not impressed with service. joe the rep came out and inspected pool while i was at work, called me for payment and left receipt for me. when i got home from work reviewed and thought i understood . this is what receipt stated leak at return line behind *3 water return $1750.00 to fix could not afford at this time. i started to repair on my own cut tile and concrete at what i thought would be #3 to find no leak. so i am not a pro pool person so i called to get varication how to proceed joe the tech was on vacation for two weeks no problem so i waited. when i called i was told that if i needed him to tell me i would need to pay for a service call again Lauren was nice enough to tell me that #3 was the third return from skimmer clockwise. that is what i thought and that is where i opened the concrete already and found no leak. not happy with results . read more

I bought a house in Port Charlotte area a few months ago. I noticed I was filling up my pool more than once a week. I tried finding leaks in the heater and pumps, but nothing was significant enough to warrant that much of a leak. I looked up Sherlock via Yelp and noticed they had good reviews and were local. When I called, my reservation/appointment was within 1 week which was very reasonable since this wasn't a huge issue at the time. The technician came to my house and explained the pricing/labor. I verbally agreed and within a few minutes, he dove into my pool and went to work. He came out about 30 min later and explained he fixed the leak. Apparently the old owner had tried fixing the light fixture on the pool and water was leaking into the sides of it. He removed the old silicone around the light frame and put in a high grade water weld adhesive. My pool doesn't need frequent filling anymore and the total cost of the fix for time and troubleshooting was around $300, which seems very reasonable for what they are doing. I called Red Rhino first and was told I had a leak in the spa jet pipes under my stamped concrete pool deck. For a total of $1,645 they would fix it after jack hammering the concrete in the deck and they would put it almost back to what it was - minus the epoxy coating on the concrete. Yikes! I wasn't ready for that much destruction. So I called Sherlock Leak Detection for a second opinion. Without telling Bill from Sherlock what Red Rhino found, I wanted to see if he thought the same. But after only an hour checking the jets, the spa and and actually scuba diving in the pool he found a leak in the main drain at the bottom and without damaging ANYTHING he fixed the leak! For a LOT less than Red Rhino and without destroying my pool deck I no longer have a problem! Bill at Sherlock is my HERO. He knows what he's doing. Don't call anyone else! read more

We are very pleased with Sherlock Leak Detection. Our pool guy thought we had a hidden leak for reasons I won't go into. SLD came when scheduled. We were out of town. Gave a full investigation and couldn't find any leaks. Adjusted some valves to work better. Called me to report what was done. Honest people! Could have scammed us saying the was a leak. Do a lot of unnecessary work and presented us with a big bill. Our pool guy had prepared us to be paying a Hugh Bill for repair that wasn't needed. I've been putting off getting my pool leak fixed because I've heard horror stories about the procedure. Finally I asked my pool service to recommend a company and he said Sherlock. Wow. I should have called them a long time ago! Frankie came out within a day and checked everything. I did not have my heater on and he had to scuba dive into 67 degree water. And he found the leak! They were very thorough in attempting to locate the leak. After making a preliminary inspection, he put on his wet suit and carefully looked at all the possible areas for a leak. He has a clever heated water system that allows him to stay in the pool comfortably even if the pool is not heated. It was that system that allowed him to eventually find the leak. Initially, I used a "pool guy" who quoted a lower price to find the leak. After a week, he was still uncertain as to the location of the leak. We paid the "pool guy" and called Sherlock. They found the leak in 2 hours and quoted a price range for the repair. The leak was under our pool deck so it wasn't cheap. I thought we could simply close off the pool drain and not do the repair, but after 3 months of fighting a green pool, we bit the bullet and scheduled Sherlock to make the repair. Even though they had to jack hammer through the pool deck, they were done in 4 hours and the final cost was at the low end of their estimate. It wasn't a cheap repair but less than we anticipated. Our pool has been leaking, and we had someone come out to fix it. They could not find the leak and suggested we call Sherlock. I called on Monday morning, and was given a date within a few days, which, for this time of year, I was very happy. I received a call back about an hour later asking if the tech could come by shortly. Very professional, listened to what I explained that we had already tried. Found and fixed the leak.
