Brevity is not my strong suit, but I'll do my best!…read more Truly terrible experience in the ER today with my four-month-old daughter and the nurse who assisted us (I unfortunately did not get his name- male, white, tall, blonde, forearm tattoos, possibly late 30's). Subjectivity obviously applies, and I also don't think this man meant to be intentionally harmful. But it's perhaps worse to claim ignorance as justification for clear misogyny. The complete lack of emotional intelligence was disheartening, to say the least. I was made to feel as if I were overwrought, overreacting, and an inconvenience. While I'm sure he doesn't remember the interaction this way, or possibly at all, ignorance should not excuse one's poor behavior. I suppose I'm naive to assume that such flagrant discrimination, unconscious or not, shouldn't remain prevalent or acceptable in the same way it was 80 years ago. We all have bad days at work, and that's okay. However, as an adult who presumably chose his career, this nurse should know, at the very least, how treat others with respect. I wonder if this interaction would have been even worse had I been a woman of color. Or how it might have differed had a male partner been there with me. Occurrences such as mine perpetuate distrust in regard to medical institutions. Hospitals are sought with the assumption that the expertise of a professional will be provided- that as the patient, you will be safely, kindly, and responsibly taken care of. But why should an institution be trusted, when it can't fulfill its basic community responsibilities or fundamental humanity? If given a choice, do not seek care here. ESPECIALLY if you have a child or infant. The aforementioned nurse also told me that I should've gone to the Huntley location, as Woodstock doesn't have a pediatric physician. If so, how would the public be expected to know this? Why would a hospital not be equipped to serve all ages in emergency situations? Frankly, if thats true, it's unacceptable, misleading, and irresponsible. We can do better, people!!

I am afraid of needles so when I was told I'd need an IV and to have blood drawn I started to cry. She went and got me a teddy bear to comfort me and I will cherish it forever it was an act of kindness that I was not expecting especially as an adult and it meant so much to me. I ended up needing emergency surgery and everyone else who helped me at this hospital was also very kind. I wish I had names but unfortunately I didn't catch anyone's before I was transported to a different hospital.

I came in to get tested for a flu and they asked if I wanted some ibuprofen. I said sure and didn't think anything of it. Later I was billed $50 for "medication". I contested it, but they said that was part of my consent to be seen. I don't necessarily blame the staff, but I do question everything that is offered now. Glass of water? How much? Use the bathroom? How much? Are the masks complementary? Do I have to pay for the paper sheet that I sat on in the exam room? If it's not an emergency, I'd recommend you come here. You will be treated nicely and get into a room quickly, but after the initial vitals, prepare to wait. And buyer beware, make sure you don't accept any treatment without asking the cost. That said the quality of care was decent. The staff here are knowledgeable and friendly.

After my appointment her care team contacted me after the appointment. Medication wise, she's not registered so I had hawk them down again to get another nurse to send the medication, (she's aware of the issue as well). My final straw was I inbox them about medication needed and never got a respond and it's been over four days now. So, I switch providers that can communicate better.

We were directed by the ER to have her seen by an orthopedic surgeon within 2 days. We call the following morning and were informed by the answering service that no one would be taking info for appointments until Tuesday morning due to the holiday weekend. Giving them the benefit of the doubt called back at 8:35am on Tuesday morning got stayed on hold (opted not to wait for a call back) approx 40 min and finally spoke to receptionist who told us that she would be contacting Dr. Holtkamp's office and that someone would call us back in the afternoon. Again we gave them the benefit of the doubt, and since no one had called back we tried again just after noon Wednesday this time we went ahead and stayed put in for a call back the indication was 40 min., however the phone did not ring for over 2hr 45min and sadly my wife as not able to answer in time. They left a message that put us back in the cycle. I called back and this time I waited until someone picked up her name was Rebecca, she promised that she would follow up herself and call back the next morning. As of 12:07 we have now been on hold for another 1 hour waiting for someone to pick up. Epic disregard for patient care. My wife has been without pain medication since the injury since the medicine that she was given caused her to itch, the hand on the arm that the fracture is in continues to swell. Can't speak for the doctors but Ortho Illinois scheduling is complete garbage absolutely the worst communications, follow up that i have encountered in any business in my life. I would not take a sick rat to this group.
