She mentioned they are pretty speedy with arriving. It's happened there a few times. Called them and they told me $75 service charge and they'd be there in 15 minutes. They arrived in about 10 minutes, fairly quick. And I totally expected to wait an hour. I was so thankful for the woman who recognized we were in a rut and provided a source that could help us. The floors needed a little attention, but overall the place was clean and if I'd actually been hungry I would have bought something. As it was I was just bored on such a long drive and wanted something to much. Nothing leapt out at me and I was on my way again. The gas prices are very reasonable here. They seem like some of the cheapest in town so when I drive this way I like to stop here to fill up.

The clerk, who popped in and out to clean and have a smoke, did offer a quiet "Hi." Otherwise the place was empty but fairly stocked with your usual selection of snacks and drinks. My main goal was just using the bathroom, which was functional yet clearly in need of some upgrades, including a new handle for the stall. From the bathroom hallway you can clearly see a lot of old machinery and tables from the former glory days of Broasters Chicken. The gas is expensive because it's Chevron.

I was 700 miles into a 2,000 mile road trip to move my daughter out of her college dorm when my car…read moreengine failed on I5 a few miles south of Williams, CA. I managed to pull off to the right side of the road but was only a couple feet away from very fast cars and trucks that would shake my vehicle as they passed. I called AAA but the first towing company they got for me called me 15 minutes later saying they wouldn't be able to get to me for at least 3 hours! After a couple more calls to AAA and a visit from a friendly highway patrol officer, I received a very welcome call from Walter at L&T Towing saying he was on his way. Walter was very friendly and helped me through a stressful situation. He knew the local town of Williams well and directed me to a highly rated mechanic who was able to work on my car early the next morning. He even dropped me off at a nearby Motel 6 where I stayed for the night. I can't thank Walter and L&T Towing enough for their excellent service! Sadly, my car seems to be in bad shape, and I had to leave it in Williams while I continued my trip with a rental car to move my daughter. I'll be back for my car in a few days to have it towed to the Subaru dealer in Sacramento. Hopefully I'll be able to get AAA to use L&T Towing and ideally Walter again for this next tow.

On my way from Redding back to Bay Area, my Tesla X got a flat tire on I-5 in Willows. I called my…read moreauto insurance roadside assistance and was told all tires shops had closed at that time and I had to wait till next morning to get the tire fixed. Safety Tire Service was recommended and my car would be towered to that shop next morning. I stayed in a local motel and called the shop next morning. Unfortunately it was Veterans' day holiday and the shop was closed. Luckily it has extra hour service number, and Cody picked up the phone right away and got to my hotel within 30min with his working truck. It turned out my tire was unrepairable. Cody was able to get a replacement tire of the same height and I was able to get back on my way to home within 30min. He was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He also gave me a very good cash deal for his extra hour service and the replacement tire. He also told me I could have called him last night and he would have come to help me. I do not wish anyone else to have a flat tire, but if it happened, do not hesitate to call Safety Tire for help. They, or at least Cody is a great and honest guy.

The only reason I'm pulling off the 5 in Orland here at the Pilot truck stop is they have a Wendy's…read moreattached to the truck stop that's open 24 hrs as are the gas pumps. They have all flavors of gas including diesel. Since we stopped I might as well fill up this gas hog Suburban SUV. All the gas prices locally off this exit are the same, so no bargains. Maverick is just across the way with the same prices. Restrooms are super clean (at least the girl's side), and you can get any kinda road food you might imagine inside. We stopped for lunch at the Wendy's, mostly just cause I had a 2 for 1 coupon on some burgers. Lots of commercial truck traffic here so watch out where you're going.
