Arriving in the peak dinner hours with five work buddies on a weeknight, we were perhaps a little too loud for the crowd, earning a few dagger-stares from the pair at the other table. Oh well, we're dudes and we're having a good time! Singha's all around, followed by appetizers. The chicken satay was delicious and while there was plenty in the bowl of peanut sauce, I wanted more of it! The tempura platter also was great, with a few big prawns ("shrimp" in American), onions and other veggies. Dinner. Oh, dinner. I had the Pad Thai with prawns. A big portion that was spiced enough to give my lips a little zing. Other mains were well enjoyed and many new entrants to the Clean Plate Club were issued. Two rounds of beers, appetizers for six, mains for six, we split the £150 check evenly at £25 each. A good deal for a good meal. I'll be back!

The quality of food is excellent and compares to no other in my local area. The range of food they sell to is excellent. They have different chinese food to suite everyone. Their potion sizes are very generous and in my opinion the are very good value for money. At weekends they can become very busy and so you may have to wait a little longer for your food but that's never put me off before. The staff you speak with are always happy, friendly and helpful and can always suggest different foods to try if your not sure of anything.

Their waiting times are also good and at weekends if I order from here I tend to phone and preorder so I don't have to sit around waiting. The queue ended up being much longer after we finished. There are multiple floors but we were on the ground level towards the back dining area--just a tad bit of a tight squeeze around our table. We ordered three dishes: a granola and fruit bowl to share, the Mixed Fruit & Nut Waffle, and the Waffle House Breakfast (mine, which included a waffle, free range scrambled eggs, field tomatoes and mushrooms, and bacon rashers). While the savoury bits were okay, I found the namesake waffles, and ultimately the plate itself, to be forgettable...or below average at best. With a spattering of other superior breakfast and lunch eateries in the city, Waffle House is not one I'd return to. It's on the first floor ("second floor" in American) up a flight of stairs. I don't believe that they have a lift ("elevator") so if that's a requirement for you or someone in your dining party, consider another restaurant. There was a bunch of us that showed up without a reservation, so we got drinks and waited in an interesting sofa-equipped lounge area until our table was ready. It was quite odd to see Blue Moon and Coors Light on tap, so I had the first "Silver Bullet" in over a year. Yes, it tasted exactly the same as any that I've had back in the States. The Blue Moon did not have the usual slice of orange in it that's the norm when it's served in the US. For starters, I went with the chicken nachos. A huge portion with a large scoop of sour cream on top. Only a few jalapenos, but a good amount of chicken and cheese. It was good! For the main, I had something they called a Mexican Blanket. A large 12 inch tortilla folded with chicken and BBQ pork topped with cheese and ranchero sauce, served with a massive pile of salad and a large portion of rice. The portion was huge - as large as you could expect in any American restaurant. About halfway through, I gave up on trying to clean my plate and started digging through the thing for the meat bits. No dessert, but someone ordered a pitcher each of their regular and strawberry margaritas. I thought they were quite weak without enough tequila to taste and way too much sweetness. But maybe that's what they consider a margarita over here. Decent service, though somehow we ended up with a strange £100 charge for tacos on the bill. I don't know if this was accidental or our waiter was trying to pull a fast one with a large group. He took it right off when we pointed it out. I've been told it's a great place for lunch with a decent chicken chimichanga. Perhaps I'll try that next time.

There was just the right amount of ingredients and enough to share (I ended up taking some home). My husband tried their beef fajitas and they were surprisingly yummy. They marinated the beef differently than what we've had at a Mexican restaurant before, making it slightly sweet tasting, and came with quite a good amount of beef. It was actually a big enough portion that we could have shared, had we known in advance. Price wasn't too bad and waiting time was just right. Servers were attentive, helpful, and friendly. If your table is near the windows, it's actually a great spot for people-watching the busy shoppers below, but with the nearly hidden location and at least a handful of other similar eateries competing within walking distance, Baan Chang is unfortunately easy to forget about unless you're actively seeking it out.
