3/31/22 I couldn't believe my eyes today as trash was blowing everywhere so I picked the trash up that was in my yard that was blown out of the nearby neighbors trash bin. As I was picking up trash from my yard and the streets that was caused by the wind I notice the trash people coming down the way so I went in the house trusting that they would take the trash but I was wrong. They went down the street came back up and drove right by the trash that they were suppose to pick up smdh how unprofessional. The community we live in uses Shifflett's and they are MUCH better than the previous company!!! These folks will take anything and when we call (call ahead to let them know we've got a king size mattress, fridge, etc outside), they are very appreciative and bring a flatbed truck to haul it off. They seem friendly too, they always wave when they are driving through the community. read more

They started going door to door in the neighborhood with discounted price and get us to their service and increased the payment after 6 months to the same as previous provider. Now they changed trash pickups from two days to one with the same price. They also took my yard waste bin and told me as they are not responsible if it's personal. I called couple of other service providers and see they are cheaper with the minimum $10/quarter. Don't move to them; you'll finally see yourself losing more money than save a little bit. read more

I do not know what has happened to this company. I pay $35 a month for trash and recycling pickup. Since the beginning of March my recycling has not been picked up. I recall recently (as of March 2022) a lot of trash companies went under fire for operating before 5:30. I ensured my trash and recycling was out before 5:30 every morning and only my trash has been picked up. I have made multiple attempts to contact their office over the past week and I will sit on their answering service for as long as 10 minutes with no acknowledgement. If my recycling does not get picked up this week I'm going to drop my bin off at their office and demand 2 months refund because this has gotten out of hand. read more

I wish I could rate them -10 stars. Once this company switched over to GFL management, my trash ceased being picked up. I called the service to inform them of this, and was on hold for literally an hour. They told me they would come clean everything up (never did). while on that phone call I told them I would like them to come pick up everything that they were supposed to have already picked up AND cancel my service. Not only did they never come to pick up the trash they said they would, they never canceled my service and these thieves charged me over $70 for months of work that was never done despite me requesting a cancellation of service. I also never received a refund for the months that I had canceled for and Work had not been done. DO NOT USE THEM, I see other reviews here that say the same thing. I have had this company (gfl) for two months and had my trash picked up exactly three times. This only happened after numerous phone calls. Todays missed pick up was the last straw. Called to cancel the service and the lady told me to have the empty trash cans out to be picked up on the next regular pick up and they are charging 75.00 for picking them up. If they weren't there they would charge 75 per can for the three cans. Another problem...they only ever gave us two cans. They told us since the service (term used lightly) that they were dropping off a recycle can and never did. Now they're going to charge me 75 dollars for a can they never delivered. I'm actually quite surprised to see all of the one star reviews!!! I have had absolutely no issues with my trash service over the last 3 years... The office staff has always been so incredibly friendly and willing to help with any issues I call about ( large pick ups and or odd items) My trash guy... seriously between him and my mailman I am incredibly blessed!!!! Would not recommend to anyone! Been with them for about a year and they have missed a few days picking up my trash but are super quick to blame the customer, its never their fault. One of the times I was taking my can down to the road at 5am, they literally drove right past me and when i called, they said i have to wait until next week. Every trash day after they come, the trash can is knocked over with the lid open and basically in the ditch. The people that pick it up obviously dont care about the cans or professionalism but now that i want to cancel, they want me to pay them to pick their own can back up! WHAT A JOKE! Everything was good for awhile until I called to let them know that my trash cans were left close to the road and that one got hit and damaged. After that I still found them close to the road and one time they were both put directly in the middle of the driveway so we couldn't get out without moving them. Then they didn't pick up the recycle it's been sitting there a week and a half and the trash wasn't picked up this week either. I called twice this week and they said they had to check records and they would call me back no callback either time. The one girl acted like she didn't believe me that I put the trash out on time and said she had to check their camera. So today is Saturday and they're closed and full recycle and trash are still at the end of my driveway! I chose them because they were inexpensive but I'm canceling them come Monday! Garbage day is Friday. Service was canceled due to an impending storm; however, two other refuse companies including the rest of the city seemed to go about their day like normal. We were told our garbage would not be picked up until the following week. Asked about a discounted rate and was told that we'd only receive that IF we took our own garbage to the dump and provided them with a receipt. So now we have two cans overflowing into a third recycling bin and no where to go with garbage living in a rural area. The next few days should be an awesome time keeping critters out of the garbage pile sitting at the curb. Guess I'll see what another company can do for us. read more

