We love coming here in the winter months because it's much less crowded, which makes it perfect for letting our dog, Luna, really enjoy herself without a lot of distractions. She gets to explore at her own pace, and we get a peaceful, relaxing walk. Another nice bonus is the cost--it's only $2 per person to enter, which is very reasonable for how much space and how well-maintained the park is. We have the Charleston County Park Pass, so we don't pay anything to get in, making it an easy go-to spot for regular visits. The trails are well-kept, there's a great mix of wooded areas and open space, and it never feels overly busy during the cooler seasons. Highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet, dog-friendly park, especially in the fall and winter when the crowds thin out.

There are softball fields, a kids play grounds, plenty of hiking trails and a beautiful large lake and dock. We spent a few hours hiking the trails. They are well maintained and the views are breath taking. The lake is large and beautiful and looks to house several species of fish. There is a board walk and two floating docks on each side for shore fishing. We plan to come back with our kayaks for a day of fishing. There are picnic tables and a few BBQ grills. Perhaps a picnic lunch and then kayaking. The park is dog friendly with a leash. Lots of people walking and enjoying the quiet scenery and fall weather. You won't want to pass up West Ashley Park.

The road noise is definitely there but it didn't bother me. We only saw a couple of others on the trail, both of which had dogs with them. Make sure you're looking up too because we did have to duck to avoid a banana spider and its web. I would definitely come out here again. Also, we had no issues with mosquitoes.

It is a great place to walk your dogs or take your little ones to explore.
