But since I needed to make a Costco run (and I'd mentally prepared myself for it) I decided to visit the east side Kohl's off of Federal Road. After this one-time experience , I think I'll stick with the one in Brewster. The outside of the store is kind of messy and looks like it's not maintained....it could literally be abandoned and you wouldn't tell the difference. You walk in and it's a standard Kohl's, only more tired and flatter. I know that may be hard to picture but when you go to the Brewster Kohl's and walk in, there's always a bright, seasonal display that is very welcoming and puts you in the mood to shop. Here, it was just a mess of carts haphazardly sitting around in the entry and some luggage that I wasn't sure was on display or was just waiting to be stocked. The selection was okay and they had stock, but there were a few areas that it looked like stocking had started but then been abandoned halfway through. Like boxes and carts and ladders just sitting in aisles and between racks. Not a big deal and maybe they're gearing up for back to school but just a little messy. What was the least appealing thing about this place is how long it takes to check out. We were the second people in line and just wanted to purchase one pair of swim trunks. It took a long time and there were no self service options such as they have at Brewster. Some dude had a complex return apparently so it took three cashiers several minutes to resolve that while the line kept growing. Then when we got to the cashier, he seemed really burnt out, which I can get and I empathize with. So a self-service option would have been quicker and a better experience. Anyway, the key takeaway from this review is that if you're in the greater Danbury metro area, take a ride on 84 West to Brewster and check out the Kohl's near the Southeast train station.

Fine, that is a stylists job to help you find what works best for your body. I felt there was some slight body shaming inherent in her pushiness, but whatever. I chalked it up to the stylist being a bit older and perhaps of an era where curves were not as celebrated as they are now. I would not have written a review, except for this one exchange that really continues to not sit well with me. After I responded to her that I was comfortable with my curves and that my fiancé is also a fan of my body, she said: well it doesn't matter what he thinks, they always think you look nice. It is everyone else at the wedding you should be thinking about. That was just a step too far for me. I promptly left, ending up purchasing the sheath dress I liked elsewhere where I was comfortable doing business. It just left a bad taste in my mouth that she (1) was unable to read the room about my personal preferences and comfort, I wasn't looking to her to help me decide what suited me best in that moment and (2) would go so far as to stoke insecurity with that last comment. ALL the pieces I brought to the check-out had colored plastic tags poked through the items. The colors correspond to whether the item is 50% off that day or not. The clothing has colored plastic but are not individually priced with a paper tag. THUS all the prices are what are posted on the SIGNS at the ENDS of the racks throughout the store. What I am talking about in my review is how, when you get to the check-out, they decide NOT TO HONOR the posted prices on the SIGNS they have posted throughout the store (see photo of one that I attached.) I am NOT talking about "nefarious" behavior where someone has REMOVED an individually priced paper tag on a clothing item, because your store has VERY FEW individually priced pieces of clothing on the racks.
