The rooms are large and spacious and are well appointed. We especially enjoyed the delicious bottle of Malbec in our room. The private plunge pool and veranda overlooking the Andes with outdoor shower were incredible. We were lucky enough to attend a private Tango show and wine tasting during our stay. Some of the expertly trained staff including Leo, Christian, Barbara and Juan Carlos catered to our every need. One evening we had room service on top of our casita and watched the sunset from our roof. We have stayed in many wonderful lodges in Africa and Relais and Chateau in Europe but our group of four all felt the Cavas Wine Lodge really exceeds all of them. We hope someday to return with our family.

We had a lovely mix of small boutique and large scale wineries. Major pluses but then the negatives! I've been trying to get resolved charges made on my card with no luck. We went to casino restaurant for a late night dinner. Service was a bit lackadaisical and not even much eye contact. I got bounced around the wait staff and cashiers, before someone answered my questions or sat us down. Even though I asked, if credit cards were accepted before dining multiple times. They drumroll ... ended up charging my card for cash. If you decide to dine in their restaurant casino - just plan to use cash - don't try to use your card!!! I've been trying to get it cleared up with no avail. The cost of the cash charges was the same for my meal. Lesson learned. Negative points for customer service at the restaurant and in my attempts to clear up the matter...

The owner/lady-of the-manor is Swiss born, speaks several languages, provides fresh bakery and fruit every morning, and goes out of her way to help the visitor find what can make a stay worthwhile. There is a nice park a few blocks away and shops, restaurants are just outside the door. This hotel does have a casino built into the building, accessible through the street entrance or through the lobby. The hotel itself is very nice, as expected when staying at a Sheraton property. Staff are very helpful and speak very well in English, for those travelers who do not speak Spanish. The lobby is very clean and modern, as are the rooms! The hotel is one of the higher buildings in downtown Mendoza, so you do get a nice view of the city if you are on a higher floor. There is a lounge are with wine and beer with some appetizers near the lobby. The breakfast buffet is also very good with many traditional items from around the world. Eggs, fruit, pastries, yoghurt, etc. The quality of the foods are very nice and taste great! As for the rooms itself, they are very nice and clean. Modern, yet classy. The price point for these rooms are incredible, as I got my room well in advanced and stated about 7 days. My average price was a around 100 USD a night. The pool area is a bit warm since it's inside a glass room. The pool area seemed very hot and thus warmed up the pool like a giant warm bathtub. It was better than nothing, but still warm. There is a work out room with weights and cardio equipment. Locker room area with lockers and showers to use while you're in the workout/pool lounge area. There are outdoor terrace chaise lounge chairs to lay out and sun bathe. I stayed on the 9th floor and had amazing views. We did have a rental car and parked in the garage, which was very tight and limited, which was located in the basement. I think the overall experience is great and the location was perfect!

But there were a couple of cons: 1) front desk wasn't that helpful with excursions and 2) a different front desk receptionist stuck me with a suspicious telephone bill saying I was on the phone for about 6 straight days, when in reality I wasn't even at the hotel for more than 36 hours. While it seems to have been cleared up, the receptionist insisted a bit too much I pay it, and took up too much of my time. Regarding the excursions, granted I asked the day before which was last minute, but the Hyatt had no problem setting something up for us within 5 minutes on the same day (a Sunday, to boot). Also, somewhat negative, the bathrooms are a bit weird. The bathroom door knobs were not properly screwed in and were wobbly, and the hinge is on top of the door instead of the inner side. The first night one of us actually got stuck inside until the other helped from outside. And the design of the shower is poor because it only covers half the stream and lets a lot of water shoot out onto the floor. Definitely dangerous if you're not careful.

We ended up checking in at midnight due to travel issues and with no luggage. They checked us in quickly, provided toiletries along with toothbrush (but the toothbrush started losing bristles while I was brushing.. Like in my mouth! Lol) Downside: rooms were super tiny, even my friend who paid an upgraded price for a studio was super small. Beds not so comfortable. Rooms didn't match with the rest of the hotel. Upside: still liked the location, staff and Breakfast included.

There is an interesting mix of people, from students to locals needing an escape. The activities offered are affordable and the quality definitely competes with the other options in Mendoza.
