He legally clarified the language in my contracts without turning them into super verbose mumbo-jumbo (which both my clients and I are very happy about). Also, since he has experience on the other side of the lawyering table, he is very clear about when he is/isn't billing and absolutely refuses to sneakily charge for brief phone calls and emails. His attitude is along the lines of "there will be plenty of time for me to make money off you as your business grows", which I think is the perfect attitude for my lawyer to have---he wants to be in it with me for the long haul rather than just a few overpriced, unproductive meetings. Ben works with a lot of small businesses and start ups, and he was adamant that I provide him with some promotional material about my information design company so he could pass it along to some of his other clients. After nearly two years, substantial legal fees, stress, and time invested in this case, we were left feeling that we had not received the preparation, guidance, or representation we expected from our attorney.