Save money and get a season pass to the landfill. Shifflett's use to pick up trash twice a week and recycling once a week. Then they switched to one and one. Then they sold out to GFL. Good luck getting through now to pay a bill or ask a question. And when you cancel service Shifflett's charges you $25.00 to pick up your trash cans. read more

I started with Shifflett's on July 22 when I moved into Lake wilderness. Shifflett's gave me one month free which was July 22-august 22. . So I began paying $75.00 every three months on August 22. My first three paid months were [august 22-September 22; ] [september22-october22;] [october22-november22] 2021 for which I paid $75.00 for the first three paid months. I am paid till November 22. On October 22 they mailed a bill stating I am late and owe $40.00. I had one free month and paid for three months ending November 22. How can I be late? where did $40.00 come from? November 22 would begin my next three months. They say a supervisor will call but doesn't call. It is not hard for me to figure out, does anyone else have a problem figuring 4 months, one month was free, for $75.00? To add $40.00 to the bill and call it late is not a fair price. read more

Worst service ever! They simply don't bother picking up my trash. It's happened several times. Pick up is supposed to happen every Monday. This past 22nd of July my trash was not picked up once again. I called and left voice mail messages, I emailed Shifflett's Waste Services too, but to no avail. The 29th came and went and they still failed to pick up my trash that had been out at the curb for a week. Finally, today I receive some lame excuse email claiming they had a sub driver last week. This company deserves a negative 5 because they are the worst company. Since you can't post the review unless you give a rating, it is with a disgruntled post of even a one star that I send it. I feel sorry for anyone who has an account with them because they choose who and when they pick up the trash. I have seen young children with better skills. So if you do have an account my suggestion would be not to pay them until the end of the agreement - that way you might have a chance that they will do the job (but that could be optimistic at the most) read more

When we signed up with Shifflett's we were told they would pick up trash twice a week for 60.00 per quarter. Within one month, they changed our service to once a week and charged us 73.00 per quarter with the additional fee being yard waste. We called because we had no "yard waste" in our trash. We were told they were charging everyone that fee, didn't matter if you actually had any yard waste. This is a complete rip off. They were also very rude on the phone. read more

This company was a small local company. Has sold twice to big business. Now I cannot get good service. They have been bought out by GFL and yet I cannot switch to GFL... and can't get my trash picked up by GFL... because I have shifflets cans. $25 cancelation fee. But they told me if I can and call back to get service with GLF - which is same co....?? That I have to go with Shifflets again. They won't change my service. This company is extremely unorganized and careless. I had called to have a couch picked up and they said that somebody would come the following day, they did not come. I called consecutively for an entire week and was told a different excuse every time and given empty promises that the couch would get picked up. One time they said they didn't even have my address in the system? The only good thing was that my money was refunded in a timely manner. Horrible service. They routinely miss picking up our trash. When we call, we are interrogated as to when we put our bin out (it's always the night before) and where we placed the bin (it's always near our mailbox, as far into the street as we can as instructed). They then come up with an excuse (usually truck issues) and promise to come the next day. They never DO come the next day. Today, they were supposed to come to pick up trash that they hadn't picked up on Monday. I literally watched the truck BLOW past my house, turn around in the court, and then BLOW past again. Apparently, their staff are out joy-riding in the trash trucks. So ... I call the company AGAIN. They are supposed to open at 8:00 am. Their "office is closed" message is still on, even though it's almost 8:30. I mean, seriously, how horrible can a company get? DON'T WAIST YOUR MONEY USING THIS INCOMPETENT AND UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY!!! I attempted to use this worthless service to pick up my residential trash for the second time. Due to the fact they offered a much cheaper rate. I would rather pay much more than have my trash cans left in the middle of the street blocking my driveway or in the water drain or left on there side all over my yard. Recently they didn't bother to check and took the lid to my trash can. I called to get a solution to the problem. I was told that the actual owner claimed there was no pick up on that day. It was their truck and the same mental midgets left my trash cans in the street in front of my driveway. I was ten yards away watching them. They purposely left the cans in the street and quickly ran off. The owner is so UNPROFESSIONAL because he doesn't want to take responsibility so he chooses to make the false claim that the customer is not telling the truth. I have his truck and driver's on my servalance camera so I know who is truly lying!!!! When I called the new company for service I was advised that she has the same issue with this lossy company but unfortunately she has a HOA that has a contract with them. I feel sorry for them!
