Sheraton Mendoza is an AMAZING hotel for a level 2 SPG hotel. While i completely empathize with the negative reviews on Tripadvisor, about it being somewhat outdated with terribly slow service, I was impressed by the 4K point cost per night - an unheard of low cost point conversion in the US. For benchmarking purposes, a standard hotel of similar quality would cost 15K / night.
It includes a complimentary glass of wine at check in, gym, pool, sauna and full bath in each room.
To add to that, it seems they have bulked up their club lounge breakfast (a big complaint on TA) which includes a fully stocked spread of savory and sweets - eggs, smoked salmon, and prosciutto were my favorite. There were a number of other (mediocre) but generous choices of slices fruit, meat, cereal, bars...something I am especially impressed of after hiking via refugios in the W in Patagonia.
Overall it's a weird hotel - club like experience in the bar with loud edm music and lights, understaffed but friendly and knowledgable servers, convenient location to downtown, but this is definitely a high quality hotel I would recommend for value if you can use points. They make an effort to address complaints and issues on TA, and are doing renovations. Without points I would have stayed at the park Hyatt for $190/night but this is a great option and am glad I stayed here. read more
