and more often than not they are busy arguing with another dissatisfied customer. Terrible place I really hope the owner reads this or corporate She'll reads this. I've tried getting the owners info to no avail. Anyway that's enough rambling. On May 29th, I was charged an extraordinarily high price of $3.49/g for gasoline from the Shell Gas Station @ 1741 South Ruble Street in Chicago, IL. This price is WAY above the national avg of $2.33/g and WAY above the Chicago avg of $2.60/g. When I pulled into the station, I thought the price of gas was ACTUALLY $2.49/g instead of the $3.49/g that the gas actually cost. read more

They over charged me for water. I forgot my wallet. I called and went back asking for help. They did nothing and didn't care. Very disappointed I live in the neighborhood. My family, neighbors and myself will no longer be giving this gas station any business as they lack morals and do not care about the community they live in! read more

As others have said - price gouging - avoid! This place has been consistently overcharging for many years.

The clerks here are always friendly and for a tiny shop they have a surprisingly decent array of snacks and drinks, including coffee and pastries at reasonable prices. The gas tends to hang around the local average. I like that it's operating under the Shell brand. And the best part is that is 24 hours. read more
